Regrets collect like old friends
Here to relive our darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play.
And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn
Here to relive our darkest moments
I can see no way, I can see no way
And all of the ghouls come out to play.
And every demon wants his pound of flesh
But I like to keep some things to myself
I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn
Piano keys sliding beneath her fingers, music ringing out around her, the music filled her with a strong sense of emotion. Luckily she was used to the effect music had on her, otherwise she'd be in a lot of pain. It helped that it was herself singing it instead of hearing someone who really felt heartbreak and sadness singing it. This was just any other song to keep her practicing and giving her a different sort of outlet than talking to a therapist.
Her eyes were closed as she got into the music, allowing herself to be fully focused on that alone. This was her way of standing out. Her fathers always told her that she had been born to stand out from the crowd and though there was no one around, she felt like she really was. Blending into crowds when faced with a social gathering was more of her forte, but when she was on a stage, she liked being the center of attention. It wasn't that she thought she was better than anyone else, but this was where she felt most comfortable.
And it's hard to dance with a devil on your back
So shake him off
Oh woah
I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I'm going to cut it out and restart
'Cause I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn.
So shake him off
Oh woah
I am done with my graceless heart
So tonight I'm going to cut it out and restart
'Cause I like to keep my issues strong
It's always darkest before the dawn.
It would be a different story of course if she had an audience. When she was on stage just practicing she didn't feel ready, she didn't feel like she was good enough just yet. Ellie didn't have stage fright per se, but she did get nervous performing for someone when she wasn't prepared.
Her fingers began to slow on the keys and she finished the song with a smile gracing her face. Until she looked up to see someone watching her.
