Being genuinely happy felt a little odd to Sloane. Especially when that feeling came from being in a working relationship. Sure, Hart and her hadn't actually defined their relationship properly but it had been four months since they first started dating and they seemed even more comfortable with each other.
And boy was she happy.
It didn't, of course, deter her from playing her bad cop routine so that was why she was patrolling the lake for any troublemakers. Ever since those two teenagers stole the boat, the police station had been on high alert for any suspicious behaviour in the lake.
It was a little overboard but Sloane believed that prevention is definitely better than the cure.
She refrained from pressing on her radio to talk to Hart because who knows who would be hearing her being all mushy with her...dating person.
And then came the thoughts. Again.
That morning, she wondered why she was suddenly bombarded by her roommates' voices because they seldom spoke. Not this loudly and this candidly either. Addison especially. She was a tad weird but she didn't usually express how weird she was...vocally. And Thomas, Thomas was more of a...he was an enigma that talked a lot but most of what he spoke about didn't actually permeate through Sloane's walls.
She couldn't remember if she had stolen someone's power from last night so this new-found power was definitely a nuisance.
Glaring down a speccy spotted teen who was checking out her ass in her uniform with his lewd comment about how a quarter would probably bounce back hard if it hit her, Sloane adjusted her belt that held her baton and her stun gun. The boy got the message and walked off with his head down low.
A far off thought caught her mind. It was more of a whisper and she frowned slightly. Out of context, it really sounded like someone was trying to cause a lot of trouble near the park. She couldn't quite make out where the thought was coming from but she headed in the park's direction anyway, looking around for where the thought came from but she couldn't find anything or anyone remotely resembling the thought wave.
Where was Dr. Neville when she needed him?
Sloane's hand itched to touch her stun gun, more out of comfort than anything. She trekked her way to the thought as it grew louder.
"Okay come on, who wants to throw the kitten in the lake?" She yelled out.
