The Basics
Name: Roselyn Shiloh Veeder
Nicknames: Dr.Rose
Age: 31
Orientation: Heterosexual
Desired Rank/Job: Pediatrician @ Maddock General Hospital
Powers: Rose can speed up cellular regeneration, but results can not usually be seen instantly (unless it's a small cut or minor surface wound). If a limb was cut off or if there is severe damage or trauma she can not correct it, merely speed up the body's healing process. Through touch she can activate a persons cells and help their body to remodel tissues and organs back to their normal state. Most healing that she does is unseen, dealing with issues underneath the surface of the skin. Concentration and knowledge of the body does help, and duration of body contact plays a huge factor. She does not need to know exactly what she is trying to help the body fight off but knowing the general location gives much better results. If she focuses on a smaller area of the body the greater the strength of the manipulation.
She does suffer from using this too much, running her own body down sometimes to the point where her own immune system weakens and she grows physically sick. How long it takes her to recover depends on how much she exerted herself before hand and if she avoids deliberate manipulation or not. She can heal others better than her own body, perhaps because that same driving will is also coming from the same source and tiring her both mentally and physically. Other than bringing it upon herself, she is never sick. Her skin is always in top condition, her hair and nails grow fast. She appears younger than she really is, and has for years.
As stated before she can not manipulate without touch or body contact. It doesn't matter how much knowledge Rose has of the affliction or disease she's handicapped in the situation even at the shortest of distances. Her ability acts innately in her sleep, but only mild results come from this and it would take a good deal of time before anyone would be able to notice.

The Details
Hair Color:Brown
Eye Color:Blue
Any Piercings?Earrings
Any Tattoos? None
Any Scars? None noticeable
General Appearance:
Roselyn stands five foot four inches, often seen wearing short heels to increase her height but not by much. She loves dresses, bright colors, and flowers clipped in her hair. She doesn't need glasses but she does own a couple of pairs of 'sunglasses' that appear prescription. She tries to take good care of herself, often wearing polish on her short and kept nails. She loves open toed shoes, anything that looks strapped and feminine. She appears even younger when in her casual clothes, as opposed to the white coat she wears at the hospital when treating most patients.
Roselyn, or Rose rather, has dark wavy brown hair which can often be seen twisted and clipped when the weather grows warmer. She wears make up to accent her eyes, but no real dark or bright shades of shadow are ever used. She loves bold pink and red lipstick, wearing it when she has the energy and time. And as far as jewelry goes, it is best if it's kept somewhat simple. After all her work has became her life in the past few years and as much as she likes to brighten the atmosphere, some things just get in the way. When she is seen wearing any it's usually more along the lines of costume jewelry rather than anything high dollar.
Personality: Rose acts different around children than she does adults. Around others she can be shy, lacking confidence in her behavior. However when she's around a child she brightens, becomes bold and can tell stories or paint some vivid tale just to see them smile. She's more outgoing, trusting with what a child thinks of her. Not that there aren't others in her life that know her, she's just not generally bold in front of large groups or people she doesn't know.
Rose is also considered a martyr, she cares about others more so than herself and she will put all her energy into another life until it runs her completely down. She will bottle up pain, often feeling guilt for not being able to stop things others go through. She keeps this to herself, knowing they would question her judgment if they knew she was bothered so much seeing some of her patients suffering as they do. Instead she convinces herself that this makes her a better doctor.
For the most part Rose tries to get along with people, however, she can be a bit harsh at forgiving when it comes to lack of care or concern for others. She has a loving nature but to see people that purposely mistreat others makes her physically sick. She doesn't like being around dishonest people, especially those that are on drugs. It's hard for her to have sympathy when someone hurts themselves through their own selfish actions. She remains professional, as her job requires it, but rage seems to seed deep in her heart during such cases.
She can also get defensive of religion, she may smile and put on a pretty face if the issue is addressed but when someone tries to 'church' her or inquires too much on her beliefs or lack of compassion she often becomes aggressive. She feels the tension she has between her and God are private, not for someone else's amusement and she doesn't believe someone from outside her standing point has a right to tell her she's wrong for being hurt, for thinking she doesn't deserve these things. She holds her tongue usually but she will immediately leave the situation and make it clear it's not welcome to be addressed with her again.
