It played over and over again in his mind. Each touch, every kiss, and the one name that he hadn't wanted to hear during that time. Noah. Ravyn's 'friend.' It was so funny how Lucah had known before it even happened that the boy would manage to screw up his relationship. Neither of them had seen it coming, but he had. He'd known all along, but looked past it for Ravyn's sake. And what did she do? She cheated on him. He wasn't sure to what extent she had cheated, but cheating was cheating nonetheless.

Maybe he hadn't handled it the best, maybe he should have just had her leave instead of telling her, showing her just how much it had hurt him. She'd said he hadn't deserved it, but what he couldn't understand was if he didn't deserve it, why did it happen? What had he done to push her into Noah's arms? It wasn't like he'd been cruel to her! He hadn't even really been that jealous at the mall. The only thing he'd done was grow cold and distant, but when she came back, things had gone back to normal. Or so he thought.

Lucah was glad he hadn't given Ravyn the necklace that his mother always wore. It was a necklace that meant more to him than anything else, besides of course his sister. And he'd wanted to give it to Ravyn. The first clue not to give it to her had been when he caught her with Noah. The second clue had been the gut feeling he got when he was with her, still seeing the way her and Noah had been before they'd seen him. And the last clue had been the name she whispered when being intimate with him.

On second thought, maybe he'd reacted just the way he should have. She deserved it. She deserved to feel guilty. She deserved every tear that was dripping from those bright green eyes. All of it. She was getting what she had coming to her. And as hard as it had been to see her cry while he dropped her off, it was what she deserved.

Tearing rapidly through the courtyard, Luc just wanted to get out of there. Get away from Hammel and stay away for as long as he had to. He hoped for the other boy's sake that he didn't run into Noah on his way to the car. There was no doubt in his mind that he'd hit him. Without a word, he'd let his fist snap forward into the blonde's face. Because despite how innocent Ravyn tried to make him out to be, Luc was furious and he wasn't thinking straight whenever he thought of the boy that had helped his girlfriend cheat right after telling him he had nothing to worry about! Nope, all hope of a friendship with Noah had vanished as soon as she said his name.

Calliope was in the courtyard, iPod in hand and earphones in. She liked sitting around there at night, because the cool night air was relieving on her skin after working out as she always did. She was still wearing her grey sweat pants and a tank top, but for the sake of feeling the grass in her feet she'd taken her shoes off. Yeah, she'd go back to her room eventually. The thought of homework made her think she should probably go now. When she sat up from the grass, that was when she saw him.

"Lucah!" She called out. He was trudging through the courtyard looking practically broken. Her eyes widened at the sight.

Worry etched onto her features; she knew a little bit about him and she would say that they were friends in their own way. But regardless of their relationship or closeness or anything like that, she still worried about her friends when she saw them in such a way. She shot up from the grass and took off after him, drawing the earphones away and throwing them in her pocket. "Hey, wait!"

The sound of his name being called almost seemed like his imagination. There was no way someone would be calling for him. No one knew him besides those few that were still here. No. He was imagining someone saying his name because he was still upset about earlier. There was just no way anyone could be looking for him right now. He didn't want anyone looking for him. He just needed to get away. Get out of Hammel. He could see his car from the point at which he was.

Then he really heard someone calling for him, footsteps pounding against the grass. At first, he thought it was Ravyn coming after him to try one more time to stop him from leaving. But as the footsteps drew nearer and the voice finally struck a memory. It was familiar, but not the girl he'd thought it was.

Stopping in his tracks, jaw set, he shoved his hands deep in the pockets of his leather jacket. "Callie. What do you want?" His voice was cold, bitter, and filled with pain. He couldn't hide it anymore. There was just too much pain for him to push back. She'd said Noah's name, not his. She didn't want him. No one did. His father was right. Everyone was right. Gulping, he looked down at his shoes and tried to focus on something besides where his mind was heading.

