The Basics
Name: Mia Skye Keystone
Nicknames: Ice queen, geek, nerd, weirdo
Age: 17
Orientation: Yet to find a guy or a girl worth that kind of time
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Technopathy and mild electronic communication
Mia is able to switch most electronics on and off with a look, a thought, or for more stubborn appliances, a touch. Perhaps the most practical aspects of her power is her ability to repair glitches (or cause them) in programming, as well as upgrade capacity and speed.
However, Mia is unable to control purely mechanical objects which possess no electronic components (steam trains, most guns), and requires close proximity to the object she is manipulating.
Though nowhere near as powerful, over the first few years at Hammel, Mia also began to develop the ability to communicate and rewrite programing using binary and other programming codes mentally.
This ability is put to use most often by the teenager to help her hack computers. To do this, she needs to be able to touch the computer itself in some form, but while she may be typing so fast her fingers blur, most of her work is mental. The computer will “nudge” her in the right direction. Even without her powers, Mia’s hacking skills are formidable. With them and her constant search for information, she could be a national threat.
Mia is powerless away from modern society, and so always takes her laptop or other electronic equipment with her at all times. A camping trip is her worst nightmare.

The Details
Hair Color: Dark brown, but she dyes it black
Eye Color: hazel
Any Piercings? a double lip ring
Any Tattoos? a space invader on her wrist, and "knowledge is power" on binary over her back. The tattooist had no idea what was up with all the 1s and 0s, but made sure he had them in the right order.
Any Scars? a small line across her right palm from when she put her hand on the wire grid in front of a heater when she was one.
General Appearance: At only 5 feet high, Mia is well aware that she’s not intimidating. The round face she inherited from her mother’s side of the family only makes her look more doll like. In an attempt to counteract all that, Mia keeps her hair hacked short, and died black. The lip rings help as well, not to mention the tattoos. Still, over the last two years Mia’s body seemed to join in the fight to help make her look older; her chest went insane. Unlike some girls who might see it as an asset, Mia hates her chest and usually always wears sports bras under baggy shirts or high collar T-shirts with slogans. Dresses are a no; Mia wears jeans almost all the time; she has a purple pair she is especially fond of. Bomber jackets and military-esc arm bands are also reoccurring favorites, and a worn brown leather jacket is always in the place of honer in her wardrobe.
When on a “mission”, Mia’s outfits are unpredictable. There’s the classic dark glasses and black trench, but apart from that, it could be anything. Mia’s gone Upper East Side-esc, she’s dressed in flannel and doc martins to check out a rumor about a lesbian bar.... She’s even gone Lolita to sneak into a Japanese business convention.
Makeup is only for undercover. Otherwise, Mia avoids it like the plague. Except for Koal around her eyes. But even the Egyptians were into that, so it’s ok.
Personality: Mia is a solemn yet energetic girl who has a passion for gathering mass amounts of detail and data: useless trivia, gossip, observations and the like.
To her, any piece of information is another stepping stone in the journey for "the Truth". If she catches wind something interesting, Mia will go to extreme lengths to uncover more details to get to the core of the event. She will wear disguises, attempt to be intimidating, attempt to blend in with her surroundings, utilize her tech savy-ness, anything to aid her in her quest for truth. She's inquisitive, assertive, possibly obsessive-compulsive and a fast talker which could be considered a talent and an annoyance to people who know of her.
Though annoying, she's dead serious and dead-on in her acquired information and treats knowledge as a precious treasure; she would not just give information away without compensation. Furthermore, it's better to be on her side and treat her with respect, otherwise she can use information and action against those she dislike. All she does it gather information; now what people do with it is not her problem!
Most who know of her usual antics (including impeccable if odd costume designs) would find it hard to believe that she is capable of having a more subdued side to her personality. Mia is constantly troubled by her reliance on electronics, and the huge differences between ‘communicating’ with a computer and having to talk to a person. It is impossible for Mia to act in a way other then how she feels. If she does not like you, she does not see the need to pretend to. Computers don’t need things sugarcoated, why should anyone else?
While not quick to anger, Mia is much more comfortable being able to yell then to have to talk about her “feelings”. As a result, she manages to channel most negative emotions into anger, and bottles them up until she explodes in hot molten crazy all over anyone standing too near.
Her general likes are plotting, spying on others with odd costumes and gadgets sent to her from her older brother and his "contacts". She's most amused by the situations that would arise in a superpowered school setting. She'll meddle...if it benefits her. Her general dislikes include people that talk too much about nominal and boring subjects (love, idle threats, life stories, etc), distractions from her spying jobs, "emotional vampires" (clingy people) and pity-cases. Unless a person means something to her, she cares little about people's feelings and tends to refer to other people as objects. What the hell would she care?