Your Vices
Likes:Rose likes watching movies, keeping it simple and relaxing around the house, she likes trying new things or going new places. She likes writing or recording your thoughts when she's alone to reflect on things going on in her life. She loves traveling to the country, being somewhere where the world stands still around you is ideal for her. She likes face painting, dressing in silly costumes, making a fool of herself when she knows someone is sad. Silly string has always made her laugh. She likes little scavenger hunts, notes left, little sentimental things. She feels pulled to church but feels convicted at the same time.
Dislikes:Suffering, neglect, abuse, seeing things that aren't appreciated. Seeing children who have unconditional love for their parents and it's not returned. Hate, racism... all boundaries that keep others from accepting one another and showing brotherly love and union. I know it sounds generic and corny but her life it molded around repairing people... she can only manipulate the body, not the mind. She has a fear of deep and dark water. Does like the feel of something swimming against you when you can't see it. Can't stand eating fish, except ironically tuna from a can.
Strengths: Rose is good at studying people, picking up on relationships. She's good at diagnosing health problems and also relating to the patient. She's good at making a fool of herself and with grace, usually. She likes to sing and can quote some of her favorite movies. She's good at computers and holds an inner geek. She's pretty good at video games.. she spends a lot of her lunch breaks in the children's recovery room. Her powers make her efficient at her job
Weaknesses: Using her ability several times a day makes it less efficient, wearing her down. She's not good emotionally dealing with the loss of others. She's not the best at dealing with goodbyes, feeling like a part of herself is leaving with the other person. Unless she speaks on medical facts... or findings she doesn't care for speaking in front of groups of people. It's hard for her to open up and share herself with others. She usually gets easily attached or not at all to those around her. She feels so much anger towards those that don't handle life with care, especial those of innocent children. Forgiveness has a bitter taste and can be hard to swallow for her. She feels more comfortable around kids, feeling their hearts are much more pure and knowing they don't carry any ill intent.
Fears:Deep dark water and getting pregnant again only to lose it
Secret:Rose wants children. She feels her life is in shambles, that she's failed God and is running from him.

History
Rose was born in Virginia with her family in a nice quiet town. She had a twin sister named Amber, which during her first years of life was her best friend and constant companion. Even now she has memories, here and there of her sister. Their father was a pastor at a local church, making hardly enough to keep food on the table. Their mother stayed at home taking care of the girls because they could not afford to pay for childcare. Almost everyone in the town lived and worked on a farm, probably the reason that their paychecks were so little.
Rose loved listening to her daddy's sermons, she loved the singing, the love she felt from her family. They did do without a lot in life as far as materialistic things and it was hard for her to understand that what they had, or didn't have was God's blessing for them. School brought this to her attention at first, her and her sister wearing hand made clothes all their life. It was a bit of a culture shock from being inside the church and there was teasing for a while. Rose started to doubt her love for others and for her home town. She wanted to get out, she wanted to have a nice house, nice car... So when her daddy traveled around to revivals she went with him. She was glued to his side.
One particular year would change her life completely. They had traveled to a much larger town down south in Georgia for her dad to speak at a revival. She rode down with him early, remembering the long trip and the dry heat that she couldn't ignore. She knew that mom, gram ma, and Amber would be down there in a few hours. Ironically she didn't notice their absence as everything got started. She felt the love of God moving through that place, felt uplifted as if He had control of all things around her and He was holding them securely in His hand. She was greatly moved, nearing age seven and having dealt with the fact God wasn't going to bless them with material things... her family was worth more than any weight of gold. It wasn't until almost everyone had left and turned in for the night until the situation got serious. She was perhaps the first to see the white cars driving up the little gravel road that led right up to the tent. Her mother, grandmother, and sister had been in a wreck right across the state line. Her sister was already dead when the cops got there. This event shaped a great deal of her mind and future to come.
