There seemed to be a lot more yammering going on in the hallways at Hammel. More than usual at least. Not that Harmony really cared. Who wanted to hear about the drama of a bunch of lame goody-two-shoes weirdoes anyway? So like every other day, Harmony did her best to stay out of it. She was too busy with her own stuff.
She had woken up that morning with a pit in her stomach. At first she though it was the crappy cafeteria food, but it was dawning on her that she was a little homesick. Not that she would ever admit it out loud. Ever. Still, she was considering calling up her uncle. Maybe there was a chance he’d wanna hang out. But probably not.
I’ll give him a buzz later…maybe tomorrow. He’ll probably be too busy working, she thought to herself as she walked to her first class. But it’s worth a shot. I guess…
She turned around suddenly when she heard someone calling her name down the hall. Something about her arrival on campus and being carried like a toddler the other day. By some hot knight in shinning armor.
Harmony started to blush even before she could begin to argue. At least it started out as blushing. But instead of her face feeling hot with anger and embarrassment, it almost felt cold. Reaching up her hand to her face, she felt that her skin had gone cold and hard. She dropped her books just as she heard her jacket start to rip.
‘Wha...?” she said with confusion, embarrassment, and fear all rolling into one syllable. She looked around at the faces of her peers, searching for some sort of explanation, before turning to run down the hall. But her legs didn't want to cooperate. They were extremely heavy and reacted slowly, causing her to trip and fall spread-eagle onto the floor. What is wrong with me?
