Mia laughed with him “Maybe? Try way smarter!” As for the awesome part, she just wasn’t going to go there. She knew Cameron was confident in himself; something she was not. So what was the point in fighting something she didn’t even truly believe herself? She smiled “Oh I will. I’m there a lot so..” She shrugged, if you ever wanted to find her, the Quarter note was the first place you should look. But now she was just excited for this to happen, she really wanted to hear his song.

Mia pointed at his cheek “I made you blush.” She hadn’t even teased him, just pointing out the obvious. She found that a little interesting, but it made her smile. Blame everything one her, she couldn’t help it if she was too attractive for him; she wasn’t even trying. Mia laughed “aw come on; let me pinch your cheeks at least once. They look so pinchable.” Yeah she was teasing him now. She grinned when he started making the pouty face “so cute.” She mumbled.

Mia was glad the sun wasn’t out, because if it was she would be dying from the heat. She looked at the sky while she thought of an answer for him “That’s a really good question… Hmm hypothetically speaking? Well picnic, on the beach, at sunset.” Yeah the ultimate date in Mia’s eyes, probably more romantic speaking than he wanted but he asked. “Though, dinner is good too. Considering you said you would cook dinner for me and I’m still holding you to that.” She pointed at him, she really wanted to know what was so great about his cooking. Really it was easy making her happy, she didn’t get bored easily and the smallest things made her happy. No one needed to spend a bunch of money on this girl, sitting in her room having movie night or playing board games would make her happy. Nothing special needed to happen.

"Well if you want to be a psychologist, you'll have to be smart," he said with a shrug. He didn't think he was that smart, but he wasn't too concerned over that right now.

And that was perhaps the most attractive part - she wasn't trying, she just... was. "So?" He asked, trying to brush it off. He wouldn't be teased about this. And then Cameron smirked. "I'm not cute, but I'm glad you think so." Hey, anything to get into her good books.

"Picnic on the beach at sunset," he said, trying to make a mental note. Well good, at least now he had a few good ideas for their next date because yes, there would be a next date. There had to be. Cam laughed. "And I will cook for you. Damn it woman, we're camping right now!" He just adored her, really he did. She held him accountable and was making him grow. "So you don't like my spontaneous dates?" He asked, looking back at the sky. He had to stay distracted.

“Eh right…” Mia hadn’t thought he was going to say something serious about it. She figured he would have said he was smarter or something less serious. “If you want to go to college in general you have to be smart…” Mia knew she was smart, smarter than average really; but she didn’t care about that because it didn’t lead her anywhere other than being able to go to college. It didn’t fix how fragile, or broken she was.

Mia didn’t think she was attractive and she was pretty sure Cameron would be disgusted if he saw what was underneath the clothing. But that was a different matter. Mia frowned at the way he handled that; she felt Cameron had become more serious in general. “Is something wrong?” Nothing was wrong with him being serious, she was prone to mood swings also but if he had gotten serious because of something she had done that he didn’t like she wanted to know. “You won’t admit you’re cute but you’ll admit that you’re handsome?” what was the difference?

“Yeah, I’ve always wanted to go on a picnic..” The place she was from and picnics just didn’t go together, the food would freeze and eventually so would you. Mia looked at him a little shocked by his response. She hugged her knees to her chest “Sorry… I didn’t mean now or this week…” She bit her bottom lip “You don’t have to cook for me either, if you don’t want to.” She didn’t feel like she was holding him accountable, more like just being a burden. She tilted her head to the side “I never said that..” How did he get that from asking her what she would like to do on a date? He asked she answered, was she supposed to say ‘anything’ or ‘I don’t care’? And he thinks women were complicated.

“Not really, you just have to do what the teachers say,” he said with a shrug. He wasn’t too concerned over that right now. He was interested in getting to know her.

