((Continuation of One Step Closer

The walk back to the dorm had been nice. Both teens were back to their fun, slightly weird selves and the night was bound to be fun. A good movie, some snacks and two of her best friends. Venn and Neila had hung out plenty of times before and every time it seemed like an all out war of pranking between the two. Adrian was always stuck in the middle.

Once the got to the room, Adrian went straight back to her room and changed into some yoga pants and a hoody that she stole from Venn before he left. (Funny how she hadn't taken any of Lani's hoodies...) She skipped out to the common room and towards the little kitchen where all the snacks were held. Pulling out a bag of popcorn for herself, she grabbed a coke from the fridge, "Hey Venny you want anything?" She asked him as she hip-checked the fridge door shut.

He couldn't stay calm. He wanted to hurt Lani, but he had to be nice. He had to show at least the slightest of consideration towards Adrianna. After all that she's done for him, he just had to.

"Nothing. Thanks." He said, anger shown in his voice, sitting on the couch, right hand placed upon his chin, staring into the wall. How could they let this happen to her? Why was she still such a happy soul? Optimism didn't work well with Venn, but he was able to fake a smile. He did it for practically all of his life, even though his life has been picture perfect ever since he got out of his mother's womb.

His skin started to grow goosebumps due to the cold of his previous metallic coating. They were in Vermont, he was no longer in Miami. He looked away from Adrianna, and looked at the TV.

Adrianna was a very calm and optimistic person. She leveled out Venn's anger and pessimism and would always be there to relieve all anger that she could. She didn't want him to be angry and she didn't want him to hurt Lani. Honestly, she just wished it would all blow over and nothing bad would happen.

The anger in his voice dimmed her happy mood, her shoulders slumping and the pep in her step dragging. She popped the tab on her coke and took a drink, setting the can on the coffee table before she sat down beside him. Turning towards him, she rubbed his back gently and bit her lip, thinking of how to begin her speech. Venn was frustrated and she could understand why, but he didn't have to be angry with Lani. He should be angry at the men that had thrown her in the back of the van and treated her poorly.

"Venny," She started as he looked away. "C'mon just chill. It's no big deal, I'm fine now. All they did was rough me up a bit then they got their asses kicked. No reason to be all huffy so cheer up. Prettyyyy pleeease," She nudged him and leaned in to peck him on the cheek. "There will be no grumpiness tonight, just laughter and fun-ness." Adrian leaned into his arm and rested her cheek on his shoulder, "I hate when you're mad."
