Leaving a Blood trail - tags Emi

[Chester Douglas]

Standing at the highest dive board, Chester looked down to make sure nobody was around. He turned to face the wall, his back to the pool before arching his back and using a little force to push himself off the board, he executed a double half pike cleanly into the pool before swimming off to the side.

Lazily, he kicked his feet underwater before swimming a lap. He did lazy backstrokes, happy that the water was blocking out both mental and physical noises.

But the peace didn't last that long as he was suddenly bombarded by young metas running into the pool and divebombing one by one.

He pushed away from them and swam to the corner to get out of the pool but the onslaught only got him halfway out before he saw the dripping blood trickle down into the pool drain. "Damn fucking tyros." He mumbled as he pushed himself out again, leaving a wispy trail of blood behind him.

Emilia had decided it was time she did something physical for once. As much as she loved reading all the time, the caffeine she had consumed while reading all day was starting to make her antsy. A quick look outside told her it was raining so going for a run was out; just as well, she didn’t really like being outside all that much. A swim in the pool seemed like the perfect answer for burning off her excess energy without having to actually work up a real sweat. She quickly changed into her suit and headed to the gymnasium.

As she came around the corner she saw a raucous group of kids a couple years below herself skipping into the pool room. She considered turning around and finding some other way of exercising out her energy, but decided against it. She followed the kids in to the pool room, figuring she could steal a lane and do laps without them bothering her too much.

As she walked up to the pool, she was distracted by someone on the other side. The red headed guy from her class was climbing out of the pool, trailing a stream of red blood behind him. She rushed over towards him. “Tyros, huh? The kids hurt you?” She joked as she came closer. “Here want me help with that?" Emi slowly reached her hand out towards his bleeding nose. "It’s ok" she smirked "I’ve sort of got the magic touch when it comes to things like this.”

Pressing the heel of his palm against his bleeding nose, Chester turned slightly when a female voice came from behind. Her words grated and in his discomfort, he glared at her. "Yes, I'm so incapable of defending myself from toddlers."

He reeled back from her hands. Not trusting where it had been.

"No. Thanks. I've got a bio manip on speed dial." He stared at her like she was insane before walking away. The stream of blood was not stopping and people were already taking notice of him.

“Well I didn’t mean it like tha-“ Emi tried to explain but before she could even get out the single sentence Chester was pulling away from her. She didn’t know what to make of it, being looked at like she was simultaneously crazy, possibly gross, and definitely not to be trusted. When all she had wanted to do was help, this guy had her perplexed.

As he got up and walked away blood kept dripping, staining the floor. “Look, if you’re too thick to let me help you that’s fine” at this point Emi was trying not to care so much that he might be in pain, not if he was going to treat her like that. “On speed dial that’s great…and are they going to clean up the mess you’re making?”

She stalked after him, people watching her all the way. She stood with her hands on her hips, head tilted to the side “Look would you please just at least let me stop the bleeding, you’re going to ruin any place you walk into like this.” Being stopped from helping wasn’t something Emi was used to, and she found that she didn’t like it. Something in her said to just let him go, if he was too stupid it was his fault, but the care taker that Emi had always been and would always be wouldn’t let her watch him leave in that condition.

She had a point. The mess was getting worst and the headache was now starting to pound so Chester sighed and stopped walking, turning to her with a raised eyebrow. "You better know what you're doing." He glared and leaned down a little so she could reach him.

“Well I may not be your personal 911 service but I think I’ve got a pretty good handle on bloody noses, thanks.” Emi rolled her eyes. What was it with guys like him, always thinking their tougher than everyone else and god forbid someone tries to help them. She was grateful that he was after all going to let her help him. She really wouldn’t have been comfortable to see him walk away injured.

“I think I’ve heard about you, Chester the telepath, right? All these kids must be wreaking havoc on your head.” Ok so his being a telepath wasn’t all she’d heard about him, and the way he’d been acting definitely lined up with everything else she’d learned about his character…or lack thereof. But Emi knew better than to focus on negatives while trying to heal someone so she cleared her mind as she stepped towards him.

