[/i]The easy S T U F F . . .Name: Kahlua Shelby Caraway
Nickname: She only answers to Kali (like Kali-fornia)
Age: Twenty four
Member Group: Local
Power(s): Pantomiming! Everyone has seen those sad-faced guys with the white faces and black and white striped shirts. They get trapped in an invisible box and pull on rope. Well, Kali's almost one in the same. If she mimes an object, and with the combination of imagining and believing, then that object is actually there--for her. She wills into reality invisible things that aid her in various tasks and instances. Some of the drawbacks would be that no sentient thing is effected by her pantomiming, she can't hit someone with an imaginary bat and they fall over howling (unless they are just pretending, of course), and no one else can use the things she wills into being either. She could believe and mime there are ladders all across a building wall but not once would anyone be able to climb them.
Her side effects would include confusion, disorientation, and some drastic headaches.
Play By: Hayley Williams (Paramore)Let it F L O W . . ."Smile for the camera!"
"But Maaaaa, I'm still covered in mud!"
You shoulda thought about that before you played in the driveway!"
"But Dad will see this and rant again about how his only daughter is more dirty than his boys and how he failed as a father to spoil his princess!"
"And he did!"
From the age of two to five, Kahlua was the girliest 'Princess' a dad could ask for. If it wasn't drowned in pink, then the little girl couldn't be bothered to touch it. She ran around in a princess Halloween costume until the bottoms were frayed and she was too big for it. She couldn't be brought outside to play unless there was a plate of cookies and one of her brothers acting like her personal servant. It was usually Jack, but Samuel could be wrangled into it if Kali caught him doing something naughty. Even at the ripe age of four, Kali learned the art of exploitation.
However, upon Kali's arrival at Kindergarden, Kali experienced a world that was unlike anything she'd ever been a part of before, and her childish mind was blown, quiet extensively. Her personality and love of all things pink, took an extremely drastic turn, flip, and change to the south, or so her father considered. Kali was a Princess no longer. She was a tomboy. She loved roughhousing, playing hide and seek, playing hotwheels with her brothers Bailey and Johnny, and running around outside doing cartwheels and making mud houses. She wanted her long pony tail cut and she didn't want skirts or dresses any more, she wanted pants and shorts and shirts with no rainbows or strawberries. While her new style of living was easier on her parents pockets, they were a bit sad that their only daughter morphed into 'one of the boys'. However, they loved her all the same, and if she wanted to act and dress the way she wanted, they'd let her.
"Moooooooom! The recruiter's here!"
"Oh my baby's goin' away to Hammel! Just like her father and brothers! I'm so proud of youuuu!"
"It's not like I won a contest or anything, I keep getting stuck in invisible boxes."
"And I am so proud of you for that!"

The Caraway family is known by their neighbors as being loud, eccentric, partiers, and probably the best people to have for neighbors ever. Need a kid to mow your yard? Take one of the Caraway boys for the afternoon! Can't get the dresser down stairs? Jim Caraway'll do it for you, and make you laugh at the same time. Need a babysitter? The lone Caraway daughter will watch cartoons with your baby until you get back, or play make-believe fantasy in the bedroom until they are blue in the face. Need a recipe? Sambuca Caraway, aka Mama C, has more than you can possibly make in your life. Need to party? The entire Caraway clan (plus relatives) will be more than glad to fill up your guest list.
Another, not so well known fact about the Caraway's is that they are all metas, down to the youngest, Bailey. Jim and Sambuca (she went by Sam) met when they were together at Hammel and those two sweethearts couldn't be separated by a crowbar or a threat from either of their parents. Sam came from a family of farmers from the Midwest (the Carver family), who had quite a bit of land (like plus 300 acres). Jim came from a blue-blood family in the South who still lived on the plantation their ancestor made a bazillion dollars off of selling tobacco and cotton. They still farm tobacco and cotton, and corn as well, only they don't own slaves anymore. Sam's family didn't have a history of meta, but Jim's mother and two uncles were all metas. Sam has the gift of precognition and Jim has super strength! Jack, being the oldest of the five of them came into his powers first at thirteen. He accidentally threw a baseball through the scoreboard. His papa was proud he had super strength like himself. Samuel was the next to come into a power, when he was also thirteen. He had a weird power that distorted probability. If Sam wanted to roll a pair of dice and wanted each roll to land snake eyes, then they would land snake eyes, every time. Or if he shuffled a deck of cards and then threw them up in the air, if he wanted the deck to land in a neat stack, arranged numerically and by suit then it would happen. His parents were weirded out by the power just as he was. Then, when Kali finally came of-age, she had problems with walking into invisible things. Once her father mimed that he tossed a ball at her, and she mimed she hit the ball with a bat, and on her follow-through, the back smacked into a window and broke it. Both were stunned by the action and when the letter in the mail arrived that a Hammel Recruiter was en route, they were only too happy. Johnny and Bailey also came into their powers, when the time came and are both attending Hammel, as we speak.
"My Baby! She grew up and graduated Highschool, with enough scholarships to go to college for free! I don't know how that happened, the last time I looked at her, she was five!"
"You must be really old then, dad. I'm kinda almost nineteen."
"Gasp!"
"Quit moving, you two! Kali, hold up your diploma and actually smile with teeth this time!"