Callie watched as he stopped when she called out to him; a few more steps and she was able to stand in front of him. Now that she had finally caught a glimpse of his face up close, she could see that there really must have been something wrong. Sure, people said he was cold naturally and she kind of got that, but that wasn't all there was to the guy. She wouldn't get caught up in that kind of snap judgement.

His voice cut like ice. Callie felt the urge to reach out and hug him, but he didn't look like he wanted that right now. She wouldn't deter just because of his attitude. "I want to know what's wrong." She finally replied, taking a chance and reaching to touch his cheek with her hand. At the very least, she wanted to be able to look him in the eye.

"What happened?" She asked. She wouldn't ask if he was okay, because that question was pointless.

As she stood in front of him, it was difficult not to glare at her. It wasn't directed towards her, it was directed at his situation. It was directed towards all of the bull shit he was being put through again. It was like he just couldn't catch a break. What was it that drew all of the bad things towards him? Was it the cold? If so, why couldn't anyone else take it from him. There were more than just one cryokinetics, let the bad stuff be absorbed by the others. He was done with this shit.

It showed in the way he spoke, the icy chill that cut sharp and edgy. Luc was glad she hadn't reached out to hug him, he might have broke right then and there. Behind all of the bitterness, he was hurt. One move to comfort him could send him curling in on himself and wanting to vanish. Lucah Ivaskov was not easily hurt, but this cut had been one of the deepest he'd had. Funny how it had come from someone he'd hurt before.

Her touch, although comforting, had him flinching. Luc just couldn't handle physical contact now. It reminded him too much of the comfort he'd gained from Ravyn's warmth. It wasn't Callie's fault and though he was being sort of a dick, he hadn't meant to take it out on her. He just wanted to abandon everything and lock himself away. "It doesn't matter. What happened, happened and there's nothing that's going to take it back or make me feel better."

His tone of voice threatened to physically cut into her skin; sharp and cold. He flinched underneath her hand and for a second Callie thought she was supposed to draw herself away. But she had no idea what had happened, and what was going through his head to make him act in such a way. She was persistent to a fault; if she let him go off to his car where would he end up? What might happen to him if he was left to be on his own?

"Obviously it matters, Lucah. You look so..." Callie couldn't place it; she wasn't sure what word she was trying to look for. Rather than searching for it she shook her head and the thought away. "Tell me. C'mon," Her lips cracked into a light smile, "I might be able to help you."

Lucah sighed deeply and ran his fingers roughly through his hair. Why couldn't she just let him go? Of course it was probably for the best that he cools off a bit now that he wasn't worried about getting Ravyn back safely. Driving on his own at night in this sort of mood could definitely cause some problems. Not only that, but what would he do once he got back to the dorm? Surely one of those jock morons would be awake at that point and would feel the need to ask about the girl he had in his room.

More than likely, Luc would hit that guy.

Still, that didn't mean he wanted to sit here and talk about it with someone. It was nothing personal against Callie, it had everything to do with his fear of showing weakness. Yes, he'd heard that girls enjoyed seeing a guy's sensitive side, but he'd been raised to think that showing weakness was unacceptable. Despite the fact that he never spoke to his father, he still had that engraved into his mind.

"Look so what, Callie? Miserable? Pissed off? Well obviously that's the case," He snapped and then winced at his own tone. This was the last thing he'd wanted. Going off on Callie wouldn't make things any better between him and Ravyn. If anything, it would only make one more person hate him, but he couldn't stop. "How? Have you ever had someone say the wrong name when you were being intimate with them? If so please do tell how you sorted it out because I'm at a fucking loss here."

So that was what happened. Callie wasn't aware of who he might have been with or anything like that. She also had no idea how to help him out with his specific problem; she'd never been in that kind of position before. She retracted her hand finally, allowing it to rest on her hip. "No, I haven't." She replied honestly, because there was no point in trying to lie about it, and she was notoriously an awful liar.

