"Welp, you've definitely got what it takes to become one seeing as how I understood about a half of that sentence and that was about it." He would be the first to admit that he wasn't the smartest guy in the room, and figured that 90% of the time he was probably more at the lower end of the knowledge pool when it came to the people he talked to. Then again, he worked at a school. Most of the people here had gone to nice colleges to learn how to teach and all that kind of stuff.
Meanwhile, he'd graduated high school and gone to work at a convenience store. Sure it was a nice convenience store but it wasn't quite some of the places that most of the people at Hammel had on their resume. Her question was a valid one, but he'd never considered going to any kind of college. When he'd left Hammel he'd pretty much HAD to go straight to work. He needed to help his mom, and all that sort of thing. He stretched out a little bit as he started finishing up the cooking portion of the meal, sprinkling a bit more cheese on them and opening up the jars of salsa.
"They probably do, but I didn't really have much of a choice about things like that. I needed to work when I left high school. Didn't really have the time to fit it in anyway," he said with a light shrug. "Are you going to want one of the hot ones or the mild ones?" he asked. He looked around for a second while he waited for the cheese to melt. He should probably plan next week's lesson plan or something. Teachers did that kind of thing, right?
"It's not really that hard. I learned how to make them from a a place around the corner from where I used to work. I'd go there for lunch sometimes and this would be what I ordered most of the time. After a while I learned how to make it myself," he explained, pouring some of the salsa on the burritos, letting them sit for a moment before he started moving them over and wrapping them up. He slid one of them onto a plate and slid it over to her. "One hidden-veggie special." The spinach would probably show a little bit, but that would be just about the only thing.