Her years at Hammel were delightful, and she made quite the bit of friends, she enjoyed learning the ins and outs of her power and was glad that when she graduated, she could head straight to college. The party girl had her fun, for about a week, until she decided that the in-college life wasn't for her. Partying was fun and all, but when she gets drunk, she has a tendency to mime, and that gets iffy with a room full of drunk not-metas. She'd had her fun and thanks to those few college classes she had taken while she was in school, she graduated with her degree in business after just three years of college.
Now, here she was a bubbly young adult with not a lot of money in her pocket, but with a family with a substantial bank account. So what did she do? She went all googly eyes on her father, so now she 'owns' her own coffee shop/hip and awesome hang out spot in Pilot Ridge (her favorite town in the world). She just loved the Vermont weather and the people there, and it was close to Hammel, so she could keep an eye on her two younger brothers. While she was slowly building up her joint, Jack was about to be recruited into a pro base-ball team and Samuel was flirting with disaster by gambling poker games, craps, roulette wheels, casino machines. He was last heard from in Vegas, but it's been a few months.
"You're kinda cute, can I get your number?"
"Ah that's kinda sweet! I'm married."
"Oh."
"To my job. I haven't got the time for dating! Buuut, there is a band playing tonight, you stop by..."
"Oh, sure, sure. Can I bring a friend?"
"'S'long as the friend isn't a girl~"

Kali wants to do what Kali wants to do, and she does it. Whether that be dating, or her hair color, or what goes on in her haven (So aptly called Kali's Kafe n' Bar.) She lets local bands, and not so local bands play on her stage every Friday, from seven until about one a.m., every other night, the mike is opened for would be comedians, karaoke jesus', though it costs about two bucks a pop because she has gotta make money. There is a bar as well as a cafe section of her place. Try to get a drink under the age of twenty-one and she'll beat you with a jar, or something near and on hand. She uses recipes from her mother to make all the food she sells (mostly breakfast type things, but there is also a grill in the back kitchen come dinner time), there are seats around the front windows and in the bar area as well as to the side of the building where she has turned it into a patio of sorts. Her maximum capacity is two hundred and fifty people, deemed by the fire marshal, but she doesn't necessarily count heads on the busy nights.
She truly loves her world she has built for herself, and she does whatever the hell she wants in it, as well. There isn't a single person who can tell her otherwise, except maybe her father, and the fire marshal, and the health inspector. And maybe Jack, but that's all!

"I'd like to welcome you all to another night of fucking amazing fun. This marks the eighth month anniversary of this place so lets start it off with a bang--Oh and I see you Hammel kids running around, don't think I don't. Order any alcohol and I'll call Sean. Tonight we have five bands lined up, all have at least one song on the radio, right? Right. And here...I have this message from Carlos; Maria, I love you, Happy Birthday!" Kali narrowed her eyes at those few she spotted, two of those were her brothers. Those cocky assholes didn't think she'd do it on them. She certainly wasn't going to lose her license for boozing up minors. She clapped along with the rest of the audience for Maria, whom she saw slapping the guy next to her. That must be Carlos. She then introduced the band that was set up to play first and she jumped off the stage and moved to her place behind the bar, where a line was already forming. She started mixing the drinks, while her cohort and fellow barista flitted about filling drink orders. The kitchen was fired up and running, she could hear the two cooks singing as loud as two fuckers could get and she grinned. This life was hers and it was awesome.[/blockquote]
Her hair this week was colored to that of a phoenix, and it had gotten nothing but praise from her employees and regulars from both the morning and the evening. She loved how it looked, especially when she flipped her hair, it glowed brightly like the fire-bird and it was amazing. She sipped a Coke as she took the cash from the twenty-one and older patrons and those just buying food and she worked fast and efficiently as eight months of learning the ropes started to pay off.
When the last band's song finally ran quiet, the applause through the house was enough to rock the foundation. She was in a completely commercial part of town so they have never once received a noise complaint after hours. She really loved not having to worry about that. And once the last bystander stumbled out of the room (earlier that night her brothers had wandered over to her to hug her good night), Kali ordered her fellow barista home because she was dead on her feet, and helped the two cooks clean up and get ready for the morning. At two o clock, she was ready to stumble home, but instead fell against one of the couches and fell asleep. She'd wake up in the morning with time to get ready before opening.
