Name: Gilleon Therru Simmons
Nicknames: Therru. Oba called her Dottir. No one except teachers call her Gilleon and few people even know it’s her real name.
Age:16
Orientation: unsure
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Hydrokinesis
Control from 1-10: 4
The ability S O F A R. . .
Therru has the ability to manipulate water. So far she has some control over it in being able to move it. She does this with different hand gestures and body movements, like she is making herself part of the water. She can tell where water is and can sense it when it is nearby. Therru can also tell most of the time if water is good to drink or not. She can draw water up from the ground, but only in very small amounts and not form more than a few inches into the ground.
The D R A W B A C K S . . .
While Therru can move and manipulate water it is currently a physically exhausting task that she has to practice often to build up stamina. She can only work for about an hour straight before she has to go rest for a long period of time. If she is using large amounts of power then it may last only a few minutes. Therru needs to drink large amounts of water because she loses it quickly. She frequently suffers from headaches depending on how much she has used her power.
What she/he hopes to A C C O M P L I S H . . .
She wants to gain full control over being able to move water and manipulate it. Therru also wants to learn to try and purify water, not just sense if it is good or bad. She is working on building her stamina and hopes to be able to use her power for long periods of time without becoming too tired or exhausted. She would also like to learn to use it as a weapon, so that when she goes home she doesn’t need to carry a weapon to hunt and do all the other things she does. One of her secret wishes is to learn how to draw air from water so she can explore underwater for long periods of time.

The Details
Hair Color:a sort of reddish brown
Eye Color: green
Any Piercings? yes, just her ears
Any Tattoos?no
Any Scars? yes. Her wrists have scars from when she was little and was learning to shoot a bow. She didn’t wear her wrist guards and has the marks to prove it. Also, her left foot has a thick ropy white line and faded puncture marks from catching her foot in an old bear trap. Other than that she just has little normal scars from silly things.
General Appearance: For the most part she tends to wear tank tops with a flannel thrown on and jeans. She gets a lot of her clothes second hand at the thrift store so they’re almost never brand new. Her colors are browns and golds mixed with green and darker blue jean blues. Occasionally she will wear black, and rarely, if ever, red. She hates shoes, so she wears flip flops and conveniently “forgets” them as often as possible. Her hair is thick and straight, a kind of deep reddish brown color. As often as not her hair is twisted in a messy bun and just sort of left to its own devices. Usually she leaves it however her bed styles it for her really. Okay, so maybe she’ll run a brush through it in the mornings. Really, Therru isn’t that fussy about it. Her eyes are the color of moss and olives. You can see flecks of a kind of bronzy gold hiding in them, making them sparkle.
Her body is long. She has good strong running legs and pretty well worked arms. She’s not super athletic, but she’s not a sloth either. Therru is pretty flat chested but has a lithe stomach and a little bit of hips. She’s pretty, but not insanely gorgeous. For the most part you don’t see her as pretty because she has a blank face and watchful eyes. She’s sort of willowy and can easily go unnoticed, which helps her slip around like a dark ghost. Her hands and fingers are long and her fingernails are usually well kept. Even so, there’s always dirt under them from being outside. Therru has sort of a look about her that says I’m not here and I don’t want to be noticed.
Personality: Therru is a quiet person who prefers not to be the center of attention. Sure, she’ll listen to others tell stories and joke but she keeps her own council. She’s just not a talker. She’s calm with a seemingly even temper and definitely a bit of a loner, liking plants more than people. Therru is quiet in social situations, leaning her head back and listening to what is being said, taking it all in to digest. It would be easier for her to maybe talk to people when she’s not in big groups. In fact, big groups of people scare her. She likes to kind of just watch instead of actively participate She’s not really the leadership type person and would gladly pass it on to someone else if it ever came to her. Therru tends to sort of mumble all her answers. This girl values privacy and quiet above all things except large amounts of open space. Having too many unknown people in too small of a space makes her nervous and panicky, until she feel’s like she’s going to burst open.
One good thing about Therru is that all the things she says are usually very deep and are meant to make people think about their actions and the consequences they have. She seems to be a bit above her age really. She’s an excellent secret keeper, so if you ever tell her something you know it’s never going to leave her lips. Not willfully. She’s not a fighter at all. If you say something she won’t show anything, just let it roll away like rain. If you start a physical fight with her you won’t get anywhere, because she won’t fight back or even say anything. Her amount of restrain is really very impressive. She’s a very creative person, and uses that as an outlet for her emotions. This being said, she doesn’t show anyone her creations because she doesn’t know how people will react.
