Lucy in the Sky with Ollie (Lucy)

[Olivia James]

The energy was practically explosive within Ollie, now that she would be going to Hammel like her sister was. Although that wasn't the real reason, it was more because she had a power like her brother did. Well, their powers weren't the same, but she had a power now. Of course she never expected that she would have to eat so much in her life.

She was quite literally coming from the biggest breakfast she ever had, and yet she still wanted to stop at the cafeteria in the school to get something more already. But that was mostly because she was burning some of her energy trying to produce her power again. That had become a frequent occurrence. She'd fiddle with her hands like she was trying to make a firework explode but she would get a couple sparks around her fingers and nothing more. She knew it would take a while to get her power down, but that didn't mean she couldn't try.

Despite the want to stop at the cafeteria, Ollie didn't really know where it was, which was why she was currently sitting in the main office waiting for her apparent helper to show her around the school and get her settled in. Her brother had at least managed to be able to take her to the office, but he had work and classes to deal with, and Ollie wanted to broaden out and see other people with powers, and her brother had told her about some kind of club that helped out younger students at the school.

So, while she waited, her knees were bouncing together underneath her satchel bag while her hands were pressed on her bag. Bill, Ollie's lizard was sitting in the chest pocket of her jean jacket she wore over her spaghetti strap tri-colored dress. And Ollie's face was beaming with all the excitement that seemed to be coursing through her. She even tipped her head down to look at Bill with a bright smile, "I wonder what my student mentor person will be like? I hope they are nice!"

[Lucy Holiday]

The student council had asked for volunteers, so here she was. Lucy had happily volunteered as they explained the program that matched fledgling Hammellites with someone who had been around a while. Lucy thought it was a brilliant idea. She remembered all too well what it felt like to hit puberty, manifest an ability and get shipped off to Hammel all in one week. Way overwhelming! Lulu could definitely see how it would be nice to have an older Hammel student to help ease the chaos. Besides, the thought of being a tour guide made her giggle.

Lucy resisted the urge to wear a cute little tour guide like uniform complete with an adorable blazer and a name tag. Even though it would be epic, Lucy didn't want to scare the kid off with her odd fashion sense. Instead Lucy settled for mildly epic with a super cute striped sweater, ruffled jacket, comfy jeans and kick ass boots. Oh, and heart shaped glasses. Don't forget the bright pink, heart shaped glasses. Of course the long, thick hair was fake - but the kid wouldn't be able to tell. Lucy was once again wearing a wig instead of using her ability.

Dressed for success and grinning ear to ear, Lucy made her way to the main office to meet her little protege...er...assignment. Pausing at the door, Lucy glanced down at the little note card that she held in her hand. In somewhat elegant script, the card read Olivia James...age 12...Energy Manipulation. Oh good, it was a girl! With her little brother Noah around, Lucy had her fill of teenaged boys. The name James bounced around in her head for a moment before Lucy made the connection. Wait! The art teacher! His last name was James. Amused, Lulu wandered if it was a coincidence or something more. The stick of a tootsie pop stuck out from between Lucy's painted lips as she stood studying the card. With a shrug, she stuffed the card into her back pocket and adjusted the rose covered black messenger bag hanging from her shoulder as she opened the door.

Yep. There she was. It didn't take Lucy long to figure out who Olivia was. There was only one girl sitting in the row of uncomfortable chairs. One adorable little girl who looked like she was a sheer bundle of nerves...or energy. Either way, the fidgeting was pretty obvious. Lucy chuckled and pulled the lollipop out of her mouth with a loud slurp. Confidently, she strolled over to the girl who was talking to a lizard - wait...what - yep, a lizard! It was official. Lucy was gonna love this kid! With a grin on her lips, Lucy answered the question that she was probably not meant to hear. "I bet she will be totally epic. Oh, and her name is Lucy - Lucy Holiday." Lucy held her hand out to seal the introduction. "And that would be me."

"Eeek!" Ollie exclaimed as she jumped slightly in her chair, which caused Bill to zoom up from her pocket onto her shoulder. Olivia's eyes went wide as she looked up at where the voice had come from, seeing the hand held out for her, along with black hair, heart shaped sun-glasses and amazing boots that weren't just some plain color!

Ollie shot her own hand out to shake with a stiff arm. "Hi, Lucy! I'm Ollie. Oh..." the little ball of energy paused, as she pointed her other hand to the lizard tip-toeing on her shoulder. "And this is Bill. He wouldn't let me leave without him today."

Her hand slipped away as she pushed her bag back down to her side and stood up with a spring in her step. Her hands slipped behind her back while Bill shifted on her shoulder, his tail whipping a few times. "You scared me! I didn't think anyone else was here."

