Vincent Meian is a powers trainer at Hammel. He arrived in August 2012 with his family in Pilot Ridge after completing transfer requirements, enabling him to continue teaching after leaving Eisai Gakko and ultimately Japan. He has recently returned from an extended leave of absence, and is eager to return to his work. He is 46, married, has two daughters, and has studied philosophy and religion/mythos extensively.
Students: Being that Vincent is a powers trainer, he needs students to teach. Any student is fine, though he specializes in emotive powers like his own. Any power is fine, but he prefers powers such as:
~pyro/tele/cryo/aero/whatever-kinetics
~illusions
~weather manipulation
~force/energy manipulation
These powers have a strong tendency towards being emotive, and thus he is well equipped towards handling them. Handling the student themselves, however, is another story.
Current Students:
Harmony Muller-Barton
Clement Evans
Jesse Adams
Former Students: (This includes retired characters.)
Sam Rixon - Graduated
Lucy Serrano - Graduated
Adaryn Breslin - Graduated
Koty Hura
Friends/Co-Workers: While he doesn't go out of his way to make friends, Vincent does enjoy having them, especially since all of the ones of his past are either in Japan or out of touch in other ways. He speaks easily to other teachers, and people with similar hobbies (though finding them is often out-of-his-way and so he doesn't try to look)
Friends/Amicable Co-Workers: (This includes retired characters.)
Dr. Sean Neville
Kateri Rivera
Enemies: Vincent is kind of stand-offish and cool towards people he doesn't really know and very professional at work, giving him a sort of cold air. This causes a few disconcerting moments, but rarely anything serious. On the other hand, anyone who is anti-military, anti-meta, or a meta-supremacist could easily find themselves on the other end of his training (though rarely his powers). He tends to have some very serious views on crime and punishment as well, and while he's not a vigilante, he's been known to dole out equal retribution for a conceived slight.
He has a few enemies from back in Japan, though he has mostly forgotten all of them by now.
Enemies/Unfriendly Co-Workers/Hostile Students:
Family: This WANTED thread can be found here and has more extensive information.
Family Members at Hammel: (This includes retired characters.)
Dr. Nakia Kenjutsushi (wife)
Appoline Meian (daughter)
Romance: Vincent is married and loves his wife dearly, therefore is not really looking for any other romantic involvement. That being said, he is pansexual and poly-romantic, so minor hidden crushes and the occasional subtle flirting is not beyond him (especially if he drinks a little too much). One-sided crushes are acceptable as well, as he can be completely clueless when someone is "giving him signs".
Romantic Status: Married
Nakia "Nik" Kenjutsushi is a doctor practicing as a nurse at Hammel Institute, having transferred from a Japanese general hospital when her family moved. She is Vincent's wife of 23 years, 42 years old, mother of two, and is a cool and calculating product of her field.
Patients: Every doctor has patients, some of whom appreciate their physician and some of whom do not. While she is little more than a school nurse now, Nik still retains her medical license and all of its benefits. Anyone needing regular physicals, examinations, or prescriptions is just as important to her as those who need immediate medical attention.
Co-Workers: Unlike her husband, Nik rarely makes friends at work due to the necessity of distancing herself from patients. She gained the moniker Koorina-o, or "Lady Ice" from her previous hospital due to her implacable calm and seeming lack of empathy with her patients and co-workers. Despite the fact that she cares for her patients dearly, her mentality requires the separation of emotions from powers and so the name stuck. Despite rarely needing her powers anymore, she is still as cool and regal as always at work, so her professional relationships may or may not improve.
Amicable Coworkers: (This includes retired characters.)
Dr. Sean Neville
Friends and Neighbors: Outside of work, Nik is a sweet woman capable of many feats of hospitality and generosity. She gets along with people easily and will talk with nearly anyone (provided that they have something intelligent to say). She currently knows very few people in Pilot Ridge, and the need for companionship outside her family is pretty strong.
Friends/Acquaintances: (This includes retired characters.)
Enemies: As if being a doctor and a meta weren't enough to get her into trouble, Nik's cold and slightly abrasive personality when working can cause no small amount of strife with ex-patients or their families. She doesn't generally care about people's feelings during her work, so people are often out to excise her from the medical community. So far, nothing has held up against her exemplary record of recovery, but one never knows...
Family: See above
Romance: Nik is happily married, and does not share her husband's open views. While she is not the jealous type to get irritated at his mildly flirty ways, she is steadfast in her loyalty. A one-sided crush or an aggressive suitor would be hilarious, but outside romance is mostly a no for this character.
Romantic Status: Married
Appoline is a cripplingly shy transfer student at Hammel, who is self-loathing for a number of reasons besides that. She's a pretty accepting girl with other people, though, provided that they can get past her shell. Appoline is 19, oldest daughter of Vincent and Nakia, and a quirk of genetics who wants only to be normal.
