Paperwork was ridiculous.

She got the recruits safely over to Pilot Ridge, shouldn't someone else do the paperwork for her? Noooo, she had to do it herself. Okay sure, she wasn't the only one who had to do it but come the heck on. She could be hanging at home with her very hot girlfriend or messing up bedsheets with her very hot boy toy but was she? Of course not.

She had to do paperwork.

With the last one on her desk done, Ella went to send them off to James before grabbing another pile from the huge pile that marked 'Ella'. She turned on her heels and went back to her desk only to bump into another recruiter who had a taller pile in his hand. The collision sent it plopping to the ground and scattering. And so did hers.

"Mother father!" She gasped out before kicking a few files away with the tips of her booted toes. "Fuck it, I am not doing all that..." she looked up at her fellow recruiter and smirked. "Sober. Get a drink with me. Maybe they'd look more appealing with a few tequila shots in us."

Paperwork, really? Milan partially understood why they had to do the paperwork on the students recruited by them given it was important to have keep track of such important documents, but at the same time it really bothered him just how much time got occupied by it. Then again, he had to find a silver lining and assumed that doing them now would give him more spare time later on. Besides, he was close to done anyway, so he wasn’t going to complain. All he had to do was finish one last pile and he could go and relax during a walk in the forest with Doodle.

After he had rose from his desk, the recruiter went to grab another pile and spun around to head back to his own desk. He had spotted Ella in the corner of his eye, but he hadn’t exactly been paying any attention to where she was going, so the last he had expected was to bump into someone. Papers soon flew up into the air, floating down to the ground, but his main concern was to check on the woman, especially as she cursed. It was a relief to see she hadn’t hit the floor, yet that didn’t take away reality hitting him like a train of bricks. Damn.

A hand rose, ruffling it through his hair before pinching the bridge of his nose and then rubbing his face with both hands. It took him a couple of seconds to realize Ella was addressing her words to him. He was still rubbing his face in despair as blue eyes drifted to the young woman. Milan obviously contemplated this, pondering about the suggestion. He knew he should not accept it, but still… ”Maybe? I’m sure it will look more appealing.” He eventually agreed, more than convinced they could take a break. As long as they finished things later on, it would all work out.

”Show the way.” He mused.

Milan's gestures almost made Ella feel sorry for him but the prospect of having a drinking buddy surpassed that guilt and she patted him on the back before scooping up half the dropped pile and threw them on the nearest table. "We will deal with you later. Maybe."

She turned on her heels and walked in the direction of the exit. "There's a bar just down the road that I frequent. We could go there. Unless you have another place you fancy more." Ella shrugged, none too particular about beer joints. As long as the alcohol there got her nice and buzzed, she could give a rat's ass about poor service or sucky food.

They walked further out of the compound in relative silence. Ella didn't really know Milan too well. Just the occasional hellos and shop talk mostly. Honestly, he just looked way too shy for her.

"Were you from Hammel? Before I mean." Ella asked, turning slightly so he knew she was listening.

Maybe deal with the papers later? No, definitely. Milan would not forgive himself if this paperwork did not get finished, but he could not refuse a drink either. With hands tucked into the pockets of his jeans, he followed by Ella’s side. “That bar sounds good.” He could care less where they went, as long as there was a moment during which their current problems could be forgotten.

At the question, blue eyes fell down to the woman and he nodded. “Yeah. I graduated four years ago, took a year off and then applied as recruiter at Hammel. How about you? What did you do before coming here?” Might as well get to know one another better.

Once they arrived at the mentioned bar, the man let Ella choose where they would take a seat. After all, she was more of a regular there than he was. He even opted to order the same drink as her, if only because his knowledge about alcohol wasn’t that developed.
