The Basics
Name: Elijah James St. John
Nicknames: Eli, EJ
Age: 23
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Hammel Staff: recruiter.
Powers:
Super-Speed; Elijah's body can move faster than normal humans. While he can't run faster than the speed of light, he can easily beat the minute mile in under 20 seconds. So far, his fastest speed has been around 500mph, though he has been unable to reach it since, without causing major damage to himself in the form of severe exaustion and dehydration. It's not pretty. Though he hasn't yet worked out how to take anybody with him, the effects of friction don't seem to have an effect on him, leading him to theorise he has some kind of barrier against it, though he hasn't found a way of proving it yet.
Of course, as his body works at speeds faster than others, his power has several unwanted side effects. For one, Elijah hasn't had a full night's sleep in nearly a decade, without making a forced attempt, he has an inability to concentrate on anything for very long and his metabolism needs large amounts of energy in order to keep going. In addition, fortunately (or unfortunately) for him, another side effect of this power is the fact that things rarely stay in his system for very long. From alcohol to illness, within a few hours it has, usually, passed through. However, if something does take hold (such as a particularly strong drug, or illness) it has a much more poignant effect; his immune system is just not used to such things.

The Details
Hair Color: Brown
Eye Color: Hazel
Any Piercings? No
Any Tattoos?Nope
Any Scars? Several; The most prominent runs from his lower back to his navel (and is the reason Elijah is not often seen without his shirt on) from a car crash when he was small. He also has a small scar in his hairline, from the first time he used his powers...stopping isn't exactly the easiest thing to do when you're going that fast.
General Appearance:
EJ is one of those unfortunate people who looks several years younger than he really is. At 23, he could still pass for a teenager without much effort.
Elijah's heritage has blessed him with skin that will not tan, regardless of the amount of time spent in the sun. If Elijah was the more image orientated type, this fact might bother him; he sees it as another fact of life, albeit an annoying one. Saying that, Elijah doesn't exactly have a milk bottle colour; he has a marginally healthy colour, cutting off just before the ill-looking stages. The colour, however, compliments the light brown tone of his hair quite nicely. Often, Elijah looks excessively windswept, due to a combination of curls, length and his inability to stay still for more than a few seconds. The colour itself is somewhere between brown and blonde, varying with the time of year.
Elijah stands at around average height, with a build that cuts off only a few degrees above dangerously underweight. He tends to wear more clothing than strictly necessary, still retaining a mild dislike of his own body, to the point that he rarely (if ever) is seen with his shirt off...though boxers are often the only thing covering his disproportionately long legs.
His face is fairly round, with hazel coloured eyes that are topped by ever so slightly out of control eyebrows. More often than not, his thin lips are curled into a smile. It is the times when they are not that are the moments in which to worry.
Personality:
Elijah has a tendency to do things on a whim, without thinking about the consequences until it is too late. The truth is, he just sees the world as something that needs to be experienced hands on, not from behind plate glass windows. This has inevitably lead to him having a 'reputation' as a trouble maker. Deep down, Elijah is desperate to please and impress people, which leads to stupid ideas and even stupider consequences.
He would be the first person to say that he far more than his powers, but Elijah is very much at their mercy. So far as he is concerned, his entire life is like being behind a really slow walking person. This means he has to find a lot of things to fill up his time with anything that he can get his hands on; it very rare to see Elijah not doing anything (in fact, that he is still for any extended period of time is one of the few ways of telling that he is ill). Saying that, he can be seen watching the world go by on occasion.
Most people tend to see him as a naive, slightly stupid sort of person. To a degree, that's the truth...though the line between reality and the Elijah he has chosen to present to the world is somewhat blurred. Experience has taught him that setting the bar high and creating expectations will just lead to somebody being disapointed. No, he much prefers to allow people to see the happy, carefree Elijah who notices little and adores everything. The last bit, at least, is true. There are very few people in the world who are invited in to see his more than slightly cynical veiw of the world, though he does allow the occasional remark to escape his mental self censoring.

Strengths:
Elijah is a fairly decent musician and a good writer. Where he most shines, however, is with people. He's definitely a people person, easy to trust and especially good at keeping secrets.
Weaknesses: More often than not, he doesn't know when to stop, which means his motor mouth can get him into trouble a lot.
He also desperately wants to impress people and to get them to like him.
Elijah is possibly the worst liar on the face of the planet. He simply can't do it; the moment it's not the truth, he blushes and becomes tongue tied. A world away from his usual self.
Fears: Stuffed animals freak the living crap out of Elijah, it's the eyes that do it. Also making the list are clowns, zombies, ghosts and dogs. Doctors are also a major fear, to the point that Elijah will fake being well to the point of collapse rather than see one.
Secret: Elijah's most prized possesion is his guitar; it's the one thing in his life he has that ties him to his parents.
He's a lot more mature than he lets on.

