The Basics
Name: Stella Aiai Pinyin
Nicknames: Glow Stick, Stell, Rabbit (by her uncle only)
Age: 17
Orientation: Hetro
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Light andDarkness Manipulation- Stella is able to manipulate both light and darkness, and can either black out the surrounding area, or cause a bright, blinding flash to illuminate or debilitate. Side effects include extreme sensitivity to natural light, as well as partial night blindness. Stella is unable to control either light or darkness as of yet; they tend to burst out if she is at a heightened level of emotion. Given her poor eyesight, when Stella causes a blackout, she herself is left completely blind, however having had bad eyesight her whole life, she is good at moving around without sight. At night, Stella emmits her own light, though it is not strong enough to see much by.

General Appearance: Stella is an albino, a blank slate of a girl. She has an oval face, with symmetric fine boned features, a thin nose, and large violet eyes, though her eyes glow or darken when she is about to use her powers. Her facial bone structure causes her appearance to be rather delicate; there a sense of fragility about her. Her thick hair hangs down to her waist, a shinning pure white with a hint of silver, straight and usually tied back with a wide black ribbon.
At 5 foot 3, Stella does not exactly impose and has a rather slight build, with thin hips and a tiny waist, as she has a very small appetite. She is quite fit, and her limbs are toned, as is her stomach. Stella’s skin is rather pale as she is usually only active at night, though her complexion is healthy.
She wears darker colours, as well as white and black usually very fine fabrics, such as silk for skirts and velvet for her tops. She is aware her style of dress is old-fashioned, but feels more at ease in her chosen attire. As she burns very easily in the sun, Stella usally makes sure her shoulders and arms are covered, and never wears trousers, preferring skirts that usually hang to just above her knees.
She wears black ankle boots with a moderate heel if going out but flat for practical wear, and around her neck a small sliver star-pendant. Her arms are usually ringed with silver, some of the bracelets set with jet and crystal.
At night, especially when the stars are out, Stella glows softly with a faint white light. However she suffers mild night blindness, and it takes her eyes a much longer time to adjust to low levels of light then normal. Her eyesight is also poor during the day, and she can not stand too much sun. As a result she always wears sunglasses outside, no matter what the weather conditions are, and prefers to stay awake at night and sleep during the day. It is not uncommon for her to take a "blind man's stick" out with her when she goes for walks.
Personality: Stella is a recluse. She is uncomfortable in crowds, as she feels threatened and unsure how to react, so she usually goes off into a corner, to avoid attracting attention. She tries to put herself out in order to meet new people, and not many realize how uneasy this can make her feel. She also is not one for physical intimacy; she rarely hugs anyone, and is uncomfortable when people she does not know touch her.
She is very empathetic, able to relate to people’s problems when one on one. She hates to see people sad or unhappy. She has the ability to be able just to sit and listen, and to know when not to offer her opinion.
Stella has had little company for her childhood, so is unsure how to act around other people. This has also caused the girl to be very naive to the true intent of people around her. Unable to sense when people are lying, Stella takes everything at face value, and so believes the best in people. This can lead to her being easily manipulated, and very gullible.
Stella is most comfortable at night, and loves looking at the stars, as they remind her of her parents (see history). She dresses in dark blue and silver to mimic the night, to remind her of the time when she is most comfortable

Family Ties

History
Stella knows little about her history. She was raised from the age of two by of a distant cousin of her fathers, a wealthy psychologist who moved from Hong Kong to American in order to raise the girl by himself. She could remember very little about her parents, for no photos can be unearthed. In truth, her father and mother left her there to investigate the landing site of a recently fallen star. The magnetic properties of the rock confused the couple's car's navigation systems, and the car drove over the lip of the newly formed creater. The car flipped, and the Qius were killed almost instantly. Mark had been unaware he was named as the next of kin to take care of the Qiu's child, but he adpoted the quiet, white haired girl and quickly became attached to her.
When Stella was dropped off at her guardian's, she had a jade pendent around her neck, and she never removes it.
Stella chose her own last name when 13, after the moon rabbit in Chinese mythology, with permission from her guardian. It was formally Mark's own, Liu, but he took no offense to her change.
Given the girl’s already unnatural appearance, Mark decided it was too dangerous to let the girl out of the house, unless he accompanied her. As a result, Stella was home schooled, until it was becoming increasingly obvious that his ward was attracting attention from the outside world. It became all the more difficult when, shortly after her 19th birthday, Stella began to glow once the sun had gone down. Neighbours could hardly miss noticing the girl next door who glowed at night.
It came to a head one night a week later when two men from the house down the road witnessed Mark and Stella having an argument as the girl refused to go back inside. Suddenly, there was a blinding flash of light, leaving Mark and the nosy neighbours temproarily blinded.
The situation may have turned ugly, however the arrival of an official, who told Mark and Stella of a school just for individuals with extra ordinary talents, ensured the girl was whisked away before she could be found by persons with darker intentions.
Roleplay Example
A shaft of sunlight had crept though the crack in the blue curtains to strike Stella’s closed eyes. She winced and sighed as the sun’s glare pierced though the soft mist of slumber. Her eyes opened slowly, as the last dregs of sleep slid off. Slowly, so as not to disturb her sleeping cat, Stella slid out of her bed. Celeste made a small mew of protest as her bedding slid under her (the black cover having been disturbed slightly by Stella’s departure), but soon settled down again, occasionally twitching in some dream of hers.
Stella stood before her mirror, and stared. A thin, slightly blurred figure in a white nightgown stared back. Stella pulled a face, and, ignoring the one her reflection pulled back, turned to her cupboard. The butterflies in her stomach had surfaced again, fluttering madly as if perused by some small child with a net, the feeling dulling her violet eyes to a greyer shade. She bit her lip gently in an attempt to still them, and got dressed slowly and deliberately.
Mark had breakfast ready for her when she emerged. Porridge steamed in twin bowls as she took her seat opposite him and ate.
“Nervous?” he asked sympathetically, having learnt the significance of the present hue of her eyes. Stella smiled ruefully and nodded, before putting her bowl of practically untouched porridge on the kitchen table.
“It’ll be ok.” He assured her, after casting a worried look at her still full bowl. But he knew better then to tell her to eat more. Stella never ate much.
“I’ll miss Celeste.” Stella sighed. “And you, of course.”
“Of course.” Mark replied, smiling briefly at his ward. She smiled back.
Stella rinsed her bowl and dried it, all the while thinking about eh school she was soon to join. She had never really interacted with more then one person at a time, and now she was going to a vastly populated school. The bowl was dry now, but Stella continued to wipe it with a tea towel, her mind on other matters..
