Japan has grown tiresome. Only so much fish you can eat, raw or cooked. My grasp of the language is still rather weak. I can make slow conversation basic matters at best and I the people I'm not more familiar with seem to get tired of it. I imagine I sound like a five year old child to them. Finally completed the traveling production of Jesus Christ Superstar. I missed being ensemble. A lot less stress than the leads, no one notices when your costume isn't perfect, or your make up is a bit off.

Last day in Japan. I should decide where I am going. I suppose I owe Mark a visit. Apparently he is running a small programming company now. I didn't know he could figure out how to do anything more advanced than saving a file. Maybe he's finally settled. Friend in the States said that there is a job open that I might be interested in. Wouldn't say what it was until he could confirm. I'm not doing "Annie" again though. I'm about ready to throw the next red headed orphan child I meet off a bridge.

I've spent very little time in the States. Maybe this position at this institute... Hendrick? Harold? No, Hammel. That's right. Well, maybe it'll give me a chance to see how the Americans do it. Mark is doing about as good as he usually is. Programming company fell through because he took on too large of a job with the wrong people, now he's left the country again and already asked me for money. One of these days he's going to get murdered by a drug lord.

Saw a performance of "She Loves Me" and found it was about as bad as I expected. Not that I expect Broadway from a local community theater in Kaiserslautern. Called up a realtor in Vermont. Apparently the branch office in Pilot Ridge is also looking for someone. Something about phasing out of reality. I honestly couldn't tell if they were joking or if something happened. Did some personal research. Pilot Ridge has one of the highest reported concentrations of Metas in North America.

Realtor called back. Small house near edge of town. About a mile and a half from the school, and two miles from the center of town. Maybe I'll jog to work. Found local automobile dealer to purchase a car from. I don't like throwing money around, but I don't want to have to deal with stupid things like housing and transportation when I get to a new town.

Reread Hamlet. I wish I had someone to do his dialogue with Ophelia. Perhaps one of the most movie parts of the whole play, in my mind. I'm still on the fence about whether he was truly mad, or simply genius and dedicated to his plan. Shakespeare. Overrated by most people, but still the genius of his time. Should I start with Shakespeare for the students? Still need to write a proper curriculum.

In the States. Officially moved into the house. Checked in at the school. Have nearly a month before I have to actually begin classes. Finishing writing the curriculum and have a lesson plan. Activating a cell phone with a local number next week.

The local theater here doesn't seem to be putting on any Christmas performances. I confess to being a hermit. I've met my neighbors, but haven't really left the house except to purchase groceries and jog.

Have seen some students with extreme talent. Most have yet to be encouraged to pursue any real training in drama. Need to speak with choir teacher about musicals. What musical would be good for this school? Wicked could be fun. Must ask if there is a tin man.

I don't like Valentine's day. It is one of those social expectations that people refuse to let go of. Cancelled classes that day and stayed at home. I wonder how Kate is at times like this. I really need to stop letting her get to me. Eight years is far too long to let one woman continue bothering me, especially when she was the one who made the choice.

Also, reminder to self. One bottle of wine is a bit much. Three beers, a bottle of wine, and a fifth of vodka is bordering on alcohol poisoning. Find something to rid self of hangover.

There's a nice girl at the school. History teacher. She seems smart, and asked me out. I was stood up for the first time in... Well, ever. She offered to make it up to me in a second date. Hopefully that'll go better. Uriah called up yesterday. I swear he's up to something, he kept avoiding my questions. Maybe I'll make plans to fly out to Europe again to visit him soon. It's been a long time since we had a life talk. Need to ask if he has a girlfriend yet.