Friends: Appoline needs them. She is horribly shy and cloistered, and though her interests are pretty varied she rarely shows them to anyone. Assertive people are a must in her life, though other shy people who can relate to her are also acceptable. Anyone with an appreciation for art or gymnastics used to have an immediate "in" with her, but recently she's been incredibly more distant and prickly.
Friends/Classmates: (This includes retired characters.)
Amos Freeman
Lucy Serrano
Enemies/Rivals: Despite being so shy she can barely make friends, Appoline's been picked on before simply for being different. Granted, that's mostly due to the nature of Japan's culture, but she still expects it from other students. A bully would be something interesting to bring into the mix, though even a rival for a teacher/trainer's attention would more than suffice.
Current Hostilities: (This includes retired characters.)
Family: As listed above
Romance: Appoline has an unexplored sexuality, mostly because she views her genes as cursed and doesn't even want to think about passing them on to another generation. That is not to say that a relationship is not feasible - quite the contrary, I would very much enjoy a budding romantic relationship over her time at Hammel. Any and all sexualities will be accepted for exploration.
Romantic Status: Single
Niko is the 23 year-old middle child of the Gallo-Jones trio of kiddies here at Hammel. He's a carefree and cheerful individual who enjoys nothing more than talking to people and spending time with his family. He has a skill in sketching buildings, but despite his passion for it, he has little faith in his mathematical expertise and doesn't have much urge to go back to college or apply himself further.
Friends: Niko is friends with just about everyone he meets. He's a sociable and friendly, with a good amount of generosity and general happiness as useful personality traits. He laughs readily, and will do anything to make someone feel comfortable around him.
Current Friends:
Ceri McKay
Andi Thalis
Enemies: He... doesn't really have them. As a protective brother, he might not get along with some of his sister ex's or current SO's, but he's not an inherently angry of jealous person. Someone would have to do a lot to get under his skin.
Enemies:
None currently
Romance: Despite his very open personality, Niko doesn't really have much interest in relationships that extend beyond friends. It may be because he likes the simple pleasures in life, or he may not be willing to commit to someone when he has a love for wandering the world, but for some reason a steady dating scene doesn't really suit him. Neither do one-night stands or sex-friends; he's just not that type of person.
Romantic Status: Single - not dating
Work:Niko is now working for Joshua Bernstien as an intern at his law office. He likes his job a lot and has a great deal of fun with it despite being in a pretty rigid time schedule. He gets along with his coworkers, and is generally very happy to be there.
Co-workers:
Joshua Bernstien (Boss)
Janice Adams (Boss)
Damien Tremblay
Lyn is a powerful woman who transferred back to Pilot Ridge after almost forty years of practicing law in New York City. She's quick-tempered, has a snap judgement of people, and adores children like you wouldn't believe. She currently works under the District Attorney, so if any metahumans get into trouble you know she's going to be on their case.
Friends: The majority of Lyn's friends are either from her days at Hammel and she tends not to make them easily. She can be friendly, but is usually curt and business-like with all of her co-workers and people around town. If you can crack through and make her laugh, you have a foot in the door towards being part of a very exclusive club.
Friends:
Dr. Sean Neville
Maggie Thompson (outside Pilot Ridge)
Joshua Bernstien (tangently)
Mike Batista
Enemies/Rivals: Lyn is a prosecutor that deals mostly in low to moderate-profile metahuman cases. She makes enemies regularly for that alone, and her predatory demeanor tends to make people frightened of her as well (even if she's only 5'3"). However, she has plenty of rivalries with attorneys as well, so if someone you know practices law, we'll have some interesting debates going on. Additionally, Lyn is an active member against PUSE in the community, choosing to work with other meta-friendly causes against such an organization. This can get her some unfriendly glances from others siding with PUSE.
Rivalries:
Joshua Bernstien (working together for the time being)
Joe Honnick
Stewart Allen
Family: Lyn is an only child and her parents are elderly, so there isn't much in the way of blood relations. However, the woman has a soft spot for young children (since she can't have any on her own), and living in Pilot Ridge may give her more time to think about adopting despite her age.
Family:
None currently
Romance: If you can make it work, this'll be hilariously fun. Lyn has given up on the idea of being married mostly because of a) her personality, an b) her power. Those who aren't very much pushed away tend to be weirdly interested and that leads to a slew of problems. But it would be interesting to see people flirting with an older and veryfurrypowerful woman.
Romantic Status: Single - not dating
Navi has just arrived here at Hammel as a student after being trapped inside a computer tower by her powers. She's 13 years old, her father lives and works in New York, and she's probably one of the smartest teens you'll encounter.
Friends: Friends are something Navi doesn't really have trouble making, provided people can get over her generally innocent know-it-all attitude. Having been raised by a computer programmer, she's a wiz with anything electronic, not to mention a stellar student who spends most of her free time playing educational software. Just bear in mind that she always puts her learning first, and you probably won't have a problem.
