Retreat Dance!

[Mia Bell]

Unfortunately loving two people at the same time wasn’t something that was connecting in Mia’s mind. You would think it would considering she was utterly in love with Johnny Deep but she knew that was never happening which meant she was going to have to find someone more realistic and she might have already found that person. How she didn’t connect the two situations was a mystery to everyone.

“Oh see that’s good to know.” She laughed a little with him. She needed to start relaxing, it was just Cameron. Mia had destroyed her own security by the things she had done but no one around her had helped either. She tilted her head to the side “because I didn’t think you would have been interested? You can still sign up to join…” Of course she liked him, she just didn’t think he would be interested. But now that she knew who was in it she realized they were like three girls in the club (not including herself) so maybe he would be interested. That was not something she wanted to think about now actually; it would be really awkward for her to watch him flirt with other girls.

Great now that was coming back to spite her; did he really have to have such a good memory? “Uh… Yeah. But now I’m kind of thinking about dating again..” She was still looking down, she didn’t want to look at Cameron. “I’m tired of letting my past haunt me.” She needed to let go of things and she found the only way to do that was to go about her life like it hadn’t had happened though still be cautions of things. But she knew her past wasn't the only thing that played apart in her not wanting to date. It had a lot to do with her insecurities and fears but she needed to let that go too.

Sure friends could slow dance, she didn’t mind slow dancing with a friend. Now a friend that she was crushing on was a completely different story.

[Cameron Osiris]

Cameron raised an eyebrow at her. Really, most people had the wrong impression of him. Yes he was a total jerk wad most of the time, but he still cared about a lot of things. Oh well, maybe it was best people thought he was a crazy teenager. He scratched the back of his neck and shrugged. “Maybe I just wanted to spend more time with you.” Yes, that was definitely the safer thing to say.

“You are?” He asked, obviously curious. What had happened to make her change her mind? Huh. “Is it ‘cause you lost your journal?” He asked, wondering if that was the reason. He smiled at her. Seriously, it was good for her to let the past, be the past. “That’s really good Mia,” he said, giving her a brief spin to the music before drawing her back in again. Really, he did want her to be happy. Just like he wanted Ravyn to be happy.

“Want something to drink?” He asked, before going for the refreshments. He could really use a cup of water right now.

Mia blushed a little; now she kind of felt bad. “If you still want to spend more time with me you can still join. I would like to spend more time with you.” She really did want to spend more time with him; get to know him more. But at the same time she wondered if that was the right thing to do.


She shrugged a little “I don’t know maybe… I have to start fresh right?” She gave him a sheepish smile. Now she really did think he wasn’t interested in her, because if he was, wouldn’t he have asked her out or something? She grinned as Cameron gave her a brief spin. And Mia just wanted Cameron to be happy; but at the same time he wanted him to be happy with her.

Mia nodded “sure.” She hung back a bit, watching him walk over to the refreshment table. She sighed deeply; she couldn’t keep doing this to herself. She couldn’t keep having feelings for someone who didn’t feel the same about her. She wondered why life had to be so hard. Mia sighed once more and then followed Cameron.

He smiled pleasantly at her. “What sorts of things did you talk about at the meeting?” He asked. Why did Mia seem so disheartened? Had he done something wrong?

“Starting fresh, like a brand new day,” he said with a nod. It made sense. He didn’t know much about her past, or about some of her bad habits, but he did know she was a great person. She had a beautiful soul, and it showed in her music. They wrote awesome songs together and she was fun to be around. Maybe if he spent just a bit more time with her, all the rest would blossom.

“I think we should go out,” he said, watching her for a reaction, “like, out out, on a date.” He had two cups of water and handed one to her. “You know, since you’re on the market now,” he smirked at her, before taking a swig. Would she take up his offer?

Mia had to think about it for a second, the club had, had only one meeting so far, it had been quite a strange one. “Uh, we mostly just got to know each other? And talked about why we joined the club personally.. I guess we really didn’t talk much we mostly just made posters…”

Cameron did nothing wrong, it was just her. It was always just her. Mia nodded “yeah.” She really hoped he never found out about her bad habits anytime soon; baby steps right? She didn’t think there was anything that interesting about her past; well other than the few things that someone would have possibly wanted to know. But she didn’t think her past was anyone’s business except when it came to a few people. Mia knew little about Cameron just like he knew little about her. She didn’t even know his last name not to mention where he was from. At least Cam had that, he knew where she was from.