"You are very sneaky!" Ollie added as she pulled one of her hands free and held it up to her shoulder for Bill to step on. She opened her messenger bag with the other hand and slipped Bill inside, letting him snuggle against the scarf and whatever warm thermos drink her father had packed for her today.

Once that was finished she brushed her hands over the ends of her dress skirt and down the top of her yellow, blue and green striped tights, before looking back at her new escort? No, no, Friend. She leaned up on her tip toes and rocked back as her hands slipped back behind her again and she smiled brightly at Lucy. Ollie wasn't exactly one for silence so she added, "I love your boots. So much better than plain black or brown..."

"...And your bag." Ollie continued, looking down at her own plain jean messenger bag. She had asked her father if she could decorate it, but he said it was for school and should look nice, not covered in funny things or glitter. Her eyes quickly returned to Lucy, where she licked her lips in hunger at noticing the Lollipop.

[Lucy Holiday]

With just a few simple words, Lucy had apparently set off some sort of ticking time bomb of energy. As if to prove the theory, the petite girl actually jumped. It was a good thing that Lucy was used to dealing with high energy kids. Her brother was about as high energy as it comes. Or so Lucy thought until she met Olivia. Lucy chuckled as the girl shook her hand a bit awkwardly. "Ollie. That's cute." It was an absolutely adorable nickname for an absolutely adorable little girl. Lucy randomly wondered if she was that cute when she was 12. Lucy gave Ollie's hand a few good shakes before letting it drop.

Lucy's Hershey colored eyes followed the girl's slender finger as she looked down at the seated pair. "Bill. Got it. He's pretty awesome!" Ollie was lucky that Lucy wasn't one of the prissy, snotty girls that would squeal and run away at the sight of a reptile. If one of those girls spotted Bill and started complaining, the teachers would probably ask that Ollie leave him behind. But for now, Lucy thought it was pretty epic that the girl was walking around with a lizard on her shoulder.

A tiny step backward was necessary when the younger girl popped up out of her chair like she'd been the victim of a spring loaded ejection seat. Lucy chuckled. For a moment she felt a bit of sympathy toward Bill, but he seemed to handle the ride pretty well. Lucy gave the girl a wry grin. "Sneaky? Me? Ha! You don't even know the half of it." Lucy giggled for a bit, thinking of all the pranks she had played without ever getting caught. Then again...the ones she got busted for were pretty epic, too. "But I totally didn't mean to scare you. I promise." Lucy felt obligated to throw that in since Bill the lizard seemed to be giving her a rather judgmental look. Lucy didn't have time to figure it out before Bill was happily slipped inside the girl's warm messenger bag.

Silently, the fashionable teen applauded herself for picking just the right outfit. "Aww...thanks! Those tights are pretty awesome, too. I like the stripes." Yep. They were pretty cute. Lucy stuck the sucker back in her mouth and slurped on it eagerly. Most people would just chalk it up to her rather famous sweet tooth. Only a handful of peeps actually knew Lucy kept them on hand to help control the hunger from the steroids. Double bonus, they helped with the chemo nausea, too. As she noticed Olivia staring at the stick hanging out of her mouth, Lucy giggled. It only took her a few seconds to reach into her back pocket and fish one out for Ollie. "Want one?

Bill was pretty awesome. Especially for him having been a wild lizard until Ollie got a hold of him. Most people didn't give him enough credit, so Ollie was excited that someone noticed, instead of freaking out about a lizard being around. She made sure to mostly hide Bill, and in some way Ollie figured Bill knew who to hide from. Some days he seemed smarter than Ollie even. Once he was tucked away though, Ollie was more than ready to go.

"It's okay. I totally wasn't scared!" Ollie lied, as she adjusted her bag on her body and smiled triumphantly almost up to Lucy. She kind of wished she could be as sneaky as Lucy was. Actually Lucy seemed pretty awesome already and they only just met!

"Thanks! I like tights, especially when its colder." Ollie explained while briefly looking down at her dress and tights. Looking down though, reminded her of how hungry she was. She placed a hand at her stomach but didn't say anything, she didn't want to seem weird in front of her new friend already. Then again she hadn't realized a lot of the students here, had odd conditions.

Ollie's eyes lit up almost immediately and she gasped when Lucy offered her a sucker too. She bounced on her feet a few times. "Really? I can have one?! Thank you!! Thank you!!" Ollie exclaimed before jumping Lucy into a hug and nuzzling her for a moment before pulling back her hand slipped around the sucker Lucy offered to her. She beamed a bright smile as she unwrapped it and popped it into her mouth, with a very proud and happy grin on her face.

"Mmmmm Mmmm." Ollie murmured as she sucked on the pop a few times before looking back up at Lucy. She didn't even remove the sucker as she tried to speak again. "Are you gonna be showin' me aroun'? 'Cause zat woul' be crazy awesome!"

