Hello from Hammel's Staff! We've got a bunch of announcements for things that have just happened, are happening now, and will happen soon on Hammel!
First, and perhaps most important, the Hammel staff has finally started a system so completed threads may be archived as they are finished. Hopefully, this will help those with thread trackers keep them updated, and will prevent clutter on the boards. As always, threads are archived in sub-boards of the boards they originated on, so they will not be any more difficult to find. For more information, see our ARCHIVAL THREAD.
Also, some reminders on our rules:
Happening Now!
Hammel's July ACTIVITY CHECK is underway. Please look at our spreadsheet and check your characters' entries for inaccuracies. The activity checks are what keep our statistics up-to-date, so check in.
The July/August EVENT is a time warp. You have until the end of August to thread in the future or past of your characters. The next time warp will be in January.
The Hammel Institute's GRADUATION is still going on, though the graduating class has already been moved to their new usergroups. If you didn't sign up your character to graduate, you have until July 17 to do so. PM me to do so, but remember they have to fit the qualifications listed HERE.
Please complete this IN-CHARACTER SURVEY for each of your characters. The questions were populated by member input, and I'll be posting results whenever I think we've had a good enough sample. It gives a bit more insight into the demographics of the characters. If you have a question you think would be good on a future survey, post in THIS THREAD and we might use it.
July's WRITING CHALLENGE and GRAPHICS CHALLENGE are up and open for submissions! The writing challenge's theme is patriotism. The graphic challenge is to create some kind of cracky (or not-so-cracky), non-canon graphic.
And, as always, we have a SUGGESTION THREAD if you have an idea for an event, challenge, or just an suggestion for something new.
Finally, follow us on TWITTER or TUMBLR if you have them! Get updates on open threads, wanted characters, ask the staff questions, and submit artwork you've created. For more information on how to submit to our tumblr--no, you do not need one of your own to submit art/links/quotes/questions--check out THIS.

Also, some reminders on our rules:
- If you receive a warning from staff that your behavior is making someone uncomfortable, listen to them. Staff's first priority is maintaining a site we'd want to play on ourselves.
- Signatures must be 500px or less wide. Otherwise they stretch the board and slow it down with resizing.
- Don't change font colors or size in your posts. We have people on the site who have trouble seeing different colors, and the default font colors and sizes were chosen so they would be easily readable. After all, you want people to be able to read what you write!
- Nagging members, guests, and staff for posts, filling wanted characters, and reviewing applications is not allowed. Hammel is a game. It is no one's job, and badgering people is usually the surest way to get your thread/application/whatever pushed to the bottom of the priorities list.

Upcoming Events!
This Summer:
- The Talk- Every year Dr. Sean Neville holds a sex ed seminar for the rising seniors at Hammel, and anyone else at the school who would like to attend. Every year it is a ridiculous thread and a lot of fun. Coming in July!
- LGBT Prom- The LGBT Youth Center is holding a prom, and characters age 14-21 are invited to attend! (If you think your character would be a good chaperon, PM Dryope!) The event will be backdated to spring, before graduation. Coming in July! (Now up HERE)
- Community Field Day- Pilot Ridge is hosting it's second annual Field Day, where locals and Hammelites alike can get together for food and fun. Coming in August!
- Hammel Field Trip- It was cancelled last year do to the chaos caused at The Talk (warning to those who'd be a disruption!), but this year, all Hammel students in good disciplinary standing (Sorry, Vincent!) and staff are invited on a five day trip to a private campground in New Hampshire! Coming in August!
- Power Swap- It's everyone's favorite non-canon event! Sign up your characters to have their lives flipped upside down when they wake up with a completely different ability, or perhaps none at all! Coming in September!