Mia looked at him, shocked a bit that he had asked. So she was wrong? Or was he just taking advantage of the whole situation? Either way she smiled and blushed a little “You want to go on a date?... With me?” She needed to stop seeing the negative side to situations. She bit her bottom lip “I would like to go out with you…” She took the cup from Cameron, taking a sip as she started blushing a little more. She looked at her feet; she was starting to feel better about her life. Maybe it did actually get better. Half of her knew she was making the right choice about saying yes, but the other half still felt insecure about the whole thing

“Made posters for what?” He asked, amused. They had a club where they got together and talked, but not actually about what the club was? Interesting, maybe he’d fit right in after all.

Cam was pretty well an open book, she just had to ask. Besides the whole, falling in love rather quickly thing. There wasn’t a lot he couldn’t say no to. Other than drugs and forcing people to do things they didn’t want to do. He wasn’t into that sort of business.

Of course he was taking advantage of the situation. She was single, he was single, it was a win-win. “Yeah, I always have, but you banned me so...” He shrugged. There were no negatives, it would basically be the same as hanging out, with the knowledge that they liked each other a little more than friends. Nothing could possibly be bad at this. “Where better to ask you than a dance?” He added, just to sweeten the already sugary Cam-Pot.

“Yes!” He said, pulling her into another hug. Usually guys waited for the other person to leave before being excited, but hey, he didn’t want to break any lights by waiting. “Let’s start with that hike tomorrow,” he said, looking down at her, not realizing he had spilled water all over the floor by hugging her.

Mia sighed “Just join the club and you can see for yourself. If you don’t like it you can just stop coming… I’m not really sure how to explain the poster thing.. Other than it was really hard to do with one hand..”

Mia was not as open, but if he asked she wouldn’t lie to him about anything. If it was about her family she might start crying though. Mia didn’t like drugs to begin with, things that slowly killed you she just wasn’t a fan of or anything unhealthy; with an exception to her bad habit. There wasn’t that much to know about her personally, nothing light hearted anyway.

The only problem with the ‘just dating’ is that she had found out the hard way that she couldn’t just date someone. She would find herself getting attached and she was already attached to Cameron. “I.. eh… Sorry…” No she didn’t feel bad about it, yeah it had been the harder way but she found that everything that had happened was the reason why they were so close. She didn’t think she would have been as close to Cam if they had just dated when they first met. “On the beach of the Arctic Ocean…” She had always dreamed of someone asking her out or confessing his or her love for her on the beach of the Arctic Ocean; it hasn't happened though.

Mia blushed more as he hugged her, she hugged back carefully; not wanting to spill her water like he had. “Alright, it’s a date.” She giggled a little. Dating, it was a start; she had to keep reminding herself to take baby steps.

Cam raised an eyebrow at her. On the beach of the Arctic Ocean? He smiled softly, “I didn’t think you were such a romantic,” he commented. He wasn’t really that romantic. He didn’t really put a lot of thought into things. He just went with the flow and saw what happened from there. But to him, a date was a date. If it became anything more exclusive, he respected that. The whole beach thing seemed more like a proposal idea though...

Moving to take another sip, but finding the cup empty, he set it down and took her hand again. “Want to keep dancing?” he asked, gesturing to the floor. Now he was excited, he could probably stay until the very end. Mia just had that effect on him.

Mia chuckled “Not a lot of people do. But hey it’s just a dream…”It really was just a dream; she knew it would never happen. She knew a lot of her dreams would never happen. But she still held on to them; they were all she had. She knew the reality was very different from her dreams. Reality was much harsher; it was something she still hasn’t come to accept yet though. She was still holding on to the perfect world inside her head, wishing that one day it would come true and her dream would become reality. But she knew that was just false hope.

She placed her cup next to Cameron’s as he asked if she wanted to keep dancing. She nodded “Yes!” She followed him to the dance floor yet again. She knew that this might end up with her getting hurt all over again. But she needed to learn to live in the moment and just enjoy things as they came around. She also needed to learn to accept things, and to learn that getting hurt was part of life. She had a lot to learn, and she didn't feel like there was enough time in the world.

