The Hammel institute was proving to be a rather huge place and to be honest, it was a bit scary too! People walked around the school, flaunting their powers and all Scarlett could do was watch. When she told people of her powers, they laughed at her, telling her that her powers were useless. Well, she thought, at least her powers actually did something that would give her an insight to people's minds. She was able to see anyone and anything's past and, to her, it was absolutely great.
Taking the tray of food from the lunch lady, Scarlett walked over to one of the unoccupied tables. She went and picked up some cutlery and a napkin and then walked back to the table, trying her hardest not to attract attention to herself as she moved with the elegance and the grace of the ballerina she was.
The food tasted rather normal and she couldn't quite understand why people in her dormitory complained about it so much. Really, all she had been given was an average beef burger and chips. Nothing more, nothing less.
Sensing that someone was watching her, Scarlett turned around to find herself face to ace with a boy of her age, maybe slightly younger. Like her, he seemed to be nervous so she tried to give him a reassuring smile which turned out more of a grimace. Making up for that, beckoned to him, "Come and sit with me if you like. I'm new too. My name is Scarlett, and you are?" she spoke in her posh English accent. Maybe the boy would think her weird and walk away. She hoped not.