Lucy dropped the subject and found no reason to continue apologizing once Olivia insisted that she wasn't scared. Of course in the back of her mind she totally made a mental note not to sneak up on the high strung girl in the future. Olivia was such a bundle of energy that Lucy was afraid she'd shoot off like a bottle rocket if Lucy ever actual did give her a good scare. With that covered, Lucy moved on to the next topic.

One of her favorites - fashion. Lucy gave Olivia a nod. "Yep. They come in handy." Cute, fashionable and sensible. Lucy was liking this kid more and more. Lucy spied the girl's hand slip to her stomach and wondered if she had more than just a sweet tooth. Maybe she needed to seriously think about feeding this kid before she took her on a tour. Olivia's overly exuberant acceptance of the sucker was just too adorable! The gasp simply made Lucy giggle. This kid was as excited about food as her brother Noah.

"Of course you can! I always come prepared." Lucy let out a little oof as she was enveloped in the grateful hug. She continued to chuckle as she gave Ollie a pat on the back and hugged her back gently. Aww...this kid really was sweet! Lucy loved hugs. And the goofy, happy little grin on Olivia's face as she finally popped the sucker in her mouth was just priceless. Lucy shook her head. "So, are you a total sweet tooth gremlin or something?" Lucy had her suspicion that it was more of an or something but she new some kids were sensitive about their side effects, so she didn't flat out ask.

Easily understanding the full mouth language, Lucy nodded with a grin. "Yep! I'm your own personal tour guide and mentor and such. What would you like to see first?" Lucy was about to suggest cafeteria, but once again she decided to let Olivia take the lead.

Candy was not exactly one of those things Ollie always got to indulge in. Her brother and father tended to keep it away from her more often than anything else. And it wasn't like Ollie had a major sweet tooth, she liked candy, but it became such a big thing for her to have because she rarely got it. And generally anyone that had seen her when she had candy, would heavily agree with her brother and father.

Lucy just happened to be one of those people that hadn't been privy to this knowledge before hand. Not that it really mattered all that much with a sucker. But there would probably come a time to where lack of that knowledge could be dangerous for Lucy! Unfortunately Ollie had no plans to tell her such a thing, how else would she get candy?

"I am not a gremlin! I'm a girl!" Ollie reprimanded almost immediately, as she slipped the sucker to one side of her mouth. Her mouth still sounding somewhat filled but more understandable at least. Her cheeks puffed up though as a side effect, and she crossed her arms. "I has a condition though. I have to eat lots and lots because of my power. Otherwise I get really sicky and not happy and have to have doctors stick things in me that hurt."

Ollie softened up quickly though, as she figured Lucy didn't really mean to call Ollie a Gremlin. Gremlins were mean after all, always causing trouble, well except for Gizmo, Gizmo was awesome! And Adorable! But still, she got wet all the time so she couldn't be a Gizmo. Ollie shook her head to sneak away from that train of thought though, with being asked where she wanted to go first.

"I get to pick?" Ollie wondered, as her hand slipped up to hold onto the stick of her lollipop. She popped it from her mouth after a couple seconds of hard thinking, which showed on her face, and smiled at Lucy. "I want to go to your favoritest place at the school!"

Olivia's strong reaction to Lucy's little pet name made her chuckle. It seemed that the slender girl had a tendency to take people pretty seriously. Lucy made note of that little issue so she could make sure to keep her teasing at a minimum. Holiday pretended to pout. "Aww...but gremlins are adorable, and tons of fun! As long as you don't get them wet." She nodded with a grin, wondering if the younger girl even knew about the old movie.

The second part of her companion's speech, Lucy took very seriously. She'd seen a couple of kids her age pass out because of stuff like that. "Don't worry, I'll keep ya well fed today. You just tell me if you feel hungry." Lucy's nod was her promise. The understanding was written all over her face as the little girl mentioned being poked by doctors. Lucy spend way too much of her time being poked and prodded by needles -but that was a harsh reality that she didn't want to burden Olivia with. Instead, Lucy just gave her a sympathetic look.

As Olivia contemplated where to go, Lucy shifted the weight of her messenger bag in anticipation. She figured the new student would have a million suggestions, but instead she just put it back on Lucy. Of course the older teen thought of the student lounge first. That was totally her favorite place, but not exactly the best place to start a school tour. Rolling her own lollipop around in her mouth, Lucy thought for a minute. "Aha! The training rooms!" Her pointer finger pointed toward the direction of her destination eagerly. "The training rooms are awesome. That's where you learn all about your power and get to practice using it all sorts of ways." Lucy waited with a grin to see if Olivia would object to the suggestion.