History
It would be accurate to assume that Elijah was a strange child. He didn't, for example, think that it was strange that he and his father lived out of the back of a grey ford transit for the majority of his childhood. It didn't even occur to him that most children tended to have two parents, the thought never even passed through his mind.
James St. John had once been a teacher, but once Eli had been born had decided to become a musician, while Kiara had disappeared shortly after Eli's second birthday. Whether it was something connected to her meta-human status, or just fear of the future, the two St. John's never found out. All Elijah knew was that life was purely he and his father and he loved every moment of it. It didn't matter that they rarely stayed in one place for more than a few months at a time, nor that James would often do said leaving in a hurry in the dead of night.
When they finally settled down for good, Elijah was around seven years old. After years of trying, James had finally got a steady job as a pianist in a theatre just outside of Cork. Elijah started school for the first time in his life (he had previously been home schooled by his father) and everything seemed good. Until Elijah returned home one day to find their flat filled with policemen. Over the years, James had been routinely stealing from wherever they happened to be staying, a last desperate attempt to feed his son and eventually his growing alcohol dependence. Both of which he had hidden well from Elijah.
James was arrested and Elijah was taken into the care of the state, who decided that the best thing for him was to be sent to live with family, over in America and cut off all ties to James. A visit in the prison cell, when James gave Elijah his guitar was the last time Elijah ever saw his father. James died in custody when Elijah was 15 and well on his way to controlling his powers.
It seemed to Elijah that while he and his dad had been driving around Ireland, the St. Johns across the water must have been multiplying like rabbits. He certainly saw most of them. Elijah's dad's family were not exactly unfortunate people. They had done well for themselves in America and a slightly too enthusiastic nephew was not what they needed. Elijah was moved from relative to relative, almost returning to the life he'd had with his dad. If he was honest, he didn't mind it all that much. He liked his family, sure, but few of them seemed to want him around and he certainly didn't want to be in anybody's way. Eventually, boarding school was decided upon as 'in his best interests'. In truth, it probably was. For the first time, Eli found that he had friends who he wouldn't be leaving and discovered an unexpected skill in writing.
Elijah remained at the same school until he was 13 years old. Given time off from school, Elijah had decided to explore a disused factory just off the edge of the town. Or at least he had thought it was disused; apparently owners of old buildings don't like it when teenagers break into their property. Naturally, he attempted to run. Attempted being the operative word; at that moment, his powers became apparent. He pulled away from the owner and made to run off in the direction of his school...at a much faster pace than he had intended. He had barely been moving a few seconds before he had covered most of the five mile distance. The shock of his sudden burst of speed knocked him out, not to mention the swift removal of most of his energy reserves. Luckily for him, he was found by the school nurse, who decided he had a case of heatstroke and left it at that. Scared and confused, he attempted to hide it from everybody. It wasn't long, however before he was discovered by the Hammel recuiters.
Once he was there, everything began to make sense. His powers were not difficult to control, though he has not yet found a way to turn them off and doubts he ever will. Once he graduated, Elijah almost immediately applied for the position of a recruiter at Hammel.
Roleplay Example
The past few months had not been all that fantastic, Dominic would be the first to admit. After the gala, in fact right outside it, he found out that the security detail was more skilled than he had given them credit for. His trick for getting Johnny Soldier off, with a sword, had drawn more attention than he had wanted. As in some.
He had only been inside for a few hours when he was broken out. That one, he had been surprised about. He hadn't expected his teammates to break him out, it just wasn't the way they did things. That was probably where he had made his first mistake, showing off as he had done. At the time, though, it had seemed like a good idea. Then there had been all of the bussiness with the explosions...and the President. Dominic shifted uncomfortably. He wasn't happy with the way that one had gone, especially not the results. He couldn't imagine anybody was pleased with those delightful new rules that had urgently been brought in.
He could remember Colette. Or at least sending emails to her. That hadn't gone particularly well, though hadn't been entirely sure what he had expected to achieve in the first place. The woman hated him and he knew that for a fact and for the most part, he couldn't blame her. Not totally though. Yes, he had been the one to convince her to join the Brotherhood and he had thought it was a good idea, at the time, for her to help with the explosives. He hadn't planned on the result, yet she had remained convinced that every part of it had been his fault and for his part...he hadn't exactly tried to make her believe otherwise. It had been easier to cut her off and go.
He could recall demands for something and shouting and...then whatever had happened meant he had turned up on a freezing cold bench (he assumed) in a police cell. It had been a good ten minutes since he had woken up and he had not yet opened his eyes. Something about this place just didn't seem right. No police cell in New York felt like this and so far as he could remember, no cell in London either.
Dominic opened his eyes and took a look at his surroundings. The result was not pleasent.