Current Friends/Classmates:
Benny Barrett
Enemies/Rivals: As much as she tries to be a generally friendly person, being a brainiac can get you on people's bad side pretty quickly, especially if an intellectual view is given unwanted. Navi has a tendency to make a friendly competition into a rivalry when it comes to academics, and it's part of the reason why she's such a good student but why she can be viewed as a brat as well. She also has some pretty strong views against drugs and gang violence, considering the recent loss of her mother. As a final note, she can be pretty preachy if you get her onto the subject of her religion, which will annoy the crap out of most people.
Current Hostilities:
Harmony Muller-Barton
Family: Navi's only family that matters to her now is her father, Jack Holmes - an African-American software programmer working in New York City this time around. He's a codifier as well as emulator, and his work gets him shifted around the country quite a bit. This character is currently unavailable for active roleplay.
Romance: As typical for a thirteen-year-old, Navi is currently not looking for any sort of romantic relationship. She is a bit of a technophile, though, so anyone that shares her love of computers and the internet will probably be the base of a mild crush (this could extend to teachers, but in general she knows better).
Wayne is a self-described grumpy old man, but he's got a good sense of humor and likes people in general. He can be a bit of a spitfire, and he doesn't always know when to quit, but his heart's in the right place. He's 86 years old, widowed with a daughter and two granddaughters to his legacy, and an expert mechanical engineer and linguist.
Friends/Co-Workers: Most of Wayne's friends are simply acquaintances he's met around town or his co-workers. A number of his friends from the past (both Air Force and otherwise) are long since dead, and while he does like having people around to chat with, he can be a little distant sometimes. But his friendly nature tends to overcome most obstacles in the end, even to the point of making friends with the student's he's recruited.
Friends/Amicable Co-Workers & Students:
Dr. Sean Neville
Evie Miller
Clement Evans
River Tsung
Jason Prowler
Enemies: Whoo can this bad boy get some. Wayne's temper is pretty level, but he does tend to jump into other people's business when he thinks people are going to get hurt otherwise. That and his gruff nature can rub people the wrong way, in addition to his very firm moral values. He's not a preacher, but he does hold people to a pretty high standard, which can make some students mighty annoyed with him.
Enemies:
None Currently
Family: Wayne has little in the way of family left, given that his wife has passed away and his daughter lives with her husband in Germany. However, he does have room in his heart and home for another child or two to run around, provided his granddaughters are enthused with the idea.
Family Members at Hammel:
Kamillia Engel (granddaughter)
Jan-di Chu (granddaughter)
Romance: Ever since Wayne's wife passed away, he's been very uninterested in any sort of love life at all. Perhaps being too old has something to do with it, or loving his wife too much, but the reality is that Wayne's asexual. Any romantic relationship would be entirely superficial and involve simple companionship and nothing more.
Romantic Status: Widowed - not dating
Ricky is a genial fellow with lots of interesting stories to tell. He's a bad luck magnet and works at Hammel mostly because it makes him feel normal some days (just kidding - he loves his job). Despite having a job that seems designed for the introverted, however, he's quite easy-going and very personable. He's 48 years old, single, and a wonderful ball of Irish humor and math puns.
Friends/Co-Workers: Ricky can make friends with damn near anyone and will do so gladly. He's not the most memorable person unless someone sees him in the midst of one of his "bad luck trips", but he's always a fun person to talk to. He's also the kind of guy that just about anyone can sit down and have a beer with, and if you love sports you're into the right fellow.
Friends/Amicable Co-Workers:
Thomas Legrand
Kateri Rivera
Mike Batista
Enemies: While not a very easy guy to make mad or even rile up at all, Ricky does have a penchant for causing minor disasters wherever he goes. Sometimes, this ends well - sometimes not so much. Sometimes, it leads to bar fights or other forms of distaste towards the well-being of his person. That being said, there's probably a couple people in Pilot Ridge who set their jaws and brace for impact whenever Ricky O'Cassidy walks by.
Enemies:
None currently
Family: RICKY'S FAMILY IS ENORMOUS. That being said, there are literally a TON of people that share his family name, let alone are related by marriage or some other such family tie. If you want to play someone related (even distantly) to him, Ricky's more than happy to put up with family for as long as it takes. Because hey; that's what family does.
Family Members at Hammel:
None... yet.
Romance: Ricky had a fiance once, but she broke off their engagement after they'd been together for three years. It was a whirlwind thing, and he still cares about her, but he's more than moved on since then. After all, it was fifteen years ago. He's straight as an arrow and more than willing to provide for a family, so if you're interested, be sure that kids are in your future.
Romantic Status: Single
Possible Interests: Kateri Rivera
This list is a complete list of ALL of my characters, active and not. As I get back into the flow of things, some of them will come back. Others may not.
If a character is Retired, they have not been updated to current canon. Once they are active again, they'll be edited, but for now, let's just focus on those still with us.
