You Mean EPIC String? [Vin]

Sam was leaving his final class of the day when he saw a familiar figure moving towards the courtyard. Curious, he caught up and fell in step a good ten feet behind the man that had caught his attention. Ten feet was a good distance for casually following someone stealthily, right?

Anyway, Sammy followed Vin all the way to the other end of the courtyard, where he leaned against a tree to watch what the coolest guy ever was doing. There was something with a can and suddenly brightly coloured strings were streaming out from Vincent's hands. It was messy and it was hitting people in the face and the back.

And it was awesome.

Sam walked forwards and stopped about three feet away from Vincent, looking at the extra cans that had been carelessly dumped on the ground at Vincent's feet. Sammy picked one up and read the label. Silly String. He looked up just in time to get hit right in the forehead with some. He blinked in shock, then grinned. "Dude! Can I try?"

During a recent shopping trip with his best friend, Vincent had stumbled upon a shelf full of silly string. With the sound knowledge that Silly String was extremely flammable and his best friend was pyrokinetic, he foresaw much fun in their future.

They burned (quite literally) through several bottles almost as soon as they got out of the store, leaving scorch marks in the parking lot and sidewalks. But seeing as Vin had spent every single crumpled bill that he'd stuffed in his pockets, there had been plenty left. And that was why he'd brought a bag full of the little cans with him to school today, because what could be more fun than assaulting students and staff alike with faces full of sticky, colorful string?

He'd just finished drawing an artful (not) pair of boobs on the side of a tree with the silly string when the pink can he'd been holding sputtered its dying breath, so he went to retrieve another can of pink. It was then that he spotted the young blonde kid going through his stash. He still had one half-full can of yellow string in his hand, so he gave the kid a good spray with it, laughing to himself.

And when the young boy asked if he could try, Vincent's whole face lit up. "Fuck yeah, little dude! Grab a bunch, le'ss go spray some fuckers in th'ass!" Vin might not have had a clue who this boy was, but if he wanted to play with Silly String with him, well, he liked him already.

Once he loaded up with a new arsenal, Vin gestured for Sam to follow him, grinning from ear to ear as he hid behind a bush, waiting to ambush the next poor soul that walked by.

Wiping his face off, Sam still had a huge smile on. He laughed with Vincent, wondering if this meant that he was in.

Sammy grabbed as many cans as he could manage (read: two) before following after Vin. The older student's handiwork was everywhere, and Sam thought it was so cool. In fact, everything about Vincent was a ton cooler up close. But he could focus on how awesome his new friend was later. For now, he had been given a mission.

(Yes, he already counted himself as a friend. Yes, he counted "spray some [people] in the [butt]" as a mission. No, he didn't have a single thought that he might regret this.)

Sammy crouched behind the bush next to Vincent, trying and nearly failing to keep his balance as he waited, holding his breath a little as he listened and stared at Vin with wide eyes. In all his weeks following Vincent, he'd never been this close. He had thought about what he might do when finally meeting and talking to Vincent, but none of his thoughts or plans included silly string and espionage.

Sammy liked the word espionage. He just learned what it meant a few months ago, but hadn't found a reason to use it. Well, until just now. He hoped some time he could get to say it, not just think it.

He was starting to get a cramp. And it hadn't even been that long. Fidgeting some, he spoke up in a stage-whisper. "How much longer, Vincent?"

Crouching down behind the bush, taking only brief moments to peer around the edge to watch for passersby, Vincent couldn't wipe the grin off his face. (A common problem for him, really.) Not only did he have a large supply of silly string, but he now also had a sidekick. Sweet!

"Not long, dude. Shh, someone's comin'!" A normal person might have wondered why a kid he didn't know already knew his name, but in Vincent's case he thought he was infamous. At least in Pilot Ridge. So it was perfectly acceptable for everyone to know who he was.

He squatted down closer to the ground, waiting, listening, probably being the quietest he's ever been in his entire life, when the poor unsuspecting stranger walked past their bush. "GO GO GO GO!" Vn shouted, leaping from behind the bush and unloading both cans of pink and yellow string (Pretty!) all over the poor guy.

Laughing and collapsing into the grass, Vincent held his stomach."Kid! Yer fuckin' awesome!" Yep, Sammy was definitely in. But not before Vin decided to spray silly string in the boy's hair, because the cans weren't empty yet.

Had Sammy known he was being thought of as a sidekick to Vincent, a train could have hit him right there and then and he would have died happy. But then, a train track running through the school was kind of a weird idea. Change that to a car or something slightly more reasonable than a train. Why was Sammy thinking of cars in the first place?

Yes, Vin, your name precedes you to the point that a kid who hasn't even been here very long knows who you are on sight. You're that popular and unique. (Just nobody ever tell him this is a fan boy, oh please.)

When someone did come by finally, Sammy jumped up and sprayed in the general direction of the random stranger guy as well, but Vincent sort of got in the way so more green and blue made it onto the older boy than onto the stranger. Whoops. Maybe he should work on making sure his path is clear before shooting.

And then Vincent was laughing, so Sam took that as a cue to laugh as well, and it wasn't even a moment before he was laughing as hard as the older boy. He grinned at Vin's praise. "Yeah, so are you, dude!" And then he was sprayed with pink string, which caused him to spray the remainder of his blue at Vin's hair. "If you don't stop, I'll have to declare war!" He held up his other can in a warning. Silly string fight with Vincent Verax? Fun times ten hundred thousand million.

Wait, that's not a real number? Don't anyone tell Sammy that.

Vincent didn't seem to notice that he'd been caught in the crossfire. He was too busy laughing at the grumbling student who was trying to peel the sticky string off of himself before it dried. Just to add insult to injury, he flung his middle finger up at their target, but he was already walking away at that point. At least it was harmless fun?

... for once.

He snorted when he got a head full of blue string, trying to look up to marvel at Sammy's work before realizing it was pretty much impossible. "So how d'I look wit' blue hair? Pretty sexy, huh?" Because Vincent always looked sexy. He would accept no less.

Now, it may seem weird for a sort-of grown man to be asking a kid if he was sexy, but Vincent just doesn't think of these things. It didn't matter if Sam was eleven or a hundred and eleven,, he would treat him the same. Which was probably good in some ways and really, really bad in all the other ways.

Raising an eyebrow at Sammy, Vincent's smirk turned devious. "A war, hmmm?" He stood up, brushed himself off (but didn't bother with the string already stuck in his hair) and readied his cans. "You are fuckin' ON little dude!" He looked past Sammy to where he'd left the bag full of silly string, then bolted, emptying the last of his current ones in Sammy's general direction. He tried to do a fancy roll at the last minute, but considering his lack of coordination, he kind of just ended up faceplanting into the grass.

Yeah, he's classy.

Sam studied Vin, and shrugged. "Your hair's awesome. All there is to it." No, he didn't quite get the sexy thing, so he wasn't going to point it out or be shocked by it. The kid was oblivious, what can you say.

And as the war broke out between the two of them, Sammy found his face narrowly avoiding getting covered in string. As Vin ran towards the bag, so did Sammy. But Sam didn't try anything fancy, and therefore didn't trip. He was confused when he got there first, picking up a new can and turning to figure out where Vin went.

"Oh, shoot! Vincent, are you all right?" He took a couple steps towards the tight-pants-wearing facegrasser, cautious and wondering whether the war was called off for helping someone up.