Strengths: Mia can be brave to the point of recklessness. She can conceive danger, it just rarely outweighs her curiosity, or her need to protect someone. If Mia has decided she actually likes somebody, she would do anything for them, even if sometimes she can be overprotective. In so far as relationships, Mia can be a very jealous person, and does not listen to excuses. She has a very black and white concept of good and bad, and while she has no tolerance for victims, she will step in she feels someone has gone out of hand.
Weaknesses: Mia can not always keep her temper under control. she also has no concept of tact, which can lead to her making enemies quickly. She also has no concept of privacy or “private property” and can let her curiosity lead her into tricky situations. Her lack of tolerance for people who can’t take a hint has caused her to gain a pretty bitchy reputation, and her total disregard for the feelings of anyone she doesn’t count as a friend doesn’t help.
Fears: getting stranded without her equipment
Secret: Mia’s tried to hack into the Pentagon, for a challenge. She backed out before she got all the way through, but she is sure she could have gotten all the way in and out again. She also wants to travel to outer space. Once laser guns have been invented that is.

History
Mia is the second born child to Yumi and Owen Keystone in Kyoto, Japan as her mother was looking after her own mother. The family moved to Boston, Massachusetts when Mia was just 2, and she lived there for a majority of her life. Mia grew up in a normal household: her father is a respected photojournalist, her mother runs a local health spa and her older brother both protected and annoyed her to no end.
Since childhood, Mia had always been keen to absorb a massive amount of details from picture books, television, even scenery while walking home from school.
Ever since she was small, she had an interest in pretending to be a journalist. She would always be the kind of child to investigate neighborhood news and write up reports on her findings. She grew fond of writing reports, creating files on her neighbors, friends, even her family, but she always wanted to know more. There was only so much you could find out by hiding under the table when her mum had friends over, or googleing names.
She got a laptop when she turned 14 (it had been on her wish list since she was 9) and things changed pretty drastically since then. Her dad’s best camera, which had always been “off limits” was left out one day and Mia jumped at the chance to sneak some photos of the next door neighbors’ living room. She’d overheard the McCoys talking about putting “it” back in the “safe” and naturally, she needed to make sure she had some idea of the layout for when she snuck in later. A few things seemed a bit off though... her dad would never have just left the camera on, but when she picked it up the little green light was already on. Her fingertips buzzed a little, and she got that feeling like when you rub your shoes over the carpet and touch someone to pass a shock on.
Last time she checked, Mia hadn’t known her dad’s camera could do infrared. And even though it was top of the line, there was no way the resolution had been that high. Again, it suited her needs perfectly, but...
She dismissed it, took her photos and quickly put the camera back. When her dad started marveling about the apparent automatic updates and modifications his camera had downloaded. Mia let it slide. Besides, she was too busy figuring out how to edit her report card from inside her school’s database. And while she was there, she may have tried to check the principle's email. And she may have found out a very interesting fact about the so called “wife” of Mr Henders. And she may have been found out. Trying to explain to a very angry school security officer that she had just “figured out” the passwords didn’t really seem to work, and then someone came to check on her computer and a whole other set of problems emerged.
Her computer just worked for her. How was she supposed to explain how one of the cheapest laptops on the market had come to perform as well as a top of the line model. “It just works well with me” hadn’t really cut it. Then Hammel stepped in. But despite the problems her investigations had caused, when Mia arrived at her new school, she uncovered the entire layout of the school, formed a large data file on many of the students on her computer. She was one step closer to the Ultimate Truth, she believed. What exactly this truth was, she couldn’t pinpoint... yet. But it would come. She just needed to get more information...
