The car pulled up at the school once more and Cassidy felt her heart sinking more. The school holidays were over and it was Monday. Time to return to school once again. She didn't want to but the next day, school would start. in this place where she had no friends and no family. She was returning to a place that she hated.

It wasn't that bad anymore with Lani and Sage paying attention to her but she was still feeling immensely off about it. She didn't want to be there.
"Here we are darling!"
Her mom announced from the front seat and Cassidy sighed. Her mom was already making her way out into the sunshine snow covered world but her dad seemed to pick up the sadness in his daughter.

He glanced over his shoulder at Cassidy and frowned.
"Batface? Come on. You need to make friends. You need to start enjoying your childhood. What did we talk about? "
Cassidy pouted and crossed her arms over her chest watching her mother almost dance up Hammel's steps.
"I wanna go home."
Cassidy whined softly.

"I'll make you a deal. You get out of the care and I won't pummel Lani..."
Swick's eyes narrowed out the back window and he looked like he was about to explode with anger. Cassidy gasped at her father's face then scrambled out the car and ran up the steps backpack slung over her shoulder. She glanced back over her shoulder at her dad not noticing when she crashed straight into another boy her own age.

She flailed and let out a scream as she tried to balance herself so she couldn't go stumbling down the stairs then grabbed onto the boy's jacket hoping he could keep himself upright.

[ooc: I am so sorry for the delay! But now I am back, caught up on life, and everything should be better.]

Jordan had been in the middle of contemplation about his latest homework assignment. He was still trying to figure out how he was going to make time to finish the report while having time to run some of his errands for Mia, not to mention writing home to his mother and trying to practice his guitar. It was really little wonder that he didn't notice the girl coming up the stairs beside him.

"Woah!" he shouted, pinwheeling his arms as he tried to stay upright. Unfortunately, because she'd grabbed onto his jacket he wasn't able to keep himself standing. He toppled onto the steps, but luckily managed to fall to one side so he didn't land on top of her. Whoever she was.

Narrowing his eyes, he glanced at the large suitcases being unloaded from the back of the car. Even for a Christmas holiday break to visit family, that was a lot of stuff. Which meant...

"Newbie, huh?" he asked, standing and checking his pants for holes. He couldn't afford to lose another pair of jeans. "You might want to be careful where you're going next time, though I think since you haven't been here long the administration will probably let you slide." He smiled a little to show he was joking, then put out his hand to help her up.

It didn't hurt to be nice, especially since you never knew who was watching. Also, of course, there was no way to know what this girl's power was. She could make a bad enemy, and then there was family to think of...

"My name is Jordan," he said. "You need help with anything?" He was busy, but not so busy he could get away with missing out on finding out about another student at the school.

"You know where your room is and everything? I could show you where to go if you want. It's not too far or anything, but it can be easy to get lost here."

Cassidy thought that Jordan would be strong enough to stand her weight and his but the moment he flailed she wasn't too sure anything like that would occur. They both went down the stairs and hit them hard enough to cause a few sniggers as students came back from their holidays to find Jordan and the girl sprawled across the floor. Cassidy groaned and slowly tried to correct herself rubbing her head that had hit the concrete of the stairs. Her face flushed with red when she noticed all the eyes on her.

She slowly sat up and moved so she was seated on a stair frowning at the boy who didn't seem that much older then her. Her eyes narrowed in slight anger at him. What a moron. He thought she was new but she wasn't. She was totally not new. He must have hit his head harder then she had thought if he thought she was new then again, maybe she looked new.
"Cassidy! Are you guys okay?!"
Her father came running up to the two of them and knelt down beside an arm on Cassidy's back.

She pushed her hair behind her ears and nodded quick lowering her eyes.
"Yes, I think we're okay. This is Jordan."
Travis looked between the boy and the girl before he helped his daughter to her feet and slowly backed away toward the car again.
"I'll take your stuff up to your room and go find your mom. We'll call you for lunch."
Cassidy winced watching her father.

No, why was he leaving her? Didn't he get she'd never change? She'd never wanna make friends. This was awkward on all sorts of levels for her. She gave a sigh and turned back to Jordan.
"First of all, I'm not new. Secondly, I have loads of stuff cause I'm a girl. Thirdly... I'm uh... sorry about the fall. "
Cassidy shifted her weight from one foot to the other and glanced around a little before shrugging.

"So uh... how was your holidays?"
Yeah what else was she supposed to say? She needed friends her own age. Her father had pointed that out by walking away rapidly after she'd introduced Jordan to him.

Her parents had come to drop her off. That was nice. But maybe they lived farther away, which would mean they would want to spend more time with their children before saying good-bye.

"Hello," Jordan said, waving to the girl's (Cassidy, had he said the name was?) dad as he was being eyeballed. The guy was acting really weird, and backed away, almost as though he expected Jordan to pull out a gun and shoot them all. Grown-ups could be so strange.

"Huh?" he asked Cassidy as she started to explain herself. "Really? You looked just kind of...strange, I guess. Most people who have been here before don't really run into things. Or people." But the stuff about girls having lots of stuff made sense. His mother always took about five suitcase on trips, while he only ever had one duffel bag.

"Don't worry about it. It's not like anything's broken." Had he been in pain it might be different. But even then he knew it often paid off to be nice to others. He only made enemies when people were clearly asking for it.

He was a little surprised at her next question. To him it seemed like she might not really want to talk, or she didn't know what to talk about, but was trying. He decided to help out. "Well, I just went home. We had a big dinner at my grandma's place, and then there was a food fight and one of my uncles got really upset. But other than that not much happened. Though I did get some great presents, like my parents gave me extra strings and picks for my guitar."

There. If she was interested in learning more about him, he'd left her an opening. And if she wanted out, well, she could make some vague comment about her presents and run off.

Cassidy giggled at Jordan's alarm at her father's reaction to him and shrugged her shoulders.
"My dad likes sizing up the kids he plans on killing in the not too distant future ya know? "
Cassidy bit into her bottom lip letting the joke settle in for a moment before she shook her head.
"I've never been good with my peers. Dad wants me to make friends my own age..."
She rolled her eyes as if the idea was a total bore to her and picked up a stand of her long blind hair lain on her shoulder to inspect it from split ends.

Cassidy narrowed her eyes when he mentioned how stange she was and seemed to him and her lips pulled into a thin line.
"Maybe you were in my way. Maybe you should learn to stay out of other people's way and not call them strange for a start."
Her nose wrinkled as if she was about to snarl at the boy. Cassidy was suddenly a whole lot more interested in Jordan when he mentioned strings and a picks.

"You play guitar? "
Her eyes narrowed playfully this time and the corners of her mouth almost turned into a smile.
"How good are you at playing? "
She wanted to learn how to play! Maybe Jordan, who seemed sickly sweet and ditzy enough not to be pulled into any sort of nasty little Hammelescapades with Lani, wasn't that bad of a contact to have around.

Especially if he could teach her to play the guitar!
"You ever taught anyone to play?"
She began leading the way to the dorms beckoning for him to follow. When the Rents were leaving, they would just call her anyway. She'd be perfectly safe to go wandering off with Jordan.