She rebelled a bit, like any teenage would do but set her mind of leaving her home town as soon as possible. Which leads up to when her powers manifested. She was thirteen at the time, when she noticed a couple of strangers visiting her house. Her mother didn't tell her exactly what was said, but she seemed offended. She told her they were trying to enroll her in a school somewhere up north. Of course Rose was anxious to hear more of the story but her mom wouldn't allow it. She would simply say they couldn't afford it. From that point it wasn't long til her powers showed itself. Something very small, simply scratching up her knee after she lost control of her bike and slid across gravel. It burnt, sure, and she held on to her knee, only to find a couple minutes later after she had caught her breath that the blood lingering on the palms of her hands was superficial. She started to wonder, to experiment with her body. She kept this a secret for a couple of months until telling her mother and father about the bike incident and the many latter that were self inflicted and healed.
Her parents talked, and allowing her to go to Hammel was the final decision. She attended the school from the age of fourteen to eighteen. In that short time she had meet James, a man who changed her life. He came from a rich family they seemed to be made for each other. They left the school and got married, moving into a home in Vermont a couple hours drive from the school. Things seemed to be going well, Rose had started college while her husband worked at a law firm. They wanted children and it didn't take too long for her to conceive... and lose it. She became fascinated in the two months of prenatal care she had and she quickly changed her major to the medical field. She wanted to deal with these amazing little people that needed help more than anyone else. She wanted to be that rock for someone, to help them grow and learn.
Losing her child put more distance between her and God. He really allowed too much of a burden to be placed on her. So with faith weak they tried again. After having three miscarriages Rose had doubt in so many things. It put a burden on her and her husband and they divorced. They went their separate ways and she poured herself into her schooling. After she graduated she moved back to Pilot Ridge and has just recently taken a job at Maddock General Hospital. Here she lives and functions pretty much alone, letting her job fill a void she felt she was destined to have but was denied.
Roleplay Example
Ashleigh gave a slight yawn, the computer screen blurring as she hit the send button on her email. She was miles away from her brother but she still found it necessary to email him at least once a week. No matter what changed in their lives they still felt that bond they had with one another. She had been busy all morning and couldn't wait to see Alex. She was sure she could find him around, after all they spent every single day together, this one would be no different. In fact she was surprised he hadn't shown up yet. Perhaps he missed her when she was dropping a book off at the library or when she helped Kelly finish one of her essays. Either way they would have plenty of time together.
She pushed the lap top off her lap, beside her on the bed and hesitated only a second before closing it. She swung her legs over the edge, smiling and shaking her head as she heard deep laughter coming from the common area. She slipped on her shoes and quickly grabbed a black leather coat, definitely big on her small frame as she wrapped herself up in it and inhaled deeply. She could remember the first time she had wore Alex's coat, which now could almost always be found in her room. Every now and again he'd wear it, leaving the scent of his cologne lingering on it. She took a glance at her watch and couldn't believe it was as late as it was. She took one last look in the mirror before running her hands through her hair and hastily making her way out of the dorms.
It took her maybe fifteen minutes before she was drawn to the student lounge, really expecting Alex to be shooting pool but instead their was silence as she opened the door, a card halting slowly to a stop not far from where she stood. Her eyes darted up instantly to Alex's face and in an automatic reaction a smile spread upon her lips. She pushed her hands deep in the pockets of his coat as she walked over to him, her converse hardly making any noise at all on the floor. They had been together for quiet some time now and yet everything felt so new. Butterflies still stirred in her stomach when she saw him, of course now they settled down from time to time, and when things got quiet she would catch herself sometimes daydreaming. It was so funny to think of these too coming from such a small country town, really a modern day fairy tale come true.
She pushed her hair back as she stopped in front of Alex, leaning down to place a kiss on his lips. She let her hand rest on his lap and patted it, letting him shift himself around in the seat before sitting down on his lap. She wrapped her arms around his neck, leaning back against him, she knew Alex at least she was aware of his jealous nature. She saw the way he clenched his jaw sometimes when someone talked to her or looked at her for too long, little things she would think nothing about. But she was hoping that this wouldn't put a damper on their evening, in fact she was determined to stop it from doing so. "Hey stranger, where have you been all my life?" She teased, hoping this would put give a different perspective to the situation.
