Name: Tobias Tyler Davidson
Nicknames: Hates being called Toby
Age: 16
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Shape shifter
Tobias is a shape shifter that can transform into animals by absorbing fossilized DNA. The process is done by touch and doesn’t take more then a minute, but once Tobias has absorbed the DNA he can transform into the creature through a chrysalis stage.
The transformations can take from minutes to hours depending on the amount of weight added or subtracted. The chrysalis itself can survive in any type of livable environment, weather it’s at the bottom of the challenger deep, or on the Antarctic wastes. However, Toby is completely defenseless inside the chrysalis and if it is ever ruptured he will die. While the chrysalis is very durable it forms to withstand the environment Tobias is in and can be damaged easily depending on what that environment is. If formed in the cold, heat will damage it and if formed in the desert the cold will be unbearable.
Transformation for Tobias can also be quite painful. While the pain itself is not as intense as most shape shifters because of the chrysalis form, the amount of time it takes Tobias to transform into his larger morphs can be torturous. As a result Tobias has trouble controlling himself in the first several minutes of his larger morphs and often is at odds with the animal instincts that each form has.
Toby can only hold the genetic code of three animals at a time and once he replaces one with another, he can only regain it by returning it to the original source. At this point he has three morphs, which include the following.
Smilodon Populator
The largest and most powerful feline that ever lived, Smilodon populator was the apex predator of it’s time and is the largest and most powerful feline that ever lived. At on average a half a foot taller and several hundred pounds heavier then the Siberian Tiger, the largest cat today, Smilodon populator while not far larger then later, is far more muscular. Smilodon populator like all cats was an ambush predator and like the lion was a pack animal. The specimen that Toby gathered DNA off of was a large male, likely a pride leader weighing half a ton and standing at four feet in height at the shoulders. The skeleton he obtained the DNA from resides in a museum in Brazil. It takes Toby three minutes to morph Smilodon populator.
Haast’s Eagle
Like Smilodon Populator, the Haast’s eagle was the apex predator of its habitat. A massive eagle with a ten foot wingspan, the Haast’s eagle was pound for pound the largest bird of prey to ever live. While birds of today approach and can exceed the Haast’s eagle’s wing span, the bird had a rather short wingspan for its actual size. Twice as heavy as the largest of today’s eagles, the bird could fly up to fifty miles an hour despite its mass and can do so with great maneuverability. The skeleton that Tobias gained this DNA currently resides in the New Zealand natural history museum.
Tylosaurus
Of all the morphs that Tobias has ever assumed, none is more powerful and frightening than that of the Tylosaurus. As his previous morphs this animal was an apex predator, but unlike Smilodon and the Haast’s eagle the Tylosaurus wasn’t the apex predator for its specific region, but the entire planet. The largest of the Mosasaurs, a group of marine reptiles that ruled the sea in the Cretaceous period, Tylosaurus grows to fifty six feet in length and thirty tons in weight. With a skull the length of and strong enough to crush bone, muscle and all, there is nothing in the sea today that is more dangerous. Because of the great size of this morph Tobias takes no less then an hour to transform too and from the Tylosaurus.

The Details
Hair Color: Black
Eye Color: Brown
Any Piercings?No
Any Tattoos?No
Any Scars?Multiple scars along his arms and torso that look like small animal bites or claw marks. They are actually battle scars from fights that he has gained while in his transformed forms.
General Appearance: Tobias is a young man of sixteen years in age, going on seventeen in October. He has short to mid length black hair and blue eyes. Tobias stands around five foot nine in height and has a lithe athletic build. He has numerous scars along his arms, torso and legs that look like a combination of animal bite marks and claw marks.
Tobias doesn’t have a fashion sense outside of preferring comfortable clothes over uncomfortable clothes. He is not a fan of the suit, dress pants, dress shoes or anything you’d find on somebody concerned about their social image. Tobias usually can be found wearing cargo pants, tee-shirts and either sneakers or hiking boots when out and about.
Personality: Tobias is the quiet type. With most of his teenage life being spent in the form of one animal or another, he has never had the opportunity for much socialization like the other students. In Tobias’ mind this is not a weakness however, but rather, a crucial strength. The four years that Toby spent on the run from foster homes and social workers gave him a glimpse of parts of the world that most people would rather ignore. It has made Tobias more analytical and reserved when dealing with people he doesn’t know personally. It has also made him far more mature the average person of his age.
Tobias is more then willing to speak up when he feels that it’s important for his voice to be heard, but outside of that he prefers to take a spectators point of view to the world around him. When he does speak up most people are surprised to hear the words of a young man with wisdom far beyond his sixteen years of life. He is very observant and despite the years he lacks in schooling is quiet intelligent, though is less so academically then he is worldly.
Tobias because of his quiet nature often has trouble making friends but on the rare occasions that it happens he becomes fiercely loyal to those he grows close to. This is one of many qualities of his transformation’s instincts that have carried over into his normal personality and he has a tendency to respond with aggression towards anyone that tries to hurt people he cares about. This goes double in animal form and is the main reason why he accepted the invitation to Hammel.