“Just stand still alright, and I’ll have you ameliorated in no time.” Emilia made a quiet laugh at her little joke, ameliorated was probably her favorite word. She reached up and held the back of his head in her right hand, and gently touched the fingers of her left to the bridge of his nose. Closing her eyes for a moment she focused on alleviating the pain and stopping the bleeding. She opened her eyes to check that the blood had stopped flowing which of course it had, and drew her eyes up his face to see that the lines between his eyes had disappeared – good the headache was gone too then. Emi let go of Chester’s head and took a step back before things could get awkward which was all too common with healing and she knew it wouldn’t make it any easier that he could know what she was thinking. “So, feeling better now?”

He laughed at her mockingly for the eye-roll. The next few words coming out of her mouth made him smirk. "You sure you just heard that about me? Or was that a conscious effort to find out about me? It's okay, girl. You don't need to be in denial."

Breathing in deeply, Chester moved closer, purposely making her feel uncomfortable as she touched his nose. A very weird tingling sensation ran through his face and he could feel the blood stop rushing out.

Even the headache was slowly dissipating.

"Mm. Your hands are making me feel so much better." He responded with a smirk. He caught her hand and pulled it up to his lips, giving them a kiss. "Much too kind, m'lady."

Emilia chose to ignore his laughing at her, figuring she’d just fix him up and be done with it. But the next thing that he said turned that decision on its head. “Oh so that’s how you think I spend my time? Well at least I know you’re not reading my mind if that’s what you think I meant” If Emi wasn’t so dead set on helping people she might have just walked away, but she knew her conscience would never let it go so she pushed his comments out of her mind.

Emi was glad that her eyes were closed as Chester moved awkwardly closer; at least he couldn’t laugh at her for rolling them this time.

“Yup that’s what they do, told you, I’ve got the magic touch” said Emi before being utterly startled as he pulled her hand to his lips. She froze for a split second wondering if maybe she had been 'too kind' after all, letting her caring instincts outweigh her opinion of him. She roughly pulled her hand out of his, crossed her arms and took another step back. “Uh, right, yeah…well…you’re welcome.”

"Doubt a girl like you has secrets I could use against you." He smirked at her response. "Good girls never do."

Chuckling, Chester was amused at her use of words. "You certainly do." He could tell that his move had not been anticipated and he gave himself a mental pat on the shoulder for having that effect on people still. Even when she pulled away, he kept his smile up. "There has to be something I could do to thank you." He gave her a look under his pale lashes.

“Yeah, good girl who has no secrets…that’s me alright” Emi knew that she in general came off that way and even if she didn’t fully believe it, she wasn’t about to correct him.

She wasn’t quite sure what to make of Chester at this point. First he had brushed her off when she tried to help him, and then after giving in he’d done everything to make it as awkward for her as possible. Now this…was he just being a pest or was he actually trying to be flirtatious? “No really, that’s alright, this is just what I do, glad to see you fixed up.” Emi might not be sure what to make of him and his intentions but she did know better than to give Chester a shot at anything. Emi looked back over her shoulder to the pool, trying to decide if she still wanted to go for a swim or if the healing had sapped her energy enough to not need the exercise anymore.

Chester raised an eyebrow at Emi's answer, wondering if there was anything behind it. He supposed he could just read her mind but he didn't think she was worth the effort. Even his charm was obviously not being taken in by her.

The hot and cold switch probably made her a lot more apprehensive than before so he decided not to pursue her any further.

"If you insist." He shrugged and looked down at the fading red on the ground. "Huh...Better go before someone sees that. I'll see you around, girl with no secrets." He smirked, waggling his eyebrow before walking off.

“You can’t just leave this mess!” Emi called after Chester who made no recognition of her words and continued walking away. “Insolent ass” Emi muttered to herself…she couldn’t very well leave the mess for someone else, even if it wasn’t her responsibility. She quickly retrieved paper towels from the changing room and hastily cleaned up the mess before returning to her dorm having exerted plenty of energy between the healing and the clean up.
