General Appearance: Standing at a healthy 6’3, Charlie by no means towers over people, but he can be physically imposing when he wants to be (which is rarely). He is in very good shape, thanks in part to his job and in part to his affinity for pick-up Basketball games and going to the gym. His brown hair is always tousled and seems to be in constant need for a haircut and he usually possesses a perpetual five o’clock shadow. He dresses casually, usually in tennis shoes, jeans, a T-shirt and a loose sweater. Being a plainclothes officer, Charlie enjoys the privilege of being out of those itchy uniforms and patrolling in his regular clothes. Which fits with his laidback personality just fine. He is a generally handsome individual with a kind, wide smile. His eyes are blue-grey and crinkle up tightly when he smiles, which is more or less all the time. Smile and laugh lines are carved deeply into his mouth and around his eyes, lending him an honest, cheerful appearance.
Personality: Charlie is predominantly a cheerful soul. At first glance, you wouldn’t expect his temperament to be well suited to law enforcement. He generally tends to avoid confrontation and is a relatively gentle soul. He firmly believes that people are internally good until proven otherwise and is all too willing to give people the benefit of the doubt. He understands that law is not in the black and white and there are always two sides of the story. However, all he wants to do is the right thing and he very much wants to help people in need, which is why he decided to be a police officer. He’s a tad idealistic, and when he joined the academy, he had a starry-eyed vision of himself as a modern day superhero, swooping in and saving hapless civilians. Over the years, he has realized that this is not altogether true, and that sometimes things get complicated, but that’s okay, because he knows he’s helping someone and that’s all that matters. He may seem naïve, and he allows people to believe it, but he is devoted to his job and understands how cruel the world can be. As his older sister used to say: “he knows the score, he just refuses to play”. However, when the badge comes off, Charlie is a bit of a pushover, and has a white knight syndrome the size of a small country. This sometimes results in him getting taken advantage of. He also has a weakness for crying women, and this has been taken advantage of before, both in and out of his job. As such, he’s not really allowed to do interrogations by himself, especially if there are crying women involved. He is reliable, trustworthy and a little annoying, but he is a good friend and a good police officer.

History
Charles Andrew Davis was born on March 3, 1964 to Thomas and Mary in San Francisco, California. It was a perfect pregnancy, labor and birth and the couple welcomed their second child and first boy into their home. Charlie and Lizzie (his older sister by two years) grew up the best of friends and remain close to this day. Charlie did well in school, always encouraged by his parents to do as best he can so he can have the opportunities to do whatever he wanted with his life. Making friends was always very easy for him, and he could always be found surrounded by a small group of friends. He liked entertaining people and being surrounded by friends at all times. He was a happy-go-lucky child who sometimes did not get taken very seriously, but that didn’t trouble him. He wishes he could say that growing up in San Francisco in the ‘60s and ‘70s influenced his generally accepting outlook on the world, but in reality, he paid very little attention to the comings and goings of the current events and politics, despite living where he did. He was only peripherally aware of the fight metahumans were launching for more awareness and rights, and his involvement with metas did not really amount to much until college, when his college roommate was a telekinetic who used to attend Kosher. He still remains in contact with him to this day.
He decided to attend college at University of Massachusetts to major in American History. He had every intention to be a high school history teacher when he got out of college until one day, he watched a program advertising the police academy. At that point, though he wouldn’t recognize it as such until much later, Charlie had a sort of minor epiphany. This was what he wanted to do with his life. A goal now in mind, Charlie made the necessary preparations to join the police academy after college. His parents were surprised and a little dubious, but true to their word, they supported him in his endeavors. After a seemingly endless stay at the Academy, he passed with flying colors, and became an official law enforcement officer of the state of Massachusetts. He lived there for a good part of his life.
The town of Pilot Ridge came to his attention when rumors reached him through the grapevine of some suspicious disturbances of the little town. Some idle searches yielded very little, but the mystery surrounding the town piqued his interest. He requested a transfer to Pilot Ridge and, after taking the necessary assessment tests, was inducted as an official in Pilot Ridge. Curiously, there seems to be a curious lack of law enforcement in general and a suspicion of law enforcement that troubles Charlie greatly. He hopes to do some good and instill some confidence into the denizens of this quaint little town.
