Time Warp

It was the first day of school for Rachel , Julia woken up early in the morning 5am to be infact she just couldnt sleep she was excited for her little girl so she got up and sorted out Rachels clothes and her lunch, she ironed her clothes to wanting her little girl to look her best looking at the clock.She realised it was time to get Rachel up she quickly put the iron away to cool not wanting it to be left out and made she way into her daughters room, sitting on the side of her bed, she gently stroking her cheek as she whispered. "Rachel sweetie, it's time to get up my little butterfly '' she smiled happily . ''Its your first day of big school ''

Julia walked back out of Rachels room and back down stairs in need of some hot coffee to wake herself up and try not to cry with the fact that her little girl was growing up so quick '' Ra-Ra come on l need to hear movement up there as lm starting breakfast '' she called out moving to the fridge Julia gathered the ingrediants to make pancakes for her little girl. Julia had taken the morning off from work so was dressed in a simple pair of stone wash boot cut jeans and a cute white long sleeve t-shirt her hair was tied up in a mess pony tail but today was about Rachel she had also made a bet with her friend at work at who would cry the most and she had a feeling that it was going to be her. lt had just been Julia and Rachel since Rachel was born and Julia wouldnt of had it any other way Rachel saw her father when ever he wanted to see her and when Rachel wanted to see her daddy.


Julia flicked on the radio and started to dance along with it as she went back to cooking the pancakes flipping them with ease as she moved back to the fridge and pouring two glasses of orange juice which she started t o sip at before dishing up a pancake and starting to make another one as she waited for Rachel .

Really Rachel was having a wonderful dream. Her mommy and daddy had gotten back together and she was princess of the mermaids. Everyone was happy and that was all that she wanted. What she wasn't expecting though was her mom to come in and wake her up. That was not on this little girl's to do list. Instead of waking up and getting dressed, instead she snuggled back into the bed, hoping her mom would let her sleep more.

Only when she had heard her mom's voice from the kitchen below did she finally rise. She had stayed up late last night because she was just so excited and she couldn't get to sleep! Her night was spent in giggles and yawns, as most nights were, but she was so excited! She had her bright pink backpack and her scarf that was ready to go for the next day. Dutifully she pulled on her clothes and brushed her teeth before going down to sit at the table with the brush. "Ponytails mommy?" She was very particular about how and where she wanted her hair. She knew her mom would get what she was trying to say, her Daddy never did though. Mommy said that was because daddy was a boy.

Don't get her wrong though, she loved her daddy. In fact she wished her daddy and mommy would get back together. She wasn't sure why they were apart, but she knew that she loved both of them and wanted them to be happy. "I'm excited mommy! Are you Excited?!"

Julia smiled '' Well good morning butterfly .. now come and eat your pancakes and l will do your hair for you '' she smiled as cuddled and kissed her daughters cheek taking the brush and carefully running it through her hair '' Now would little lady like one side up or pig tails or plats or a pony tail like mommy ?'' she asked putting on a funny voice her fingers quickly tickling her neck slightly .

While waiting for an answer about the hair situation Julia reached for her orange juice taking a sip before nodding her head '' Of course l am excited sweetie your going to have a great first day at school and daddy will ring you later tonight after dinner and you can tell him all about your day and all the friends you have there '' she smiled '' Because he is going to be so excited to hear about it '' she said

'' l think soon your going to be as tall as me any day now '' She smiled as she walked to get her handbag and checking she had her car keys she pulled out a new hair band with a small mermaid on it and a pink clip '' Now would the big grown up girl like to wear these today?'' she asked setting them on the table before glancing at the clock '' Ok we need to speed things up a little we dont want you to be late for your first day '' Know matter how early she got up she always seemed to have to rush

Rachel sat down and smiled at her mommy rubbing her eyes and shaking her head at the kiss."Pigtails please mommy." Rachel always made sure to say please and thank you, as it was only polite. She giggled as her mommy called her little lady. She felt like she ahd to be a little lady for her mom and her dad. She was a little girl yes, but being a little lady for her mom and making her smile made her happy. Hugs could cure everything, at least that is what her mom had told her repeatedly. "Thank you mommy!"

Rachel gave a grin as she began to eat her pancakes. She knew that it was the first day and she was just so excited! "I hope so!" She gave a smile as a bit of syrup dripped down the side of her face. She knew her dad would be excited too. He always loved listening to her. "Maybe after school we could go to the horseys?" She really wanted to go see her pony. "Can Thistle come to school with me?" She was afraid she was gonna be lonely, and thistle was her bestest friend who also happened to be a horse.

Rahel giggled as she looked at her mom. "That would be fun!" Her mom was her role model with her daddy. She had finished eating her pancakes before she looked at the hairtie her mom was holding. Letting out a considerably loud squeal she jumped up and down in her chair nodding. "Oh mommy, its gorgeous!" It was so pretty, and shiny, and just screamed her. She loved it. "Thank you mommy!" Smiling she looked over at her mom and grabbed her things. "All ready mommy. whenever you are!"

Julia glanced at Rachel seeing her messy face she grabbed and cloth and quickly wiped the sticky syrup away,'' Careful dont want to go to school all messy now '' She smiled as she quickly finished doing her little pig tails glad she brought two of the mermaid hair ties. Giving one a light tug '' And well done for your manners just remember them today and you will be fine '' She said leaning down and kissing her daughters head lightly.So proud of her little girl all things considered since her and Nick has spilt they couldnt make there marriage but they seemed to do ok raising there daughter.

She let out a laugh when Rachel said about taking her pony to school she was pretty sure that was the same thing that she said to her own father,'' Well sweetie l dont think Thistle will fit in my car and she will nibble on all your books and l dont think that will go down well with your teachers. '' But sure we can go after school and you can tell her all about it and we can go for a little ride '' she said with a smile, loving the fact that her daughter was as in to horses as she was.She looked forward to the times where they rode together and enjoyed possibly going to a Rodeo because she missed it so.

Grabbing her keys and her handbag grabbing Rachels lunch bag she moved to the door following after her daughter '' Lets not forget your lunch ''She starting to walk towards her Volvo 4x4 '' Well come on then little lady lets get you all strapped in '' She smiled as she opened up the front passenger side to her car '' l will let you sit up front as its a special day '' She smiled as she bowed towards her daughter '' Your highness '' She laughed as she waited for Rachel to climb in glancing at her watch, they still had time and the traffic shouldnt be that bad,fingers crossed.
