Curled up in one of the overstuffed armchairs in the student lounge, Jessica was pouring over one extended universe New Jedi Order books. She knew what was coming, she'd read the book before, but that didn't quell her love of the adventure. That galaxy far far away, in a time long ago.

She had many geekdoms, but Star Wars and Hockey were her two favorites. And she had only a bare few to share those with.

It was there, while she was minding her own business, turning the page, that a wad of gum rolled up the chair and lept into her ear.

Jess let out a shriek and flung the book, a great and terrible sin, over her head as she sprang from the chair and started clawing at her ear. What the hell was in it?!

"OH MY GOD GET IT OFF GET IT OFF!" Her hands flapped over the orifice as she danced around, making a total fool of herself in an attempt to dislodge what she assumed was a bug of some kind. For which she would blame any and everyone with that ability.

[D]A[N]I[C]C!?

So Dani hadn't expected anything interesting to happen in the student lounge, which made it the perfect place to actually do that thing known as studying that even world-pranking math-smarties like Dani had to do at some point in her life. Mostly it was History that was torture--all those names to remember with dates and how-longs and whys along with them made Dani completely crazy, her A average being dragged down to a B by her failure to get it all right in History tests. But right now, Dani didn't entirely care anymore. She had, at the beginning of the study-session, been dead-set on coming away from this with a vast knowledge of civil-war-era happenings at least, but then she found herself getting a headache and wishing for something to happen apart from the people reading, watching a tv show she didn't care about, and studying like her. Really, anything at all would have been a welcome distraction from the evils of--

Wait, did that chick just start screaming?

Yes, yes she did. Dani tossed her textbook aside and walked casually over to where the girl was flailing about, screaming for somebody to "get it off" and clawing at her ear like something was biting it. Dani pushed the girls flapping hands out of the way, none-too-gently saying "Let me see, I'll get it" and looked at it, glaring when she realized it wasn't a deadly bug of any sort. No, it was--Dani grabbed onto the girl's head and investigated closer, then grabbed the item and pulled it out rather quickly--a wad of... Gum. Well. Dani released her and stepped back, glaring at the gum still. "So what I would like to know," She said, moving her focus to the girl in front of her. "Is how the frack this thing got in your ear." Because that was really an interesting story waiting to be told. Hammel sucked in some ways, but these would be great stories to tell the grandkids one day.

"You should leave it aside you know." Braxton stood up from his sofa chair as he walked towards the two girls. "Weirdly enough, the thing's actually alive." He caressed his chin while attempting an 'I'm intrigued' face expression... if there was such thing. "I've been watching the thing for ten minutes now. It entered through the door and everything. Actually through under the door."

Looking at the wad of gum in the short-haired, although her strange hair-style made him doubt if it was in fact short, he focused and clenched his fist, making the little thing escape from her hands and drop straight to the floor. Kneeling, he placed a finger over the wad and pushed it hardly against the floor. I think that should stop it. Wrong. The thing jumped out and continued walking towards the younger girl.

"The thing really wants you." Brax said out loud as he clenched his right fist and gave the wad five times its mass and quick vertical momentum downwards, which would have the same effect as if stepping on it, crushing the thing into a flat disc firmly stuck to the ground. "Now, that should stop it."

As the was of gumw as plucked from her ear, Jessica jerked away, and spun to face it, and the other girl accusingly. There was no way it had just magically appeared, and the boy's explanation offered her some guidance.

"Alive? One of you assholes manipulated it!" Her eyes darted from boy, to girl, to the other students in the lounge the blame and anger evident. "It's not funny, and oh my god it HAS been chewed!" Her eyes landed on the offending piece of pre-chewed chewing gum. Who would do that? Who was sick and twisted enough to animate pre-chewed gum and send it into someone's EAR.

"Was it you?!" A finger jabbed at a girl who was trying not to laugh behind her book. The finger point and tone only made her fall into gales of louder laughter as her head shook a negative.

Jessica didn't believe her. How was she supposed to know the gum was actually hers? That the janitor of all people had sent it after it's user for sticking it under the desk instead of throwing it away like a responsible human being. The thought hadn't even, and wouldn't, cross her mind.

"Oh Gaaawd, I feel violated!"

The stamp of the boy's foot on the gum, driving it into the floor seemed to have killed the last bit of animation.

Jessica, on the other hand, was doing the 'icky dance'. Bouncing from foot to foot her hands wringing in front of her as she tried to 'shake off' the feeling the gum had left.

It didn't work. She doubted hour-long showers would work.

[D]A[N]I[C]C!?

Dani looked at the guy that had crushed the gum thoughtfully. "So, dude, if you were watching the thing for ten minutes, why didn't you do anything when it started going after her? Or at least warn her when it was getting close to her head." Because she wouldn't like to be surprised by that thing burrowing in to her ear, and judging by the icky dance the girl was doing, Dani guessed it was even worse than she thought it would be. Either that, or this chick was a total sissy.

She began to investigate the gum, crushed to the floor as it was, the life obviously gone now that it had been flattened to the ground. "Someone animated it or something, but if what he says is true and it came in through the under-door, then it couldn't be from any of the assholes in this room. It has to be from an asshole in another room." Yes, she was using the other girl's terminology, but didn't really mean it in a demeaning way towards anyone, not the girl or the other occupants of the lounge. She was just stating it in a matter-of-fact way, and this was the easiest word to use at the moment.

Jessica glared at the guy, her hand resuming it's scrubbing of her ear. That thing, that animated thing had tried to bury itself into her brain pan and that just wasn't cool.

Gross.

Degrading.

Germ-spreading.

Jess may be far from a germiphobe but regardless it was NOT something she wanted to experience ever. There we people--she'd seen them with her special 'connection'-- who would have loved the way the gum had felt. Would have wiggled and giggled and web-cammed the whole thing for a tidy profit. She, however, was not one of those people. Ever. Never ever ever.

"They're dead," two words, three if you didn't count the contraction, were more than enough to get her point across. The violated teen's tone was beyond cold and her eyes had a certain crazed look to them. "I know people. I know how to get in touch with people. I know how to put things into motion."

Clearly she had been the target of some awful heinous crime. And she was not going to stand for it.

Without so much as a thank you to either her male or female rescuers she marched out of the student lounge, fuming the while. She'd find them. She'd have revenge.

One way or another.