How did she know what Cam would think? Weather manipulation had nothing to do with mindreading. Cameron laughed nervously, unsure of where this was going. Mia was the only person he had had deep conversations with, other than Chester. This wasn’t his norm. “Nothing’s wrong, I’m just thinking.” He smirked at her. “Am I not allowed to do that?” He was teasing her now, as was evident in his light tone. “Being cute and being handsome are totally different things,” he looked her over, “it’s like being called pretty and being beautiful. Cute just sounds like something you call babies, or pet snakes.”

“What? You’ve never been on a picnic before?” Cam asked, before smacking his forehead. “Right, tundra,” he said, shaking his head. Sometimes he was such a scatterbrain. “I just wanted to know,” he explained, deciding he was done walking on eggshells, “I mean, I could totally plan something.” Cameron already was, sometimes he just needed a bit of extra time. He was just trying to cater to her.

“You make everything sound so easy.” She knew it wasn’t going to be that easy, she had to have good grades to get a scholarship to pay for college, she didn’t want to get a loan because that would mean burdening her mother even more and she just couldn’t do that. Not to mention she was pretty sure college was harder than high school.

No, her powers had nothing to do with reading minds but she knew from experience. Everyone thought the scars from her suicide attempt were disgusting and openly told her so; her self-harm issue was worse, so it was only logical in Mia’s mind that everyone would think she was disgusting. It didn’t matter anyways, he would never get past the clothing and she would never tell him about it, unless their relationship got more serious. She smiled and shook her head slightly “No, you are allowed to think.” She wondered what he was thinking about, what was inside his head and if she was the only person on his mind right now. Mia tilted her head, “they’re both compliments either way…” Mia laughed at his last comparison “Alright, so cute isn’t the right adjective then. So what is?” She was oblivious to where he was going with the first part.

Mia raised her eyebrows “Yeah tundra. Cold, great for cuddling not so great for picnics…” Ah how she couldn’t wait for winter to come around, her favorite season. “I wouldn’t mind you planning something, it doesn’t matter to me what we do as long as I’m with you.” Sappy yes, but true. “You know, as long as we don’t make getting into heated arguments a regular thing..” She really hoped that wouldn’t be the case.

Mia rubbed the side of her neck as she did so a little light went off inside her mind. “Oh!” she had remembered something she kept forgetting about. “I made you something…” Might as well give it to him now; she couldn’t think of a better situation to give it to him, not that she was looking for one. She rummaged through her page feeling around trying to find the item she had made for the blonde “If I brought it with me..” She bit her bottom lip; thankful for the glow that Cameron was making, it made her wonder if his glow was just to see better or if it had anything to do with how he was feeling. Mia soon found it “Ah! Here it is.” She pulled out a necklace and held it out for him to take. She had made it herself, a night when she just couldn’t sleep. It was a ball chain necklace, big enough for Cameron to slip over his head, at least it was big enough to slip over her head and with her hair it had to be big. It had plain black ribbon twirled around the chain the ribbon being tied off, with a red guitar pick as the pendent. She had gotten the pick at her Uncle’s store and had just punctured a hole at the top. The guitar pick had a black ‘x’ on it, that she was painted on it with nail polish. She really hoped he liked it.

“Everything is easy if you just sit back and look at it.” Maybe it wasn’t very realistic, but he didn’t like stressing over things that usually just ended up falling into place anyways. Life didn’t need to be controlled or in order to have a good one.

People were more understand than Mia gave them credit for. And if Cam could see the scars, he could also see beyond them. He didn’t care about them, he cared about her. He was pretty oblivious about his previous statement also. “I’m good with handsome,” he said, “or dashing.” Chester had used that expression once or twice.

Cameron grinned and pointed at her, “But still, great for cuddling.” Did people cuddle outside in the tundra? What a riddle. Cam shrugged. “We both have opinions, so what if there’s heated arguments?” They were hard yes, but they were a part of getting to know someone. “But I do like the lighter side of things,” he teased, sending a smile her way. He could do sappy.

