Thyme is a very attractive, 16 year-old male with sandy blond hair, white skin, and blue-green eyes. His skin is smooth and scarless, save for a few minor burn marks, with a decent color mix between pale and tan. He is thin with a medium build, and an average height for his age. Seeing as he is a bit reckless, his posture is more relaxed, but sometimes he can be rather cocky and puff out his chest as a show of ‘dominance’.

When he is in use of his powers, there is a different light to his eyes. This light is ‘electric’ as you might describe, and often you can see the sparks dancing across his skin. However, his electricity is not always visible when in use, typically when he is not in complete control, and sometimes he can accidentally shock a person or effect the appliances or other objects around him.

Personality:
Thyme comes off as a very flirty, self-confident individual, but he can be extremely loyal and protective of those he cares about. He does not cling to inviduals and would rather the one he cares for be free to do as they please, even if it hurts him. He will do just about anything to keep them safe, but unfortunately, he doesn’t always think before rushing into decisions due to little care over his well being. Ty is always up for anything fun, even if it may result in mistakes, but he perceives this as something he simply has no control over, much like many of the circumstances in his life (ie: his powers), and he does little to fix them once the damage is done.

Thyme is a lax person who hides a bit of who he really is. For example, he may flirt with someone and imply that he wants to sleep with them, but it is merely a show, since he is actually a virgin. He easily makes friends, but he has a difficult time showing people trust. However, the person he distrusts the most is himself.

Thyme is often afraid of hurting people with his powers or relationships, and he tries to avoid touching people when he feels he is emotionally unstable. Ty is also extremely cautious around water, metal, and electrical objects, since he may hurt those around him if caught in the wrong kind of circumstance. He eats a lot if given the chance, and one can sway him to do just about anything for bacon.

Strengths: Ty can be a great friend and he’s super easy to have fun with. He is also talented in athletics, particularly running with his fantastic stamina. Thyme also has great integrity and perseverance, and he will not give up on something once he’s started and will do the right thing when it is necessary (or when he thinks it is).
Weaknesses: Ty can be a bit impulsive at times, and this leads to him making plenty of mistakes. He also is incapable of thinking straight when emotionally unstable, and his powers can hurt those around him in this state or when drenched by water.
Fears: Ty is absolutely terrified of killing a person with his powers. He has come close a couple of times, and this is the reason why he is so determined to have complete control over his abilities

History

Thyme was born 16 years ago to his parents, Adam Ersilia and Rita Ersilia. He has one sibling, his younger sister Angela, and since she was born, she has looked up to her brother and hardly left his side. However, as they grew older, Ty began to grow more distant from her and the rest of his family as his powers erupted unannounced.

The summer before he turned 14, he suddenly became aware of the changes going on in his body when one day he seemed to be harboring a strange amount of static electricity. Eventually, later that day, his powers took a dramatic turn for the worse and he shocked his grandmother near to death when she embraced him during her monthly visit. His family told the doctors otherwise since they too were unaware of what had happened. Ty was scared, but later that week, he decided to take a trip to the beach to try and clear his head from the strange occurence.

He went a few days without any more problems, but eventually he encountered a serious situation while at the beach in which he shocked himself and all of those around him. This was because he was submerged in water, which is a great conductor of the electricity he produces, and Ty needed to be revived by the paramedics. The other people in the water were hurt as well, but fortunately no one died, and the paramedics were relieved and baffled at the strange situation.

The boy was devastated and unsure of what to think. He didn't know what was happening to his body, and he isolated himself form his family and friends. The day after the incident, strange people came to his door and explained to him what he was and that he needed to go with them to a place called The Hammel Institute. At first, he refused, since he was afraid and did not know who they were, but he was not given a choice and kept from using his powers to defend himself. Against his and his family's will, he was taken to Hammel where he has been ever since.

When he got there, his attitude was still bitter towards those who dragged him to the school, but he was somewhat grateful to be learning some control over the powers he feared. Although he was somewhat in control of his powers now through these lessons, consisting solely on avoidance of certain circumstances, he knew himself to be still incredibly dangerous. However, thanks to the support of his family, new friends, and teachers, he grew determined to earn his way out of Hammel.

Thyme was shocked at the realization of what he was and that he was not the only one. It was a huge relief really, and it felt much like a new start. Thyme felt like a new person, and he became much more sociable and charming than his shy, distant 12 year-old self. Now, he's just working his way through the struggles of puberty and trying to find a sense of normalcy that he has not had since his powers formed.

Roleplay Example

Four years. Four long years since he arrived here at The Hammel Institute, and he felt only slightly more in control of his powers than before. On a positive note, he could touch people regularly now without hurting them, but whenever his emotions got out of hand, he felt powerless to stop himself. Fortunately there had been no serious incidents. Thyme had been much more likely to shock himself rather than someone else due to his extreme cautiousness, and the teachers had always been helpful with calming him down when necessary.

Thyme didn't have many friends yet, since he was so isolated at first from others, but now things were beginning to change and he found himself flocking towards people more and more every day. The teen missed his family and was counting the days until he could return home for Christmas and lie in his own bed. However, there was still much work to do in both school and training if he ever wanted the chance of having his freedom back.

He despised his own existence, and he wished for nothing more than to go back to when his life was normal, but he knew this was impossible. There was no turning back now, and he had no choice but to move forward. Ty sighed. This was going to suuuuck.

Not Quite

This is a good start, but it needs a bit of work, particularly the history. Please make sure you have read all the threads linked in the joining guide, especially this section of the FAQ. Note that students don't find Hammel, Hammel finds the students, generally within two weeks of their power manifesting. Less time than that if he shocked someone.

I like the core personality, but I would like to see it fleshed out just a little bit more. You don't need paragraphs more, but as it stands there are some parts that are a bit vague. I understand that he's an insecure person who attempts to exude a more dominant, confident personality than is natural for him. In his appearance you state that he isn't as good at hiding his true feelings as he wants to be, but in the personality it says he comes off as self-confident so I would like a little clarification there.

And as for his devotion to other people, does his insecurity make him clingy towards those he allows into his inner circle? Or does he continue to hold even them at arm's length? Or does he cling to people while not really allowing them to give him the emotional support he needs? Does he rush into decisions out of a desire to prove to himself or other people that he's self-confident and fun, or is that innate rather than part of his mask?

Still Not Quite

Allow me to clarify my original remark on Ty's history: Two weeks from his power manifesting would be two weeks after he knocked the power out of his school. Hammel has Meta trackers and detectors on staff and an event that big would have nearly knocked a newly-manifested Meta unconscious. If Hammel didn't come the next day, they would have come soon after as any hospitalization would result in a blood test to confirm Meta genes.

He'd still be accidentally shocking people at Hammel if that's an angle that's important to you; a lot of people take years to learn proper control over their powers. But they would have found him after the first incident.
