Power swap: Lift me up (Open)

Mia walked into the auditorium, hands shoved into the pockets of her jacket. It was midnight, yeah she knew she should have been in her room sleeping. She had woken up to a nightmare and couldn't go back to sleep. Now she was trying to figure what was going on with her power, she had been crying earlier and it hadn’t started pouring. She didn’t get it, at all. She was starting to get worried and it was starting to get her stressed out. She didn’t know who to go to, she couldn't go to anyone at this time at night; it was impossible. Mia thought about going to Dr. Neville when she knew he would be in his office; but she didn't want to bother him. Mia felt like she was bothering the Man enough with having to talk about her problems. Her ever-growing problems, they just weren’t letting up. She had been wishing for life to just give her a break.

Mia walked onto the stage and walked to the piano, sitting down on the bench as she stared at the keys. She sighed heavily, she just wished someone could just read her mind and help her willingly. She hated asking people for help, or bothering them in general. She figured just living was bothering people. She rubbed her thighs and forced herself not to start crying. She started mindlessly pressing keys than started to play ‘lift me up’ as well as sing it. She always came to the auditorium when she needed to think, or when she was sad, playing the piano and singing was her way of venting, to relax herself and her mind. Most of the time it helped and other times it didn’t.

It was late for Ana to be awake at this time. She wasn't always able to sleep, but it had been a decent day so she thought that at least a little bit of sleep would be possible. Of course, she was completely wrong. She tossed and turned, mind stricken with nightmares. Ana ended up with a sigh and decided staying awake would be the best thing for her to do. She played with her tail absentmindedly, thinking about a few things, one being the Hammel Retreat. Mia had spoken of a dance, but she arrived, she had seen her with a boy and they looked more friendly toward each other than expected. Perhaps Ana had misread the signs.

A pained sigh escaped her. She didn't want to think about that. Only, now, as she looked up at the ceiling, something felt wrong. There was an ache in her gut and a pulling of muscles from her tail as it slowly forced itself back into her body. She let out a small cry of pain as it finally vanished. She looked completely normal now and she felt herself over, trying to discover what just happened. Ears would not form, nor would the muscles stretch to help her in any way.

First, panic set into her. What if that was it? What if her power was gone? What if it was all a fluke and she wasn't meant to be here? Realization set in that her dreams had come true. That perhaps now, Ana was normal. She felt suddenly lifted and light and she wondered if she should tell someone. Of course, she first thought of Mia. She really seemed the one person she had talked to the most here so far.

There was a pulling, a tugging inside of her and she felt suddenly very sick. Her entire body felt as though it was on fire and then, there was nothing for a few seconds. Before she knew it, she was in the Auditorium, a couple feet above the stage. There had been a small pop of sound when she had arrived and with a surprised squeal, she fell to the floor, landing on her side with a smack. She looked around her frantically, unsure how she got here. She tugged on her night dress, making sure her thighs were covered as she felt the panic begin to set in. This was anything but normal.

Turning her head to the side, she spotted someone sitting at the piano and she shakily pushed herself up. "M-Mia..?" Ana called out, tears starting to spill from her eyes.

As Mia finished the song, she heard something hit the ground behind her. She jumped up and stood up to look behind her. Her heart had increased because she didn’t know anyone else was around. She thought she had been alone, especially at this hour. Then her heart slowed down as she took deep breaths as she saw the girl in front of her instantly knowing who she was. She would never forget about the shy girl she had bonded with at the retreat.

Mia saw her tears and her jaw opened slightly. She moved to stand on the piano bench and then jumped off of it as she slightly ran toward the girl and hugged her close. “Hey it’s okay, sweetheart. What’s wrong?” She placed a gentle hand on Ana’s head intertwining her hair through her fingers. She realized the girl didn’t have her cat ears but she knew she could retract them. She really wasn’t sure what else to do other than comfort her for now till she figured out what had happened to her.
