Lava Dodgeball {wide open}

"It's simple, really. The floor is lava. That's lava, and that's lava, and that over there is so lava. But any time you're standing on a mat, or on your personal shield, then you're not in lava, so you're not out. When you step on the lava, you're out. So you have to just move around and stuff. Oh, yeah," Max stopped her obviously important introduction to fling a red ball at the nearest person, hopefully connecting, "that's a flaming lava ball. Every time you're hit by one, you're out. So it's kind of like dodgeball, only more flamey. Also, cooler, because it's lava."

Max was standing on a floor mat, and she'd carefully spread several others out across the floor of the gymnasium, moving them close enough that a really long jump would get you from one to another safely. Plus, there were several personal mats, probably yoga mats, stashed in various places. Naturally Max had one in her hand, totally for demonstration purposes, and she'd held it up during each phase of the description process.

She tossed her ball into the air, then waved to a telekinetic. Soon the balls were shot into the field at large. "Nobody's out till we get things started!" yelled Max, flinging her own ball into the pit. They all bounced about, landing in various places.

"Oh yeah, and powers are totally cool! Just don't infirmary-ize anyone!" yelled Max. She placed both hands in the air, raising fingers. "On one, two, and MOVE!"

Lava dodgeball game one commence?

Ted didn't really want to be here. This was more for the athletically inclined people. but he was forced to be here. Just like in the normal school that he'd attended before he came here he was forced, once again, to join in a game of dodgeball. What happens if he just wasn't that good at dodging? He really didn't like getting hit a whole lot.

It sounded like a simple enough game. If anything it seemed a little too simple. But he was glad that they were able to use their powers. He hadn't found a whole lot of uses for his powers as of right now but he did feel that he had the opportunity to do well with this game because he could jump.

Distance jumping was Ted's speciality. He focused on the Satyr form that he'd semi-mastered. He grimaced in pain as his legs shifted backwards and tiny horns popped out of his head. His lower body was soon the correct Satyr form and he heard the girl say go. It was time to jump. Ted ducked and narrowly avoided being hit by the ball that was flying at him. Fortunately there was a ball right next to him and he picked it up. Ted lauched it at the girl who'd thrown the first ball. As soon as the ball was out of his hand he started jumping again and moving to a new spot. Hopefully he'd get in a position that wouldn't make him to vulnerable.

Leo was unfortunately forced to take part in this silly game. He was dressed in the only pair of gym shorts he could find, some red and gray ones that smelled funny from being at the bottom of his drawer for so long. They did nothing to take the eyes away from his embarrassing dark black hairs that carpeted his legs. Nor did they do anything to help Leo's confidence in playing this game.

From the description, it could have been invented by a five year old. Maybe, minus some of the dinosaurs and strange things five year old's would add. The application, however, was going to be more challenging. It was going to involve jumping, running, sliding, and dodging. All of which Leo could personally mark off on his 'what I suck at most' list.

Especially the dodging part.

Before the game even started, Leo got nailed straight in the face. The girl explaining had thrown the red ball as a descriptive device and of course instead of catching it as it came at him or ducking he stared wide eyed until it connected with his forehead. "Owww. . ." He grumbled, rubbing his hand against his head. So excited. He thought, cradling his head with his hand as he turned around.

As everyone ran, or rather hopped, off, Leo stood still grabbing the ball that hit him in the face and turning his head around side to side. With his peripheries starting to dwindle it meant lots of jagged head movements to catch anyone in his blind spots. Clutching his ball close he raggedly started hobbling from one carpet to another, trying to stay out of harms way.

"Turtle power!" giggled Max, dodging and rolling. She'd grabbed the "personal shield" that everyone was supposed to have, aka: a yoga mat. Said mat had been pulled up over her head, and she'd rolled in it, careful not to touch the actual lava. It effectively created a shell, much like an armadillo, about the girl, leaving her arms free to keep throwing things.

It did vaguely occur to Max that she needed to keep moving, but she was determined to milk her "brilliant" move for a while first. This meant reaching for and flinging each and every ball within her land radius. Considering where she'd landed, that was a fairly large area. She also made a fairly large target though, with balls regularly bouncing into and bouncing off of the mat surrounding her. It sounded like rain, and one or two was getting way too close.

Definitely time to move. Max kicked down her mat, took store of the people around her, made a wild shot at what she swore was a blonde satyr, then lunged for the safe areas. So far, so good. In the fact that other people were actually playing and nobody had beaned Max.
