Transformation Sequence (Belle)

As usual Amber was attempting homework in the student lounge instead of in the dorm. He was fairly certain that Dr. Neville would suggest he spend the time in his dorm, where he wouldn't be distracted by all the people; however, the only way that he could motivate himself to perform even what little bit of studying he did was to surround himself with other people.

He yawned as he idly flipped through his history book, barely absorbing the information written on the pages. Somehow the words seemed to float in front of his eyes, refusing to come together in any coherent manner.

That was when he heard it.

A buzzing to his left.

There shouldn't have been buzzing inside. Inside was supposed to be devoid of buzzing things.

Slowly his eyes were dragged towards the buzzing, to see a wasp hovering over a nearby table.

Crash!

History book fell to the floor as the student holding it shrank with a frightened yelp, transforming into a zipper spider and skittering up the sofa he had been sitting on, looking down from what was now a dizzying height to the floor.

No, no, no, no, not a wasp.

And to make matters worse, someone could squish him.

Belle made her way into the student lounge, at this point her studying had not been completed and she needed to get it done as soon as she possibly could. Normally, Belle would never study in such a public place but she felt her life missed social interactions so she figured that even if she didn't talk to anyone, she would still be around another human being.

Entering the student lounge Belle noticed that there was only one other student there, another girl about her age, whom she had seen around before but never spoken to.

Finding a spot in the corner Belle's eyes would occasionally glance over at the other girl presence. Should she go over there and be friendly? Belle thought to herself, when her train of thought was broken by the sound of a heavy book crashing to the floor.

Getting up Belle quickly made her way to the sound and realized that she was now alone. Looking around, Belle shrugged and picked up the book, "I g-guess she h-had to leave q-q-quickly," she spoke quietly to herself as she placed the book onto the couch in hopes the owner would come back later to find it.

That's when she noticed the spider on the couch and her mood brightened, "oooh, y-y-you're beautiful!" Belle exclaimed as she placed her hand down in hopes the spider would climb on. "Hmm... I-I've n-never seen a sp-spider like y-you before," she spoke softly in hopes of not startling it.

"It's o-o-okay," Belle said softly as she gently helped the spider into her hand with her other hand. "I w-w-won't hurt you."

Amber's first instinct when Belle approached was to inch backwards, but to no avail; the other student was too large and swift, and had soon scooped him up into her hand.

It was, however, quickly apparent that she was no threat, both between her words of assurance and her actions. If spiders could breathe sighs of relief Amber would have done so.

From the palm of her hand he cautiously clambered up her arm; even though she seemed to be oddly fond of spiders he didn't want to startle her. Startled humans were dangerous, and he wanted to be as reassuring to her as she had been to him. Look at how harmless he was!

Well, relatively harmless; he wasn't going to bite her, anyway.

Belle giggled as the spider started to climb up her arm, "Where are you going?" she continued to giggle as the spider continued to climb. Finally, when it stopped and rested on her shoulder, Belle made her way back to her spot in the corner.

"I-I-I w-wonder what kind o-of sp-spider you are," Belle said quietly to the spider as the two moved through the student lounge. She couldn't wait to finish studying and go back to her room, to look through her bug book.

Placing her hand by her shoulder like a small platform, Belle waited for the tiny spider to climb on so she could put it onto the table. "Y-y-you'll be s-safe o-over here," she with a smile, before sitting down and continuing her studying.
