Up, Up, Up (Open)

(we'll say this takes place on a Friday)

For some people, Friday evenings meant parties, reveling that the weekend was nigh with drink and dance and reckless behavior.

Amber had decided to spend the evening by the lakeside.

It was nice out; overcast, with a breeze that cut the otherwise unbearable humidity to a tolerable level. There was a possibility of rain, and if that happened he would be drenched by the time he reached Hammel, but that was a chance he was willing to take.

Rain would be expected.

What wasn't expected was a balloon vendor. He had seen ice cream trucks, and even a hot dog cart once, but never a balloon vendor. Not that he objected; he loved balloons.

But then, who didn't?

Surely the only reason there weren't more people crowded around the balloon vendor was the weather; there weren't many people out at all, too afraid of being rained on. But that was perfectly okay, as that meant that he was soon the proud owner of not one, but four balloons: Red, green, blue and yellow.

"Sweet!" He exclaimed to himself, bouncing along the lake with the balloons, watching with admiration as they waved in the breeze.

Ah, Friday. For countless people it meant partying and Ray wanted to be a part of that group. He wanted to go, have a good time and be social. The thing was, he couldn't drink very much.
Whenever Ray got drunk in the past, random teleportations ensued. Imagine; one second, you're in a house, people all around. The next you're in a dark forest, drunk. It's not considered a
fun time by any means.

After a few minutes of deliberation, he decided to get a milkshake from the mall and spend some time at the lake.

After a quick teleportation to the food court in the mall, ray teleported to the entrance to the lake.
A quick look around revealed cloudy skies - which never really matter to a teleporter -, a girl with a balloon and- what is this? A balloon stand!? Right away Ray ran to the stand. "Two please," He said as he held up his
occupied hand and lifted up 2 fingers to the balloon vendor while sticking his other hand in his left pocket, rustling around for his wallet. Ray loved balloons for some
unknown reason. He can seem to meditate to the movements of it bobbing around while blowing in the wind.

Ray had different plans for these balloons, though. The second he saw the balloons Ray subconsciously decided it was a night for training, over the lake this time.

Turning around, he realized he was almost directly behind the balloon girl. he walked around to her side so she could see him. "I love balloons."

(Welcome back!)

Amber wasn't expecting anyone to appear in front of him, and so when Ray stepped around him, he backed away in shock. However, the other boy seemed friendly, particularly given that he was also carrying balloons.

Amber immediately decided that they were friends.

"Balloons are awesome." He agreed, glancing up at the two in Ray's hands. "I'm Amber, by the way. You look familiar....do you go to Hammel?"

Perhaps they had classes together; that would explain why there was that nagging familiarity. Or perhaps he had just seen Ray round town; that was also a possibility. However, with anyone remotely in his age range he tended to assume they knew one another from school.

Automatically, Ray moved back when the girl in front of him did, surprised by her being surprised. He just smiled and let out a small chuckle when she agreed with him. "Amber, I'm Ray. It's nice to meet you. Yea, I'm from hammel," he said while taking his first good look at her face. she's...cute.
Ray didn't feel much like flirting or anything today, though. He'd just be himself.

After taking a quick suck on his milkshake he added, "I don't think I've ever seen you around, though." Ray knew he hadn't seen her face before, his photographic memory and proficiency in remembering faces ensuring that.

"Hey, I wonder. What do you, well, do? I teleport."

Amber wasn't too offended that Ray didn't recognize him; he certainly spent a great deal of his time with Ariel and Alison and their fantasies. And Kevin, too; the younger boy was fun to be around.

"Oh! Teleportation. That's cool." He scrunched up his face in annoyance at how lame his own power was in comparison. "I just turn into a spider. I would way rather be able to teleport!"

"Yeah, it has it's uses," Ray said before taking a sip of his now almost empty shake. When Amber mentioned turning into a spider, he imagined a life-size spider. "That is Awesome! Do you into like a huge spider?"Ray moved his hands to either side, trying to make a visual of something big with them.

Moving his hands back to his side, he dropped - or let go - of his balloon. In a few seconds it was twenty, thirty, forty feet in the air and going up quickly.

Ray looked down from the balloon to Amber. "Excuse me for a second," he said as he looked up to his balloon. Looking up, he imagined himself there and clicked that little teleporting part of his mind on. Instantly, he was just above the balloon. Falling towards it, he grabbed the string and teleported back onto the ground, a few inches away from his original spot.

"Sorry about that," He said to amber, turning around toward her. "I almost lost my balloon."