Looking over her should as she searched for it, Cam didn’t bother hiding his excitement. Taking the necklace, Cameron made the light shine a little brighter so he could see the details of it. “Wait, you made this?” He asked, slipping it on over his head with a proud smile. “It’s awesome. I can just wear this and never forget bringing a guitar pick again! Stylish and functional.” He nodded a couple times, still playing with the pick between his fingers. “Thank you,” he said, leaning towards her to place a kiss on her cheek. It was the little things that mattered most.

Mia didn’t get how someone could look at life so calmly like the future didn’t matter. Or maybe it was just easier for him to; but Mia couldn’t do that. She just nodded along with what he said; she really didn’t have anything to say.

Maybe they were and maybe they weren’t, but Mia didn’t know if she could take that risk, not know not so soon; she had just gotten out of that mess she didn’t want to be forced back into it. There wasn’t a moment where she didn’t hate herself for what she was doing to herself; she knew how messed up it was but at the same time she didn’t know how to stop. “I’ll try to remember that.” She smiled; she made a mental note to only call him cute when she wanted to mess with him.

Mia nodded “Yep..” Had she just hinted at something without realizing it? Mia didn’t think people cuddled outside but knew they did inside. It would be hard to cuddle outside with the huge jackets you had to wear to keep yourself warm so you didn’t freeze to death. Mia raised an eyebrow his statement proved interesting, she knew he liked to keep things light; so why be so blunt as to be fine with arguments? “I guess you have a point.” But just because they had different opinions didn’t mean she wanted to have heated arguments on every date. “I know you do.” She said with a smile; it really wasn’t that hard to tell he was light-hearted.

Mia’s eyes light up when she saw Cameron’s reaction to the necklace; she was really glad he liked it. “Yes I made it. I have been starting to make them. I guess it’s something I’ve gotten into doing when I’m bored.” She chuckled a bit “See that’s one thing about playing piano or singing, you don’t have to worry about forgetting anything.” Mia let him kiss her cheek; grateful that he hadn’t actually tried to kiss her because the ending to that would have been awkward; because she wouldn't have let him.”I’m glad you like it.” She looked at the sky “I think we should be getting back to the cabins? Don’t want to be late for curfew…”

It wasn’t that the future didn’t matter, it just wasn’t worth worrying over. Worrying didn’t make things clearer, didn’t help things get solved, and it really didn’t help someone enjoying the moments they did have.

Cameron smiled at her. “And I’ll try to remember how beautiful you are,” he commented, even though that would be really hard to forget. She just was, and it was right in front of him.

He had decided a long time ago to deal with things as necessary.

“Well it’s really nice,” he said, grinning. Cam was about to say she should sell them at her uncle’s shop or something, but maybe that would take away from the true value of the item. It was something she personally made for him, and he wasn’t about to ruin that by marketing it. “Piano’s aren’t very portable though,” he said, smirking. “Right,” he said, standing up and extending his hand to her.

Taking a few steps toward camp, he reached for her hand. “We’ll always be friends you know,” he said, because he thought she would need the reassurance. Yes they’d had a hard talk, but that didn’t mean he was done trying to get to know her.

Cameron was right, it wasn’t worth worry over but Mia still worried; she worried about a lot of things. That was something she needed to work on, being at least friends with Cam helped with that in a way.

Mia blushed and looked at the ground. “Deal.” It made her wonder if it was easy to forget she was beautiful. For her it was, but that was her everyone had their insecurities she knew she wasn’t the only one.

Mia smiled “Glad you think so.” It had taken her awhile to make, but not as long as it took Willow’s or Noah’s but still took a long time; those were the only three people she had made necklaces for; she wasn’t interested in marketing them. Mia pouted a little “No kidding… But Keyboards are a bit more portable!” Mia took his hand as she stood up to stand next to him.

Mia smiled and took his hand as she looked at him “I know, and I’m glad.” Even if they didn’t work out, she hoped they would stay friends because Cameron was a very close friend, maybe even best friend and she didn’t want that to end. Mia started walking to the camp, holding Cameron’s hand. This wasn’t the worst date she’d been on, it had still been a nice ending.
