It was just past night fall when Dominic could hear his stomach growl in hunger, and thought it was loud enough to alert his room mates that he had yet to meet. So this meant that he had to get his lazy butt out of bed and get some food, if only he had been at home still, he could just walk about twenty feet until he had food. Yet here he actually had to walk longer then ten seconds to get food. "Dammit all" He truly did miss being home, missed his friends, just missed everything.

So he rolled out of bed and began to make his way out of the building. It really did not take him too long to get to the cafeteria, not even long enough for him to have a smoke while he was outside, that irritated him a bit, but there was nothing he could do about that. His need for food outweighed his need to nicotine or pills, at the moment anyway. Dominic thought he was going to have a peaceful meal, yet even before he left the dorm he sensed the presence of a few Meta's. However as he arrived that number had diminished to a handful of students, maybe it would be a good meal after all.

Angie had been at Hammel for a little over seven months now. So far, her time here had gone relatively as how she’d wanted it to. The blonde girl was flying under the radar. Mostly at least. Sure, she had to see Dr. Neville once a week. And there was that awful Harmony girl who was set on tormenting Angie from time to time. But except for those two, Angie went unnoticed most of the time. Which she was perfectly ok with.

But she did take notice of the other students. And when a student she didn’t recognize, not even a little, walked into the cafeteria, she figured he was new. Or maybe new-ish and she just hadn’t seen him around yet. But after a moment of staring, her eyes quickly fell back to her tray of food. Spaghetti and a salad. Or what had been spaghetti and a salad anyway.

With nothing left to eat, she pushed her tray to the other side of the empty table, to be dealt with later, and pulled out her sketchbook. Trying to do so conspicuously, Angie peeked at the blonde haired boy she suspected to be new. Some might consider her habit of drawing most of the students to be a bit… peculiar. But she saw it as good practice. In drawing and being discrete, which she hadn’t exactly mastered yet, as she often didn’t have their permission to be doing so.

It took a few minutes for Dominic to find the meal best suited for him, and with such a meager selection he was stuck with Macaroni and cheese, and a couple of burgers, it would have to do. Being in the cafeteria only made him miss home even more right now, the quality of the food looked rather sub-par, but that's what he gets for waiting until late to get some food. There were a few people in the cafeteria with some unique powers, but one seem to catch his attention most, well that and made him check his food for a lost digit. He looked around for the person with the peculiar power and found her, looking at him, and what seemed to be drawing him.

So he looked right at her, and made a face at her hoping to throw her off her sketch a bit. He really didn't mind being a model for an artist as he did the exact same thing she was doing from time to time, so he made his way towards her. "Figured you could get a better look if I was closer. Mind if I sit down?"

Angie had been so focused on trying to get the lines of his hair right that she hadn’t noticed that she’d been caught staring. His hair was a bit difficult. It was blonde, like her own, but it wasn’t tidy. Perhaps ‘bed head’ was the best to describe it. When she did notice the face he was pulling at her, it actually startled the girl. Her eyes grew wide and she pushed hard on her pencil. Too hard and she accidentally broke the tip off.

Her cheeks had already grown a shade of red. But when he came over it only made her blush deeper. Angie’s legs found their way onto the chair and she hugged them to her. “I’mreallysorrypleasedon’tbemadIpromiseIwon’tdoitagain.” Her words came out rushed and her eyes bore holes into her sketchpad. The sketchpad that showed a rough shape of his head and bit of his hair. Releasing her legs, Angie snatched it up. Well tried to. She didn’t actually manage to pick it up until the third try. But she did manage to get it closed. Where was a rock to crawl under when you needed one.

Wait… had he asked to sit? That startled the young girl enough to make her look up at him, obviously confused. “I-I supp- If you’d like.” Reaching across the table, she moved her tray back in front of herself so he could sit were he’d like. Was she supposed to make conversation now? Fighting the urge to bite her finger nails, she clasped her hands together on top of her knees. “A-are you new? To Hammel?”

Dominic couldn't help but let out a laugh to the girls reaction to him approaching her, seemed like she was use to going around un-noticed at the institute. Her first response shot out of her mouth so fast that he could make out two or three words of the jumble, she was nervous and somewhat embarrassed to be caught sketching candidly like that, he really didn't mind though. it was actually refreshing to meet someone who takes as much pride in their creative side, and someone who finds inspiration so easily. He did the same thing, but it did feel a little weird to be on the other side of the sketch book.

He looked at the sketchpad that was laying open in front of them and tried to reach for it to check out her preliminary , alas the girl scrambled to get it out from his eye sight. "There's no need to be so embarrassed, I'm rather flattered to be honest. I'm an artist myself, and I've been in your shoes right now quite a few times" Dominic said with a grin and placed his tray on the table across from her before she could utter her response.

"Actually I just arrived on campus only a couple hours ago, so yes I am quite new here. Met a few interesting characters, but it's refreshing to meet someone with a knack for the arts"

The boy laughing only made Angie blush harder. She could feel a tightening in her stomach. And more than anything to wanted to run towards the door. It was an awful feeling to believe somebody is laughing at you. It’s even worse when they’re laughing at you directly in front of you. Despite how badly to wanted to leave, she didn’t. Mostly because she was positive she’d run into something and make an even bigger fool of herself. Why did she have to draw him? Why not somebody else?

