Powers: Alchemy. Jean has the ability to turn metal into any other type of metal, with varying degrees of success. He still has to work on turning it to the metal that he wants it to be, but he’s got time. Also, the object in question might just turn into a lump of another metal.
However, the more he works with heavy metals (mercury, nickel, aluminum), the more likely it is for him to get heavy metal toxicity, which includes nausea, sweating, headaches and fatigue. It also could aggravate his heart condition, Long QT Syndrome.

General Appearance: Jean is a little on the short side (okay, so he’s tiny. Shh), and his condition keeps him looking a little frail. But looking at his face, you know he doesn’t let that get in the way of living. He smiles a lot and always looks generally cheerful and self-confident, unlike his awkward older brother. He dresses well (it’s important to look cool!), but doesn’t do a whole lot with his hair. He’s not a girl, after all.
Personality:Jean is a ham. There’s no way around it. He loves attention, he loves to show off and he loves the ladies. So far, all any lady has ever done was ruffle his hair and call him cute, but hey! It’s a start. Jean’s a bit of a Casanova, but he’s a sweetheart and loves to love. He doesn’t want to let his heart condition run his life, much to the chagrin of his siblings, who want to look out for him, and so he tends to overdo it a little. He hates feeling limited by his condition and sometimes resents RC for being on him so much about it. He just wants to have fun! But aside from that, Jean is confident and cheerful and wants to meet as many people as possible. Especially if they’re girls. Just saying!

History
Jean is third oldest in the troupe of seven children the Mannes have adopted from around the world. But for more on that, go to RC’s page because this… is all about Jean! Jean was born in Benin from a family that had more children than they could realistically afford, especially with Jean’s condition. Hearing of this, Andrew and Natalie contacted the parents and offered to adopt Jean and take them back to the states, where he would receive the best care. He’s part of a big family, but he never feels ignored. Mostly because he wouldn’t allow it. His siblings became his captive (sometimes literally) audience and his parents were his biggest supporters (and enablers). He hasn’t seen Les Miserables, but he’s pretty sure his namesake has to be pretty cool, since he’s named after him. And anyways, it has to be better that Raoul. He’s seen Phantom of the Opera. He knows the score.
Jean was nine when RC liquefied, and by that time Conrad was already graduated from Hammel. From that point on, he hoped and prayed that he would be meta too, once the time was right. So he was thrilled when he accidentally turned a stainless steel spoon into a hunk of lead. It was awesome. He’s thrilled about attending Hammel like Conrad and RC. This year’s gonna be fun.
