[Patch Diaz]

It was a long day, Patch ended up getting an 80 percent on his test and he convinced himself it was the blonde boys fault. If he could have just sat there and worked on studying, he would have been farther ahead. Yet, the encounter stayed with him on another note too. He had fun arguing during the last part, he might have even gotten under the guys skin. But it was the end of the day, and he had come here to relax.

Ding ding ding ding ding..

He was doing pretty good on the pinball machine, scoring up points left and right. A broad grin spread across his face as he beat his high score. The only time he even took his hands off the machine was when he topped to run a hand through his hair, he was enjoying himself. When the last ball finally fell back into the machine pocket and the game was over, he stood back and took a deep breath. He felt like swimming, but he was tired, so he moved off over to one of the comfy chairs in the lounge and sat down. No one he knew was around, so he leaned back and stared up toward the ceiling. He didn't even get the guys name. Stop that.

He couldn't help think about it though, he didn't mean to burn the guy, even if he was being an ass. He still blamed him for his math grade remaining a C+, but he probably wouldn't ever see him again, right? He hoped not.

"Let's see..." Rhett said as he sat next to Patch. "Patch Zaid Diaz," Rhett read from an ID in his hand. "sixteen years old, Texan," The blonde looked at Patch's face. "hmm, wouldn't have guessed that one."

He placed the ID to in the wallet he held in his other hand, specifically, Patch's wallet. Rhett had pickpocketed it as the boy was busy paying attention to the pinball machine. It had been easy, not only Rhett was a master pickpocketer, but things targets were particularly easier to rob when they're focused on an activity such as playing a game. Heck, Patch probably hadn't notice his wallet wasn't in his pocket up until Rhett waved it in front of him after reading out loud from the Texan boy's ID.

"Library card," He started examining the wallet's inventory. "Burger King discount card," He continued. "Tattoo parlor place," He looked at Patch. "you have one?" He shrugged and continued. "Taco Bell number, McDonald number..." He now checked the place where the money goes. "Ten dollars? That's it?" Rhett exhaled strongly and closed the wallet, throwing it at Patch's lap. "Well, that was one boring wallet."

A small sigh left Patch's lips and he reclined further into his seat, he was enjoying himself and actually began to relax. "Let's see..." Imedietly Patch's form stiffened, it was the blonde haired boy who has harased him in the Library, now he was back. "Patch Zaid Diaz." Ok so now he knew his last name.. but how? Patch quickly found out when he looked toward the blonde boy, who was now sitting next to him. He had a wallet.. his wallet, and he was reading from it. "Sixteen years old, Texan, hmm, wouldn't have guessed that one." The blonde boy was now studying Patch, and instantly Patch wanted to hurt him, burn him again, why did he let the boy get under his skin like that?

He continued to dig through his wallet now examining its contents. Patch was to stunned by the boys nerve to do anything about it. "Library card, Burger King discount card, Tattoo parlor place.." Then he looked toward Patch. "You have one?" he asked, and Patch felt his face burning bright red. "Taco Bell number, McDonald number..." Then he moved on to his money. "Ten dollars? That's it?" The blonde boy sighed and dropped the wallet on his lap, hitting a spot that made Patch flinch. "Well, that was one boring wallet."

"I... don't know what to say." Patch admitted, looking over toward the boy with disdain, his face still burning from the tattoo remark. he hard learned so much about him in such a little time.

"Then don't say anything." Rhett shrugged.

The boy firmly believed that when you didn't have anything intelligent or contributing to say, it was better not to say anything. "Better to be king of your silence than slave of your words" was pretty much a life motto to him. He knew that whatever he said could and would be used against me. For Rhett, life is a war, and conversations are a mean to get intelligence and advantages against your adversaries. People like Rhett, they looked at everyone like adversaries. He had no friends, no allies, he was alone, and he knew it was better not to trust people, only because he knew that he himself wasn't trustworthy either.

But he was a nice guy, wasn't him? Or trying to anyway. He did give the wallet back, after all.

"So," Rhett raised an eyebrow. "do you? Do you have a tattoo?" He shrugged. "Don't answer if you don't want to, though. It's just a matter of time before I learn the answer to my own question anyway."

