Hello! I already intend to join, and am working on my application right now! But I'd like to ask a question about my characters power in order to thoroughly fill out said application. I hope this particular one hasn't been asked about and you've already answered the question...I checked around but I could have missed one. Anyway here we go!
I'd like to use Terrakinesis as my characters ability, but tweaked a little bit, or at least extended maybe? The definition you have up is "Ability to manipulate the earth (rocks, dirt, etc.). Limited to natural elements, nothing manmade. Side effects include the inability to keep themselves, or anything clean, fear of flying, fear of open water, and migraines."
Would/could that includes plants that are growing inside of the Earth? For instance, could she manipulate the roots of a tree to reach up and grab someone, or the branch of a weeping willow tree snap someone playfully as they walked past? These are just examples. Of course she could only do things like this if the tree/plant was connected to the Earth. I'd like to think if it was a potted plant or maybe like...a dead tree that had fallen over, she wouldn't be able to manipulate those because they've been essentially taken from the Earth.
Also it says limited to natural elements, nothing man-made. I've wanted to play a character similar to this for quite a long time but never found a place that would allow this particular set of powers. Air/wind is a natural element, so could she manipulate that to a certain degree or would that be saved for those who manipulate weather?
I don't want her to be able to manipulate water or rain or fire or any of those elements, but I feel like air/wind could have a lot to do with her powers...still, if you'd rather me not, that's okay. I'd mostly just like her to have the ability to manipulate plants, big and small, and other Earth-related things. Animals excluded, of course.
Though I would like for animals to be more friendly around her than they would the everyday human being, because she has a sort of one-with-nature kind of that. It isn't really an ability...they don't come up and have conversations with her, but a deer in the woods might approach her where as a to a normal human it would become nervous and flee.
With my hopeful extension, the side effects would be more than migraines, of course. The sudden onset of fatigue after the manipulations and bouts of dizziness that could even cause nausea.
I do have one real problem, though. I don't like the fact that she has to be an unclean person in order to have this ability. I could see her being generally messy and unorganized, certainly, and willing to sit around in the dirt for hours at a time. But I'd like to think that following that...when she went home...she'd take a shower, haha. So is it okay if I play it like that instead? Messy and unorganized, but not like...dirty. I could see someone insisting that maybe she smells like fresh soil or something like that, but I don't want her to be smelly haha.
So, are these things okay? I know it's a lot of questions to be answered, but I wanted to be specific. I figured that would be best. Thanks in advanced for your help! Oh, and I'm Heather!
