Meiling shut the door quietly behind her and peered inside the staff lounge.
Despite having attended Hammel Institute, Mei was not at all surprised to see how much had changed in a decade. She was surprised, however, to see herself back at the school, this time serving as a kind of shrink for the students here. Leaving the quiet, normal, human workforce and entering meta-human employment was a rather uncharacteristic move on Meiling’s part. In any case, the twenty-seven year-old woman understood that there were opportunities everywhere, and her time at the Hammel Institute would not be wasted.
Today, Meiling had donned on a black, high-waisted skirt and a light blue, button-down tucked neatly within. Her ensemble was conservative, and perhaps a little over-dressed. Her long, black hair was parted down the middle and left cascading over her right shoulder. The black heels she wore added a few inches to her already average height.
Mei walked fluidly towards the couch and dropped her bag onto the arm rest. She looked around, taking in her surroundings. So this was where institute officials came to take breaks hm? Meiling wondered how difficult her job would have to be for her to come here to take breaks. It was too early to tell whether or not she would find her new job challenging or enjoyable.
Sitting down, and finding the couch deceptively comfortable, Mei crossed her legs and reached for the chart notes in her purse. She had decided it best to spend some time in the staff lounge before heading home. This was Mei’s passive-aggressive attempt to familiarize herself with school grounds, while perhaps running into a colleague or two.