Patch watched the room, no one to escape to, the only person in here he had ever talked to was the blonde haired boy. Just leaving would concede some type of defeat Patch refused to give. He hated it."Then don't say anything."Offered the blonde boy to his previous statement, shrugging a bit as he spoke. What was his problem? Was he a target? Or was he being punked by fellow classmates.

This guy had to have had some sort of social disorder. Or he was just obnoxious, maybe that was his power, being obnoxious.

"So, do you? Do you have a tattoo?" Asked the blonde haired boy, he seemed sincere enough. Maybe there were some things he didn't know after all."Don't answer if you don't want to, though. It's just a matter of time before I learn the answer to my own question anyway."He added, probably just trying to un-nerve Patch, but there was the aching feeling that he knew a lot more about him that Patch wasn't yet aware of. So, he decided to play it back on him, trying to bring his burning face back under control.

"Wouldn't you like to know?" He asked, completely unsure of the boys sexual disposition, but he didn't care. "How about you give me your name?" He asked, he wanted to give a name to the face that was the reason why he got a C on his math test.

Any double entendre Patch's question had, flew past Rhett. Knowing was a big and serious deal to Rhett, and it hardly had to do with anything sexual. Knowledge was a weapon. Rhett did want to know, but Patch had to be kidding if he thought that Rhett was desperate enough for learning about the tattoo like to barter with information.

"A wolf paw." Rhett winked at Patch. "Sorry, you're just... playing my game." He smiled slightly. "Sorry for your C as well, it may have been my fault."

He wasn't really sorry. The time and impulse Rhett lost due to his encounter with Patch, not to mention the book he seemingly lost after it, made him get a C in his essay as well. Well, honestly, Patch barely had anything to do with it, the problem his essay had was with Rhett's inability to express well writing, something his teacher even mentioned himself. The boy was good speaking, he managed to get his point across when telling the teacher what he thought of Romeo & Juliet, he just wasn't as eloquent when writing. Still, he blamed Patch anyway.

"Got any other test soon I should know about?" He nodded. "So I can mess them up as well, I'm a bit bored."

"A wolf paw." Damn. Patch's cheeks were stained dark red at the invasion of privacy and the intimate knowledge of what it was. How did he know? Has he seen him swimming before? Was he just some kind of freaky stalker that was now brave enough to go up to him and talk to him? What ever it was, he didn't like it, him knowing about all of these things. Now that must be his power, or he would need to get a restraining order. "Sorry, you're just... playing my game." Patch was close to burning him again. "Sorry for your C as well, it may have been my fault." This time, what he said wasn't sincere, Patch just knew it.

"Got any other test soon I should know about?" He asked, bobbing his head in a slight nod. Patch didn't know what the guy's problem was, but he had to keep cool. "So I can mess them up as well, I'm a bit bored." He added. at that, Patch leaned closer to him.

"Yeah, on my right shoulder blade." He stated, aiming his back toward the boy before pulling up his shirt past his neck, showing off the tattoo and the rest of his back before pulling his shirt back down. "Is that all you wanted?" Patch asked, slouching back into his chair.

"I know." Rhett said as the boy confirmed the tattoo's place.

He was not expecting, though, to be shown. Nonetheless, he leaned and took a look at it. If there was anything Rhett would change about his ability, would be to add being able to see things besides just knowing them. Rhett knew how the tattoo looked, for example, but it was no different than it being described with words. Seeing it was a completely different thing, and Rhett more than appreciated having the tattoo showed to him, even if it raised more questions than it did answers.

Up until now, he thought Patch was being bothered by Rhett, he thought that the Texan boy had him in his blacklist, but why would he show him the tattoo then? Not to mention he quite liked what he managed to saw through the shirt's neck, maybe there was more to this guy than it met the eye, two facts that drew even more of Rhett's attention now.

Rhett was interested.

"I want a lot of things," Rhett accommodated back in his seat. "so no, not really." Rhett decided it was time to learn more about Patch. "What do you want?"

"I know." Rhett said. Patch tried to act like he wasn't un-nerved by that.


