The Basics
Name: Eleanor Jane McArthur
Nicknames:Elle, Or “that quiet girl”
Age: 19
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student Powers: Channeling
She sees spirits, she feels spirits, and sometimes, she can even smell spirits. Her power is channeling, of course, and not summoning, she only sees spirits that are tied down to a place she’s at. Elle of course can call upon a spirit, if she knows where it is tied to, however, she can’t make the spirit reveal itself, only offer it a way to communicate to the living world. She can hear them, whether she wants to or not, she can’t turn it off, it’s involuntary. There’s no place to run, and she can’t fend off that feeling that someone’s watching her...

The Details
Hair Color: dark brown
Eye Color: blue
Any Piercings? no, but she kind of wants to get her lip pierced.
Any Tattoos? no
Any Scars? no
General Appearance: Elle is thin build, but now that she’s a young woman, she’s proportionate. She doesn’t feel like she’s anything “wowing,” though she’s not too unhappy with her body. She occasionally likes to run early in the morning just to keep her in shape, and especially after her Ben and Jerry binges. Her hair is thick, and dark -a trait from her father- and she’s had her trademark bangs since she was a small child. Her mother used to nag at her when they touched her eyes, but Elle likes them that way. Her eyes are blue, a trait she received from her mother. Her skin, despite all her attempts, says either pale or she burns terribly- there is no happy medium. So in order to save herself the pain and the humiliation of being called “lobster girl” again, she rather likes to stay indoors (also because of allergies).
She favors to dress in vintage clothes, though she most likely can be found in long sleeves, jeans and her red high tops. Elle especially likes to look for 1920s reproduction hats, trinkets, and especially dresses.
Personality: Elle is some one who acts casual and confident, but who on the inside worries about acceptance. Growing up she was labeled “different” and she thought going to Hammel would finally make her fit in. however, she feels that her gifts are not as useful or as awesome as other students’ powers. She talks to dead people. There is only so much they can say. She likes to keep to herself for this reason, as if not to draw attention to her self labeled “uselessness”.
She is a kind girl, and it’s not likely that a malicious thought would ever cross her mind. Simply put, she has no guts, not really, to act upon any of her ambitions. Even if she liked a guy (which she has) she will never let them know, rather just shyly avert her gaze and hope he doesn’t notice her pining. Her agreeableness has gotten her into some scraps, as she is the kind of person who is more like to be taken advantage of than take some one else. Which is perhaps why she finds the term “psychic” so insulting.

Strengths: Piano playing, she started playing at the age of five on her mother's little upstanding piano crammed into the corner of their living room. Since at Hammel she has continued her lessons, and every once in a while she finds the guts to play for a crowd.
Weaknesses: Communication with the living. While she talks to the dead all day, and some times night, she finds it incredibly hard to talk to people at school and around. She's afraid they might ridicule her, or worse, take advantage of her. She's painfully shy, perhaps even ashamed of her powers, so it doesn't help.
Fears: Of failing
Secret: she feels inadequate because she doesn’t think her power is anything that special that she needs to be at Hammel. She feels as though super strength or super speed are more worthy, and she’s just a party trick.
Family Ties
Father: Edwin “Good Ol’ Eddie” McArthur
Out in the barn all of the time, he comes in for dinner and sleep, and then is back out milking the cows by 4 in the morning. He interferes with his children’s lives very little, but is supporting when they need it.
Mother:Angelica “Mama Ange” McArthur
Very much the mother hen, where their father is unmeddling, she is the meddler, asking questions, bossing around, poking around into their social lives. Whenever one of her children leave the house, even for college, she sobs for days.
Siblings: (there are seven)
Luke (24)
Was a star football player in highschool and went to State U on scholarship. He recently earned his degree in Agribuisness and is back home on the farm.
Steven (23)
Went to one of the other public universities and got a degree in biology. He is currently working on his masters and living with his college sweetheart.
Jolene Marie (20)
Goes to a private Christian college and is trying to get her teaching degree in English and Literature.
Michael “Mikey” (17)
A senior in high school, writes to Eleanor the most, after their mother. Played junior varsity football, but got hurt, so now he just plays in the band.
Brittany (15)
A cheerleader and obsessed with shopping. Elle and Brit couldn’t be more opposite, and she hardly hears from her.
Jesse Aaron (14)
Her brother, who aspires to be a great guitarist one day. He was first banned from the house, and then from the barn loft as he seems to annoy everyone with his crackling amps.
Anna Lynne (8)
She does not know this sibling very well at all, since she was born when Jenna went to Hammel.
Any Other Important People:Pets count
History
Born number four of eight, her parents were hardly new at the parenting game by the time she came along. She was born to a Roman Catholic dairy farm family, and her siblings could be testament to that. She grew up doing farm chores like feeding the calves to helping her mother in the kitchen. Still, from about the age of nine something started to happen. She started to see people who were not there. Her mother first thought she was making up imaginary friends, but then it occured to Mama Ange that Ellie was getting too old for that. A superstitious woman, she took it as some sort of sign, at first, but when she called all her relatives and no one died, Mama Ange had to come up with another solution. Could her daughter be psychic like the turban-wearing, husky-voiced women on television? They often were born with their gifts or had them from some death-defying accident. But her daughter Eleanor had no traumatic event, and she never saw these ghosts before.
Then, Angelica got the most wonderful plan- she would market her daughter, be sort of like her "agent." When it was clear that Eleanor couldn't summon dead relatives, only see those bound to the house, Angelica drove her around their small town, taking her to their neighbors and charging money for the small 9 year old girl to inspect their barns and attics. It wasn't long after this "exploitation" started when Hammel found out about Eleanor, and took her from the small Midwestern farmhouse to the east coast. So there for nearly ten years now she has gone to school, and she plans to be done with her schooling and training this year. Her mother writes almost daily, but doesn't call - it's long distance, doncha know- and seems excited for Elle's return home. Only, Elle isn't sure she wants to go back.