"But I know that you shouldn't be driving when you're this upset." She replied. Of that she could be certain; that was how accidents happened. Calliope extended her hand to him, feeling the slight shiver from the wind against her skin. His skin was cold, but she didn't think it had anything to do with that. Her toes were pressed against the cool cement of the courtyard. "Give me your keys, Lucah." She said, a kind of determination settling into her blue eyes. "You can wait with me until you calm down, or you can come back to my dorm or something. But you're not driving anywhere."

Luc hadn't expected her to understand. No one did. Of course she wouldn't, the fact that he'd actually been hoping she'd be able to offer him some comfort in the fact that he wasn't the only one. He knew that it had more than likely happened to a lot more people than just him, but it felt like he was alone more so now than he had been before. The comfort he'd taken from Ravyn was now replaced with a cold empty feeling. It was almost painful the way he couldn't even picture her face anymore without seeing her with him.

"I can do whatever the hell I want. And I'm not upset. What would make you think that?" He asked darkly. The tremors passing through his body could have been a tip off. Or the clenching and unclenching of his fists. He was upset, hurt, angry. But he didn't want to be here. He'd rather get away despite all of the danger he could have been putting himself in. Any accident would be worth getting away to him.

His hand went straight to his pocket and tightened around his keys. Who did she think she was, telling him what to do? Treating him like he was some child? No. He wasn't about to do that. "No. I'm going back to my dorm. I can't stay here! I'll kill him or I'll...I'll...Ugh I don't know what the fuck I'll do but I can't stay here Callie! Don't you get it?" He yelled through his teeth. Lucah's hands shook violently and he ran them through his hair again, all signs of composure slipping around him. The walls he had built up were falling and he just wanted to curl up and disappear.

Callie raised an eyebrow at him. It was obvious he was upset; sure he had a strange sense of annoyance around him almost constantly and he was cold but it was really obvious that there was something more to this than just that. "You look upset." She replied, and that was all she would offer about it. She didn't feel the need to be specific about that.

Now he was yelling at her. She didn't flinch underneath his yelling but she did briefly close her eyes. And he wasn't going along with the plan. In honesty she never thought that he would. That was okay, because Calliope could adapt.

"Well if you wanna drive, then fine," She sighed. And he would likely assume that that was the end of it. Oh, Eric and Niko were going to kill her if they ever found out, "But I'm going with you. Because you're not going to drive like an idiot with another person in the car." She stated matter-of-factly. "But wait, who's he? Why do you want to kill someone? Lucah, come on."

Her simplistic answer had him rolling his eyes. If he hadn't been so angry, he might have even laughed at it because she was being so straight-forward with him. He was also thankful that she didn't go deeper than the word upset. If she'd gone in deeper, he might not have been able to listen. He might have really lost it.

The last thing Luc wanted to be doing was yelling at yet another person. First Ravyn, now Callie? Maybe Ravyn had gone to Noah because the guy was nicer. He wasn't one that seemed to do much yelling. He wasn't cold. He was perfect for her....

He was perfect for her.

The thought had Luc's chest hurting more. He shook his head, "No. You're fucking crazy if you think I'm actually letting you come with me. I don't need a damn baby-sitter. I'm not a child." And he didn't want her to see him break. Lucah couldn't handle letting her see him at his worst. The rage that would overtake him and the pain that would make everything else unbearable. Least of all, he couldn't handle her seeing him cry on the off chance that he did.

Her interrogation just made him shake his head faster. "Stop. Just stop. I don't want to talk about it, I just want to go. I want to get away I want to be alone. Why can't you let me do that? Why?" His eyes turned from cold and empty to full of pain and desperation. The blue was glassy and water filled his eyes. He turned away and began walking again in fear that she might have seen the fissure in his heart grow larger each moment.

