Similar Interests (Eric)

It was a start contrast but it was part of her all the same. Marie Ennis liked to drink. And not in the most responsible way.

She was sitting at the bar on her own. Normally she was with other people and she planned some kind of outing around whoever was keen, but this night was the kind of one where she was confident enough to just go out on her own. She'd already had a few drinks but in no way was this girl a lightweight; after drinking frequently enough a tolerance is generally built up, after all.

But she was nearing the end of her drink, and she frowned into the glass. Marie looked up from her position and signaled to the barkeep to get their attention. But someone else had her attention first...

Eric was not the sort to be by himself at a bar. Drinking alone was something you did... well, you didn't do it much. A few beers with dinner, maybe, but then he... Actually, Eric thought, as he looked down at the empty tumbler and swirled it so the ice cubes clacked together, it was totally fine to drink by himself. To have many drinks.

"I'll need another one," he said in the general direction of the bar, looking up. A flash of blonde hair caught his eye and Eric turned with a resigned look on his face. So many blondes making trouble.... but this wasn't his little sister (of course it wasn't, Eric. She's underage) or the girl who had just hurt his little sister's feelings (also underage, maybe you don't need that refill)...

"Can I buy you a drink?" he asked suddenly, offering a charming grin. Drinking alone was fine, but drinking with attractive women was so much better. "Don't tell me you're here by yourself, I'll have a hard time believing you."

Marie looked a little way down the bar at the guy who had just ordered. She interestingly gave him the once over because charm was practically falling out of his every pore. She took the second or so to weigh up her options as she stared down into the emptiness of her now diminished drink. Well, if he was giving her the attention of the person behind the bar, how could she say no?

She looked to his glass before tapping the edge of the bar and holding two fingers up. Still, she grinned in his direction as he spoke again and offered a vaguely interested look. "I am."

Two wonderfully not empty glasses had been pushed back to them, and Eric was thankful he'd already set up a tab. It made the transactions so much easier. "You have excellent taste," he said with an approving nod at her glass, before raising his own to her then taking a sip.

"Want some company?" he asked finally. Usually, there would be time for smooth lines and slow hints, but honestly Eric wasn't in the mood. Up close, she looked to be a little older than him, but that was good. He could do with a... mature perspective. "Or are you the lonesome type?" his smile grew a little crooked.

Marie chuckled when he spoke again. She raised her glass in conjunction with him and gave it the slightest tilt in his direction before taking a sip; "Glad I won your approval." She finally replied. It was at least good to see someone else enjoying the finer qualities of alcohol.

"God no. Not the lonesome type." She repeated, smirking at the very thought as she shook her head. Finally she got up and actually crossed the distance though, so that she was sitting beside him against the bar as opposed to a few seats away. "You look a little down. You're not drowning your sorrows, are you?" Because doing it alone could be bad. So he might as well find company in another blonde.
