Hungry Little Girl (Fer)

[Cara Hayes]

Cara sat alone in a corner of the cafeteria, wolfing down a lasagna. She was famished - like always - and it was surprising how much food she could fit in her petite, little frame. Other than her lasagna, she had a large plate of salad, some pasta, a chocolate cake, and some boiled carrots.

Cara always felt very shy whenever she was in the lunchroom, intimidated by all the noise and the crowd of students. So as she ate, she carefully avoided catching anyone's eye, instead focusing herself entirely on her food. Suddenly, eating too fast, Cara began choking on a large piece of carrot, coughing loudly as she struggled to unlodge the vegetable from her throat.

"No, look," Fer said loudly on the phone. "didn't you read my latest entry? Do not, and I repeat, DO NOT mix purple with yellow." He shook his head as he exhaled. "There are only three specific situations in which you are allowed to, one is Halloween, the second is... OH-MY-GOD."

Fer's jaw dropped and his eyes widened as he hung up and placed his iPhone in his pocket. He immediately got up from his seat and leaped to the table next to his where a girl was choking. Since no one else seemed to be paying attention, or caring, Fer immediately got next to her and started to... freak out.

"OMG someone do something!" He started to jump up and down while shaking his hands rapidly. "Someone! Something! She's choking!"

What was wrong with the cafeteria today? Seeing no other option, Fer got behind the brunette and embraced her, placing his arms just above the girl's breast. OMG, boobies, gross! He thought as he started to put as much pressure as he could on the girl's chest rhythmically as he had seen in TV hoping it'd help. Or hoping someone who knew better would arrive at the scene and take over.

Cara was beginning to lose air and started flailing her arms in hopes to attract attention. And luckily, a brave savior arrived, grabbing her underneath the boobs and pushing hard to unlodge her airway. And pow! Out came the piece of carrot, flying like a bullet to the other side of the table.

Gasping her hair, Cara was silent for a few deep respirations. Then, overcome with emotion, tears flying in all directions, she jumped into her savior's arms, squeezing him tight. "Oh, thank you thank you thank you!" she sang, twirling the student around in the narrow aisle between tables.

Then jumping off the poor guy, she sat back down, turning bright red with embarassment. "I'm sorry. I'm just so happy. I was freaking out there," she exclaimed sheepishly, still crying with happiness. "What's your name?! I have to know your name!" Cara squeezed his hands, jumping up and down as she looked at him intently. "You deserve a prize! I'll have to go tell a teacher or something," she started mumbling, looking around the cafeteria to see if any authority figures had seen his heroic feat! "You're a hero!!"

Suddenly, the girl was fine and spinning him around out of happiness. Fer quickly got into it and started jump up and down, proud that he had saved the girl's life, although he thought it sounded a bit too dramatic for what he had done, but hey, Fer was a dramatic person.

"OMG! I just totally saved your life!" He exclaimed while clapping his hands. "Oh totes, me too." He said as he took his tray from the next table, where he was sitting, and placed it in front of the girl. "You were like OH NO and I was like OMG and like OMG, no one was doing anything and like, yeah." That made sense. "I'm Fer!" The Brazilian boy extended his hand to the girl. "What's yours?" He asked just as he grabbed one of his fries and bit it. "What, no! It was nothing." He laughed a bit at being called a hero, it reminded him of his dad. "My dad says the same thing! He even wrote a superhero book based on me. It's called Repliman, but I'd had preferred Super-Fer."