There is just as much bad about her personality though. She doesn’t really show all her emotions, so they end up bottled up. Just because she doesn’t really show her emotions doesn’t mean they aren’t there. She will rarely talk about her feelings, just let them sit inside and simmer slowly and grow. She seems to not understand there are others there she can talk to, instead listening to everyone else. Therru doesn’t think she needs to burden others with her own problems or fears. She see’s it as impolite and unnecessary.

History
Therru is January baby, born during probably one of the coldest months of the year. Before she was born her parents Roth and Aramiss were together for about twelve years. Ya, a long time to be together before you had a baby. One reason was because they were always busy tending their farm. They lived in some of the deeper reaches of Canada. Only two miles away was a little town called Lightsbridge. It was a good little town of a few hundred people that had everything anyone could ever need to live peacibly. What had started off as a simple trading post somewhere out in the middle of Northern Ontario had turned into a small mining town. It was way out of the way where the people there could live simply. Of course, big cities followed soon, but they were far enough away not to bother anyone. The summers were comfortably warm and the winters could get scarily frigid. The second reason they were leery of having a baby was because Aramiss didn’t really have a body that could handle it. She was strong, but thin and not proportioned well for children. So they waited.
Again, Therru was born duing one of the coldest parts of the year down in the little hospital that Lightbridge had. She was a small baby, and a little sickly. Even so, she grew quickly. While Therru grew stronger though, Aramiss grew weaker. She had caugh some kind of lung infection and mucusy coughs racked her body. For a while it seemed she might get better, but then she came down with a blazing fever. She fought hard, but in the end fell into a peaceful dream filled sleep she never woke up from. She never got to see her daughter turn a year old. Roth was heartbroken when he lost his wife. That year his field lay unattended for the most part as he made taking care of his little daughter his main priority. He had to make sure she lived, or he would have nothing left.
That year seemed to go by quickly and little Therru grew into a not so little Therru. Once spring came he went back to farming, trying to share his time equally between care of his land and his precious daughter. One of the older women in the village often would babysit Therru. Most people knew her as Oba, and lots of people came to her for advice. So time passed quickly.
Even early on Roth imparted wisdom and sayings to Therru so she would be as smart a girl as she could be. And it worked. As Therru grew up she latched onto her fathers every word and bit of wisdom so that she could live easier in the land around them. He taught her about hunting and fishing. He taught her about plants and planting, and which plants were good for medicine. Often times Roth took little Therru out on hiking trips to show her all manner of things. Above all he instilled in her a patience with nature. It had its own ways and wouldn’t move to anyone else’s time.
As she got a little older it became her job to help with the farm animals. At seven she had already decided her favorites. They had two horses and a few cows, as well as pigs and chickens. The young girl loved the silly chickens and the soft, patient horses, while she disliked the noise cows and icky piggies. Never the less she did her barnyard jobs. She also realized how much she liked making things and fixing things that were broken. She would help her father repair different objects around the barnyard such as gates and doors, and even helped her father fix the old windmill old. This gave her the idea that she should make little inventions and try to get them to work. She made a windup car at one point and her biggest dream was to make a glider that would work so she could glide around her home in the sky. Her father thought it was a great idea and told her to do whatever her heart told her.
When she was eight her father started to teach her to hunt with a bow. It was hard at first, but gradually with practice she became pretty good. The quiet girl was shaping into a good woodsman. She could shoot quite a few things if she really tried. She was also smart. Therru didn’t go to the school in town. Instead her father homeschooled her. Roth thought it better to homeschool his daughter. Not only so he could spend as much time with her as possible, but to keep to the traditions of their family. They had owned that piece of land for generations and worked with it. Many of the people in her family she rarely saw were hunter and trappers who lived off the land. Roth wanted Therru to grow up with the same appreciation they had. He was afraid that if she went to a public school she wouldn’t learn any of these things and wouldn’t be able to take over the farm when she was older.
While he taught her all the recommended subjects and followed the guidelines given to him by the state for homeschooling he also went above and beyond. Without realizing it he went a little too fast. She was usually a grade ahead of where she needed to be. She voraciously devoured books and was interested in learning about everything she could. Her favorite things to learn about of course were the plants around her and the sky and weather, but she also enjoyed learning about Norse and Egyptian cultures. Also, and interest in books about inventions rapidly developed into a sort of secret passion.