Arm crisis averted! With enough time, her joint allowed the reconnection, paining as it may have been. She'd stopped briefly to stretch it out. It wouldn't be any serious damage. It was just annoying...

Oh, right!

Callie couldn't help but notice what was going on. If she didn't realise, she'd likely be as dumb as a box of hammers. Cam and Mia had disappeared briefly (she thought), but now they were coming back again. Oh well. She was not one to step in the middle of these kind of situations, unless she had good intentions. Crossing the line of the dance floor, Callie stopped behind Cameron, pressing both hands to his shoulders and leaning in.

"Do yourself a favour," She began, with a broad smile on her face. Not that he'd see it, as she was whispering into his ear. "Don't pass out on her, Cammie-Cam~!" She tilted her head back in her own laughter, patting his shoulders twice before reaching over and ruffling his hair. She had no real issue with the thought of Cam dating people. That night, he'd seemed to like Callie and she seemed to like him back. If whatever they were was called dating, she still had no real claim over him when it came to other girls like Mia.

At any rate, she'd danced a lot! It was definitely time to grab something to drink.

[Ravyn Rozanova]

Ravyn muttered a few curses to herself, mad that she was late to the dance. She'd gotten so distracted by the local scenery and wildlife, she hadn't gotten back to get ready until just a short time before it started. Now she found herself standing awkwardly on the sidelines, unsure of where to go or who to talk to. She had even dressed up for the occasion, not usually one to go to a lot of effort to make herself look overly formal. Nevertheless, her hair had been curled and pulled halfway back with a gold ribbon, she had found a simple green dress with an open back to allow her wings to move freely, and had even donned a pair of ridiculously high heels that she was sure she would end up taking off in the very near future.

But now, who to approach? She caught sight of Callie, a girl she knew from some classes and through mutual friends, but she didn't know her well enough to strike up a conversation. She was owning the dance floor anyway, and Ravyn didn't want to interrupt. Ravyn watched the girl dance for a while, smiling faintly to herself until she left to get refreshments. When she let her gaze travel over the dancers a bit more, her heart sunk a little when she caught sight of Cameron and Mia. Looking very couple-y. Of course, Ravyn was trying to get over that part of her past, but it still hurt a little to see that Mia had lied to her about being interested in him. There was no way she was going to talk to them, unless they approached her first.

What to do, what to do. She crossed her arms over her chest and tapped her foot along to the beat of the music, wishing more than anything that someone would whisk her away.

[Noah Washington]

Noah at least knew that Ravyn was probably going to go to this thing. He figured that if she was going to be there, he might as tell go and hang out with her. He might see some of his other friends too, but primarily he just wanted to go because they had so much fun at work dancing. They might as well see how they go at an actual dance.

He hadn't brought anything really good to wear; not like she had. But he at least wanted to ensure that he looked good. After all, who knew who he might see or meet at this thing.

When Noah finally saw Ravyn she looked a little... Almost sad. Oh well, he knew how to at least try and cheer her up! Being mindful of her wings, Noah ran up and swung his arm across her shoulders, pulling her into a surprise side-hug. "Hey!" He called out, turning his blue eyes to see where she was looking. Oh, it was that guy. And that girl Mia he met.

Huh.

"Like the song?" He asked instead, realising she was tapping her foot. Noah made sure to keep his arm around her; if they looked over he didn't want them to see her sad or anything like that. He made sure to give her a playful grin for good measure.

[Ravyn Rozanova]

Ravyn was actually considering leaving to just go on another walk - nobody there had came to talk to her (which she didn't really blame them, she was late and nearly everyone had already found someone else to dance with), and she didn't have the nerve to approach a stranger. She was just turning when she felt an arm wrap around her shoulder, and she let out an involuntary squeak as she was pulled into a side hug. Turning her head, she caught sight of familiar blonde locks, and a wide grin crossed her face. Just who she needed. "Noah!" she greeted him, turning to pull him into a full hug. She took a deep breath against his shoulder, catching a whiff of his cologne. "You smell good," she commented before she could think not to. Blushing, she pulled away. "I'm so glad you're here. I was just..." Her gaze drifted back to the dancing couple. "I was just thinking about leaving."

She hadn't even realized her foot was tapping, but now that he asked her opinion on the music, she tried to pay more attention to what was actually playing. The song was just ending, and now... No, way. "Who DOESN'T like Call Me Maybe?" she grinned back, knowing how often they danced to this song at work. They would own this dance floor with their dorky moves and awkward dancing.