Callie felt something surging in her head; she was not used to the feeling of anger or anything like that, but she was starting to wonder who had made him so upset. And she was... Mad at them. She was mad at a nameless, faceless individual who had hurt whoever was in front of him. And she understood to an extent that he needed to get his anger out somehow. "It's not a debate, Lucah." She replied. Eric could look after her once they got to the University anyway.

She felt her eyebrow twitch in frustration.

"Because what're you going to do when you're alone? How is that better than being with someone who wants to make sure you're okay?" But her words seemed lost on him as he turned and started walking away. Callie watched him with a sense of helplessness, unsure of what to do or how to help the situation. He wanted to go and that was obvious. He nearly got away, walking so far from her that it felt like an eternity. She pushed off the ground and started running.

Whether he knew or not, it was only seconds before she had collided with him and wrapped her arms around his shaking form. "Stop." She said, resting her forehead against his back, "Please."

Lucah hadn't meant for his anger to rub off on her. He didn't want her to be mad at Noah just because of him. It wasn't a good reason to be angry with someone. Yes, he was hurt and angry, but he didn't need someone else's anger feeding into his. And he knew Callie wasn't really an angry person, she was always very laid back whenever he was around her. They were pretty difficult in that aspect. "Well that's too bad because I'm not letting you come with me. I can take care of myself."

What would he do when he was alone? Good possibility would be throwing things around in his dorm room, or drive around until he just couldn't anymore. He knew it was dangerous, he knew it was a bad idea, but he didn't care. He couldn't find it in himself to care anymore. So many times he'd given his heart away and had it thrown on the ground and stomped on. Maybe it was his fault every single time, but that didn't make it hurt any less. Knowing it was his fault made it so much worse. "Because if I do something stupid, I won't hurt anyone else..." His words came out in a whisper before he began walking away.

Luc was so close to his car. So close to the freedom of getting away from this school and never having to look back. Just before he hit the parking lot, he felt someone run right into his back, arms thrown around him and her head resting against him. For a moment, he stood there frozen, but he turned around, disengaging her arms from him and placing them at her sides. The way she hugged him...he couldn't handle it. When he turned around, tears were already running down his face and he just looked at her. He looked down, "Why? Why should I? What does it matter if I get hurt or not? No one cares, Callie. Not anymore."

And it was true, he had no one. No family. No friends. Nobody to really care about him.

The seconds where he stood frozen felt like they dragged for a lot longer than they did. Callie waited in the silence to see what he was going to do. Break out and leave? Yell at her some more? It wasn't an entirely new situation for her, but it was a new face. She allowed him to move her arms and put them at her sides, because that was his choice despite how she could have combated it. But he turned to face her and he was... Crying. Not what she expected. She expected more shouting.

But he wasn't willing to look at her, and that was fine. His words were still cutting but with a different kind of edge. Inwardly, not outwardly. "I'm right here. You think I'd be trying to stop you from leaving if I didn't care about you?"

Lucah hated himself in that moment. He hated the weakness. Sure, he'd been hurt, but if he'd been stronger he wouldn't have let it get to him. He wouldn't have cared about being hurt. He'd have been pissed off at Ravyn, punched Noah and left it at that. That's what his father would have done. That's what he'd have told Lucah to do.

But that was the difference between Dimitri and Luc. Dimitri was a violent man, he beat his own son for crying out loud. Lucah was not a violent boy. He didn't enjoy fighting and he wouldn't if he could keep from doing it. In fact, as angry as he came off, he hardly ever expressed it through violence. It was one of the reasons that Dimitri always shunned Lucah from his group of friends. They were all the same types of people and Luc didn't fit in with them.

Despite what everyone seemed to think, he had a soft heart. A heart that could be easily penetrated and easily broken. As the tears slipped down his face, he wiped at them angrily. Shaking his head in denial, he looked at her, "Because you don't want something bad to happen to me so you don't feel guilty! That or you pity me. Neither one of those counts as caring."