Fears: While Tobias has many worries there are few things that he actively fears, specifically in his animal forms. He does however have a fear of falling asleep in human form around other people. This can be related to his physical abuse at the hands of a foster father, incidents during his time in animal form and because of a yet to realize survival instinct that the absorbed DNA has planted in his subconscious.
Secret: Tobias was physically abused by his foster father when he was ten years old. Tobias also witnessed a number of atrocities in the war torn region of Southern Asia.

History
Born to a mother who never wanted and one of several possible fathers Tobias was a ward of the state of Kansas by the time his mother was high enough to leave him on the sidewalk. As it had before, the state planted Tobias in a number of inadequate housing, though none worst of all then under that of a cruel foster father between ten and twelve years old, the foster mother choosing to ignore her husbands behavior because of the fear that if she intervened he’d target her.
It was at twelve years old that Tobias first discovered his meta-human abilities when visiting a natural history museum and reaching out to touch the fossilized skull of a Tylosaurus, which would become his most constant morph throughout his later life. Acquiring two other morphs, Tobias spent no time in waiting to run away from his abusive foster father, using his acquired morphs to escape the life he'd known for over a decade.
For the next four years of his lift Tobias would live the life of a vagabond. While this life wasn’t always easy, it was one that he found far more enjoyable then living under the roof of a cruel father. He never had to worry about food as he always hunted in his assumed forms. Over time he would travel from Kansas, southward into South America as a dire wolf. Gaining the form of Smilodon Populator, he would spend months exploring the jungle where he would gain the trust of several indigenous tribes, his presence being kept secret from travelers in exchange for helping them hunt and protecting their village. Upon leaving South America he’d travel across the pacific in the Tylosaur form, following a migratory path of whales for food.
Upon arrival in New Zealand, Tobias would gain his first and current flying form as the Haast’s eagle. Taking to the air he would spend his days traveling the length of the island. It was also among this time that he’d have his first encounter with fellow meta-humans and would gain an understanding of just where his powers came from. He’d spend three months in New Zealand and several more in Australia. It was during his time in Australia that a local school teacher would persuade him to return to academic studies. Than came his travel to south-east Asia.
From the moment he stepped on the shore of Thailand Tobias realized just what sort of place he had come upon. After a month spent in that hell hole he quickly departed the continent of Asia and returned to New Zealand. What he had witnessed in the jungles, streets and along the rivers of South East Asia had changed Toby. Tobias was no longer the energetic teenager that had left America on an adventure, but a quiet traveler who did his best not to stand out from the crowd.
For the next year Tobias would spend most of his time traveling back to America. Crossing Europe, Tobias would witness more violence in the Balkans and eventually decide to just leave humanity behind. Taking to the ocean Tobias would assume the form of the Tylosaur and remain there for six months following the paths of migrating whales as he did before, this time pursuing the whales northwards along the coast of the United States.
It was around this time that Tobias would start to become known to a number of people from sightings of a large reptilian creature that was sighted following pods of whales. It was only until a marine biologist captured him feeding on tape that he started to become hunted by scientists. However, before Tobias could be captured by science, he was found by Hammel staff instead. Through telepathic contact with one of the staff, Tobias was guided to the waters off of New England where after several days of attempting to convince him to join the school’s student populace rather then stay in the ocean to be captured, he accepted.
Roleplay Example
It had been years since he’d walked along train tracks, years since he’d balanced upon the rails with shoed feet. While New England was not a part of America he’d ever been too the colors of fall were quite familiar to him. Oranges, yellows and reds had replaced the constant green of summer and string, while the heat had been replaced by a cool October breeze. The train tracks cut through the Vermont wilderness from north to south, Tobias himself having traveled north with a backpack for a long hike.
He had come alone with a backpack on his shoulders, a fishing pole in his hands and wearing a red and black flannel jacket, a white tee-shirt, blue jeans and hiking boots. Ten miles from civilization, Tobias had yet to take a single break on his excursion. With his powers having given him the means to live a nomadic lifestyle for almost half a decade, Tobias had experience in pacing himself over long distances. Only now as he heard the familiar sound of a river did he start to slow down his pace.
It wasn’t long until he was standing at the beginning of a bridge around fifty feet in length that ran across a large flowing river. “Wish I’d have known this was here back in the summer,” Tobias mused to himself as he made his way off the bridge and along the side of the riverbank. It wouldn’t take long for him to find his way to a rocky outcropping along the river and taking and setting his backpack down Tobias would unzip it and retrieve his tackle box. It wouldn’t be long before he was casting his line out into the river and enjoying his little fishing trip under the afternoon sun.