"I want a lot of things, so no, not really." Rhett responded after taking his dear sweet time looking at his back, Patch smiled inwardly at that. Maybe, just Maybe he had him in a little game too. "What do you want?" Asked the blonde boy, and he wasn't sure if he already knew the answer, but was just asking for his sake. That was the thing, maybe he was a telepath, or maybe he ran into memories. He wasn't sure, but he wasn't going to ask either.

"Well." Patch began, looking towards the boy as he adjusted himself back into a comfortable position in his chair. "How about you tell me your name, and how you know so much about me. besides me being sixteen and being from Texas. That was on the ID card, so that was easy." Patch responded, casting a curious gaze on him. He needed to know his name anyway, otherwise he would just be the faceless guy that he would never run into, unless it was on the blonde boys own time.

Rhett raised an eyebrow at Patch. He had intended his question to be more general but he wasn't letting go of not knowing Rhett's name plus a little more. It was understandable, though. Rhett had laid out the things he knew of Patch, and had hinted that he knew more, a couple of times now, anyone would be curious. The problem was, though, that Patch was underestimating Rhett, and the blonde was going to correct that.

"True." Rhett nodded. "But truth is that knowing about John, Matt, Mandy, Carly, the jelly fishes and your hydrophobia wasn't actually hard either."

For a moment there, Rhett felt a little bad about the position he was putting Patch in. The boy was in complete disadvantage next to Rhett, but truth was, that it wasn't his fault really. As Rhett had said it himself, he just happened to be playing Rhett's game. In his court and with his rule, so it was natural the blonde had all the advantage. Then again, Rhett could make things easier by just telling Patch his name and about his ESP, but what was the point in that?

"You'll have to offer something more amusing if you want to earn that information." Rhett teased. "In the meantime, who makes up a middle name by writing your last name backwards? So unoriginal, but at least it's not your first name."

"True, but truth is that knowing about John, Matt, Mandy, Carly, the jelly fishes and your hydrophobia wasn't actually hard either." He couldn't believe it. This boy was clearly out to hurt him. How dare he bring up John.. his dad, his hydrophobia, his fears and accidents. His curious brown eyed gaze took a dangerous turn to extremely serious. He was an awful person, he seemed like he knew what he was talking about.. so he must have known his actual father John had died. He knew about the jelly fish incident and his fear of water. Worst of all, he made Patch feel like he was an open book, stupid, and vulnerable.


"You'll have to offer something more amusing if you want to earn that information." Continued the boy. "In the meantime, who makes up a middle name by writing your last name backwards? So unoriginal, but at least it's not your first name." Patch swung his fist out at the boy, but changed its path during mid swing so it hit the chair next to him. He was shocked at what he did.. what the blonde boy made him do for the second time. When he pulled his fist away from the upholstery, it was burnt and flaking, releasing the smell of burnt cloth into the room.

"Don't you ever talk about my Dad again." He warned, in a very quiet voice. He felt like curling up in a ball and crying from frustration, he even felt his eyes misting up, but he didn't look at the blonde boy after that. Patch grabbed his wallet from his lap and stood up, then he walked silently out of the lounge, avoiding stares from other students.

Rhett saw the punch coming from far away. Clearly, Patch was not a fighter and didn't know the right way to throw a punch, it had far too much pullback, giving Rhett enough time to see it and avoid it. But the blonde didn't move. He was confident and he saw the punch land in the seat and start burning. He looked down and it and then back at Patch's face. Both his fist and his eyes were burning, and it wasn't until he felt the smell than Rhett actually started fearing a bit. But he was confident, Patch wasn't going to touch him, if he wanted to, he had already done it.

The younger boy's words made Rhett blink rapidly. Rhett didn't even know who the names he mentioned were to Patch, he only knew that they were of importance to him, so he had no idea one of them was his dad, and even less, he had no idea why his mention made Patch like this. Rhett wished to know and used the small moment before Patch stood up and left to focus his ESP into the boy, but his questions weren't answered. Instead, he only saw Patch leave lounge ready to burn everything in his path.

"It's Rhett." He muttered to himself as he moved away from the burn mark Patch had left.