An artist? That part caught the girl’s attention for sure. She peeked at him momentarily, and then looked back at her tray. “Wwwhat kind of art do y-you do?” Another artist? Then he understood. Plus, he just said he’d been caught doing the same thing. It helped the girl to relax. At least a little bit. She knew that he wouldn’t reprimand her for simply drawing. After all, he’d been in this exact spot before. “I caaan only draw w-well.” Though, she’d always wanted to try sculpting. But it was ‘too messy’.

So she was right, he was now. If Angie were the kind of person to triumphantly smile, this moment would be the time she would use it. “It is….inter-interesting. To say the least.” Her eyes flicked to the double doors leading out. But she couldn’t simply run away like that. I was rude. “I-I’m Angie by the way.” She tacked it on at the least second, thinking to rude to converse without at least knowing each other’s first names.

Dom smiled when the girl responded to his comments about him being a fellow artist, and could see her body relax a bit, not much but enough for now. She seemed to still be embarrassed though by him catching her draw him, but he gave her reasoning not to be. She then opened her mouth to stutter out what kind of art and that she could only draw for now. "Well personally, I love to paint, usually have all my art gear with me, because as you well know now, you never know what may inspire you to be creative" He said before taking a fork full of the cheesey goodness of mac n'cheese and put it in his mouth.

Dom could see her eyes dart towards the doors leading out of the cafeteria, and felt bad that this girl seemed so shy, so insecure. Then again, with her powers how could you not be, so he reached his hand across the table and placed it on top of hers. "Hey it's okay, there's no need to look for an exit strategy I'm not here to harm or make fun of you. My name is Dominic, but you can call me Dom"

Painting. Gosh, Angie had always wanted to try that. Art hadn’t been a class she’d taken in school when she was little. Sketching and doodling and drawing were just things she’d picked up when she was younger. But painting had always seemed wonderful. Being able to mix colors together until they were just the right shade. That was the worse part of colored pencils. Especially with the small packs she had. The perfect shade rarely existed. “Gosh. I’d love to paint. I think I’d lose myself in mixing colors though.” She was sure of it in fact. “I just draw. Nothing fancy like that.”

Angie’s back went ramrod straight when she left the weight of his hand. Touching so freely wasn’t something she was used to. And for the most part people had been respecting the general social norm of not touching strangers. Perhaps he wasn’t from around here. Not all cultures were like America after all. “Uh… Sorry.” She slid her hand out from under his, carefully and slowly as to try not to offend him. She searched for something to be able tell him that might excuse her looking to the door. “I… thought I had heard it, the door, open.” Clearing her throat, she offered a forced smile. “I’m Angela. Or Angie. Ang. Whatever.” Both hands safely within her personal bubble, she picked slightly at her nails. “So uh… Where are you from Dom?”

Dominic could tell from the sound of her voice that she truly did admire painting and all other forms of art, which made him feel a little bit easier about this place, maybe all meta's weren't bad. "That's half the fun of painting, mixing the colours, and getting inspiration from them alone" However she seemed to put herself down for just being able to draw, and from her reactions earlier possibly meant she wasn't so proud of her work.

He then saw how his reassuring gesture was met with discomfort, so he removed his hand from hers and just smiled. She seemed to be tripping over her own words to cover up her glances to the door of the cafeteria, it was the institute cafeteria, of course it was going to be opening and closing from students coming and going. However there weren't any doing such at the moment, the few still in the room seemed quite content with staying and going about their business.

"Pleasure to meet you Angie, do you mind if I see some of your work? I understand if I'm putting you in an imposition, I'm just curious to see how that dashing picture of me is going. Well that and I want to see who your other victims are"

It was relief to her that he didn’t seem offended when she took back her hand from his. It was just… much too uncomfortable for her. Affection or any kind of touching was something that she wasn’t yet to be something she wished to share with many people. And quite often people seemed to react badly to her stiffening or flinching away.

“Oh… Um…” She glanced down at her sketchbook, trying to think through what she had drawn in there. There was that picture of her best friend, Bell. Actually, a few of him. That awful Harmony girl too. But mostly of her brother and sister. “Uh, yeah. I um, I suppose that’s ok.”

It took her half a second longer to actually hand her book over to him. “It’s uh mostly of my little sister and brother.” Her fingers found their way to their mouth as she began chewing on the nails. “If you’ve met Dr. Neville already, he’s in there too.” Though, she hoped he hadn’t met him yet. Because then he’d probably know what exactly he did at Hammel. And then he’d assumed Angie was crazy or something. "Or if you've met Mr. Kells. He's here at the school sometimes, but not a teacher." She added, trying to distract him from her knowing Sean.

Her eyes kept switching back and forth between her book and him, waiting to hear what he’d say. Angie thought her work was… average at best despite an art teacher at her old school telling her she had a talent for drawing.
