It was night again, and with night came everything Damia was supposed to do, and nothing that she wanted to do. There was sleep, of course, but that wasn’t going to happen. Homework would be good but would require focus… and not panicking. That wasn’t going to happen either. With little left but walking around, watching TV, or playing video games Damia predictable returned to her xbox.
The night started out relaxed – a new character, no particular goal, just recollecting items and getting as far into the game as she could. Around 11pm, however, something triggered in the back of her mind. She needed a challenge, and not just any challenge, the biggest challenge she could find. So she loaded her most difficult save she could find and returned to the boss she could never beat. 3 hours later she was still at it, obsession in full swing, only now the aggravation had been building for the past three hours.
It wasn’t possible. She should have known that. No, she did know that. She could hardly get the boss down to three quarters health, but then she almost got it down to half and her hopes skyrocketed. She died of course, but that was okay. She could do it again. The next time she walked in, however, she didn’t even get a first attack in.
Her frustration erupted. She cursed. She threw her controller. She cursed again. Damia even looked for something to hit, but quickly pulled herself back to her senses. She picked up the controller and tried again… and died immediately. Discarding the controller with a clatter, she got up. There was nowhere to go really, but Damia definitely needed a break.