[Noah Washington]

Noah was pretty quick to reciprocate that full on hug when she went for it. From what he had seen, she looked like she could use it. That and a friendly face, which he was more than willing to provide. When she pulled away he watched her look in Cam and Mia's direction again. "Don't leave yet. You look great! Probably the best out of everyone who's here." He said. "Myself included."

The song faded out and was quickly replaced. On the plus side, that slow dancing couple they had half been watching now couldn't exactly slow dance. Just feel that beat!

"It's the anthem of our generation." He laughed. They were professionals at this song. Noah pulled his arm away from her shoulders, sliding his hand down her arm and taking hold of her hand. By the time they'd managed to push past a few people they were already closing in on the first chorus, so he had to make it count.

Stealing the show? He really didn't mean for that to happen. But he was going to sing out as loudly and as best he could!

He spun on a heel and turned to face her, raising his hand to his face and extending two fingers to his eyes. "Your stare was holdin'," And he pointed them directly at her, making sure he was looking right at her eyes. "Ripped jeans, skin was showin'" He sang out, pointing down to either of his knees. His jeans had rips on either spot. "Hot night, wind was blowin'" And he brought both hands up to his face again, fanning himself off.

"Where you think you're going, baby?" With that he closed the distance between them again. "Hey, I just met you, and this is crazy," Noah reached over and took hold of her hand, giving her a solid handshake. His free hand pulled out an imaginary pen from his back pocket and he shook it a few times. "But here's my number, So call me, maybe?" Holding her palm out, he pretended to write on it. But his imaginary pen didn't work!

Feigning his best pout, he took a step back and covered his eyes with both hands. "It's hard to look right at you baby," And he reached out towards her again, taking hold of her hand with his own and moving to spin her under his arm; again being mindful of her wings. "But here's my number, so call me maybe?"

Leave it to Noah to make her feel a thousand times better. "Oh gosh, I don't know about that," she laughed, dropping her hands down to her hips. "You look pretty fine yourself. But you're sweet. Thank you." Grinning cheekily, she turned her back towards where Mia and Cam were dancing; she was determined to have fun now that her friend was here.

She continued to laugh as Noah took her hand and pulled her towards the middle of the dancing, careful not to hit anyone with her feathered appendages. "Talk about good timing!" she called over the song and the voices of people around them. "If you had been any later, we would have missed this!"

And then they began dancing. Ravyn had a few moves up her sleeve, but Noah really did the majority of the work. Keeping a straight face, she fanned her face as he pointed his fingers at her eyes, before covering her mouth and 'gawking' at his holey jeans. At the 'hot night' part, she opened her wings a tad, giving them a little flap and creating a small gust of wind that sent her hair flying around her face.

"Where you think you're going, baby?" At that part, she chimed into the singing, eagerly helping to close the distance between them as he reached for her hand once more. Continuing to sing, she shook his hand, and pretended to be upset when his 'pen' didn't work. She 'reached' into her own pocket to produce her own, handing it to him for him to use. But at that point he stepped back and covered his eyes, so she clutched her hands against her chest and pretended to let out a huge sigh. And then he was back, and she was spinning, trying desperately not to fall over in her ridiculous heels. This time, her wings stayed firmly tucked against her back, lest what had happened on break that one time happen again, only with a person rather than a glass.

"Hey I just met you," now it was her turn,"and this is crazy!" This time she grabbed her 'pen' and his hand, and proceeded to scribble her number. "But here's my number! So call me, maybe?" She made a phone with her hand and held it against her ear, giving him a questioning look. "And all the other boys, try to chase me," Pointing her finger over her shoulder, she made a face (and secretly hoped she was pointing at someone in particular...). "But here's my number, so call me maybe?" She finished by doing another spin, ending up against Noah with her hands gripping his. The song continued and she finally burst into laughter, unable to keep a straight face anymore. Glancing around, she noticed a few people watching them, and dropped her hands down to her hips once more. No need to start more rumors. But at least that had been entertaining! "We totally own this place now," she told him, grinning from ear to ear. "Want to get something to drink?" It was warm out, and she already felt herself sweating a little. Not to mention, she needed to take off her stupid shoes.