Once she turned nine Roth turned his attention to really teaching her how to live on by herself if needed. During the winters when there was no farming her father taught her about herbs and medicines, and how to skin animals and useful things for woodsman. She learned quite a bit, and more as she read. She practiced her archery on warm days in the courtyard kind of area when she could, and learned to make snares to catch little critters. She also learned how much she really enjoyed poetry and realized she knew quite a bit about classic literature. More than most nine year olds would know thanks to her dad. The girls favorite books were Little House on the Prairie, Julie of the Wolves, and Island of the Blue Dolphins. She also discovered how much she didn’t like cities and pop music. Her father took them to big city a good half a days drive away in their rusty truck that they didn’t really use. The city was too big for her, with too many people and too much of…well…everything.
The next few years were filled with the same routine. Work, learn, play and enjoy life as close to nature as possible. When Therru was 13 her father came down with a really bad case of pneumonia. He was in the hospital for a longwhile before he recovered. It was there Therru discovered her powersShe was playing with water in his room, making it splash around in fun shapes to amuse her self. She and her father were out for a while since he was feeling good enough to go out when a few strangers showed up in town. It was a big deal because there weren’t too many people who came to Lightsbridge. And they were looking for something, or more correctly, someone. Oba knew right away, and weirdly enough so did her father. The recruiters for Hammel explained she had a meta-human power and that she needed to come with them to receive training. The whole community encouraged her to go. She didn so with a heavy heart. She didn’t want to go anywhere where she couldn’t see her father ever second of the day. He wanted her to go, expected her to, so she couldn’t let him down.
At first it was a shocking and scary change for the small town girl to go to the school. There were so many people and it was such a different way of life. She switched classes often because she was ahead and had a hard time making friends in her own age group. Most people shunned her kind of weird mountain ways. She couldn’t have been at Hammel for more than a year when she received news that the pneumonia her father had had gotten so bad it had killed him, as well as several others in the town. She cried for days and days and days, and after that was very somber and quiet. The funeral took her away from school for about three weeks. When she came back it wasn’t so much of a shock, but still hard for her to adjust. For the longest time she was silent, blaming the entire place for the death of her father, especially the recruiter who had brought her here in the first place. She didn’t want to be here. Her power suffered because of that. She didn’t want to learn to control it, and so she just let it do whatever while she raced ahead in her academic work.
Two years have passed since then, and while she’s better adjusted to the city life she still harbors the guilt and anger of her fathers death. She has been dealing with it pretty well by starting to use her power again. She’s even becoming more calm, bright, and smiley. She’s still ahead with her school work, but very far behind with her power. Sometimes she has occasional bouts of depressive attitudes where she might just disappear for a day or so to who knows where.

Roleplay Example
Rain drummed steadily across the lake and lightning flashed overhead. Anyone with sense was inside waiting for the short rainstorm to pass over. Anyone with sense mind you. It was a Saturday afternoon, and Pilot Ridge seemed pretty deserted. It was just sort of empty and dead. There was one person outside, sitting by the lake. There was a little dipping hollow she had found and seated herself in, listening to the drops brush ascross the land as it received the much needed nourishment. Everything green was going to be springing up again soon, coming back to life from the slight dry spell they’d been having. She didn’t mind. Being outside was good day, night, rain or not. Her jeans and flannel were soaked to the bone under her jacket. That and she was shivering like crazy. Even so, she held herself still as she gazed at the rippling water. A chain was held in her fingers, blue green crystal pendant.
I miss them so much Therru thought. Oba had taught her all she knew about storms, about how to know if they would be short or long. She had thought this would be short, but it had been at least half an hour so far and the rain wasn’t letting up. The girl had walked from the school at Hammel to town, something that was a little over a mile. Lightsbridge had only been two or so miles from their house and had walked that often enough. Stop she commanded and shook herself. She had been doing so well lately, with school and working with her powers. Oba and her father would have been so proud of her for using her gift. Even so, all the girl in the world couldn’t heal her broken heart.
The sopping wet girl collected herself with a sigh decided to walk back to the school. Sure she might get yelled at for now having a permission paper, but there were dry clothes and tea there. That’s what she needed. Warm teach with honey. She smiled as she thought of it, lifting the curtain of her somnolent mood slightly. Moving ahead was what she needed to do. Move forward and maybe someday forgive. Then the poison ball of anger deep inside could uncurl and stop killing her slowly. Maybe she could forgive herself then for not seeing how horrible people were. Maybe she could forgive herself for not being with her father when he was sick. The thought stopped her in her tracks as she thought about it. She still blamed those recruiters for being here
When was enough enough, and when was it time to let go? not now. Not yet. Bitterness swept through her. She took a breath in and shoved the emotion in a corner of her mind where she would never see it again, left with all the other dark emotions. They were like a plague, slowly rotting her heart away. Therru just didn’t know how to deal with all that emotion, with people. She shook her head and resumed walking, blending into the trees to look for the path that would take her back to the school. .
