Stirring

((I'm so sorry D: ))
Dom scrubbed his hand over his face, his eyes heavy with the sleep he hadn’t actually had in days.
“There.” He said in a heavy sigh, his voice as low as he could make it and still have the child’s mother hear him. “Sleepin’.”
Lucy glowered at Dom, her nose rising in distaste. “Would have staying sleepin’ if you’d kept your fat mouth shut.”The decision to keep their baby had been a…strange one.
Strange because it had seemed so easy. They were young. And she definitely hated that guy. But it was just…right.
Lucy only regretted it on nights light these when the little piglet just would not sleep. At all. Dom seemed to have a magic way with the baby that could only come with communion with his own satanic DNA.
“Sorry I just wanted to say hello to my child.” Dom hissed, his voice tight as he tried to keep it low.
“Who the hell says hello to their child at eight o’clock at night when their child is a six month-old baby?!” Lucy stated, her hands flopping on the couch with exasperation.
It was true that they hadn’t gotten the baby down until ten, and it was currently one and the tyke was up on and off. But this couldn’t be all his fault could it.
“I just hope when he grows up he’s got more sense than you.”
“Oh what, like he’s gonna get it from your genes?”
“You’re damn right he is. He’s got my looks doesn’t he?”
“Well seeing as he doesn’t look like rotten troll meat that can’t quite be true now can it?”
In moments like these Lucy wondered why she’d even had sex with Dom in the first place, but she also knew exactly why. They were cut from the same cloth in a way, probably why they were drawn to each other. It was why she couldn’t help a play of laughter in her eyes when they devolved into childish games like this. It was why she’d kept the baby.
Both of their heads snapped towards the nursery as wailing cries carried over the air. Lucy rolled her eyes. “Oh Jesus Christ now look what you---“
“I’ve got it.” Dom said tiredly, holding his hand out to stop her.
“It’s my tu—“
“Just…get some rest, okay, Lucy?” Dom’s eyes traveled over her.
“I’ll take care of him tonight. You get some sleep.”
Lucy’s eyebrows lifted in surprised, but she didn’t complain. Not
yet anyway. She might hate that guy, but he was serious about the baby. Real serious. No way in hell she was gonna let a night off go to waste. As he disappeared into the room with the baby, Lucy patted him on the back.
“G’night, ass hole.”
