There is only one cup of coffee left in the pot. This is survival of the fittest. Featuring Estelle Knight and Honor Sayers

Estelle was tired. Very tired. Last night, she hadn’t slept well, and had just tossed and turned throughout the night. So by the time lunch rolled around, she was absolutely exhausted and ready for the day to be over. Coffee was the only way she could survive the rest of the afternoon. Estelle walked into the staff room and walked straight to the coffee maker, letting out a yawn as she did so.

She reached for the coffee pot, not even noticing anyone else in the staff lounge. Coffee first, social interaction after. Little did she know that someone else was also going for the small amount of coffee left in the pot. Just as her hand touched the pot, someone else had reached for it as well. Immediately, she jerked her hand away, looking up at the person who dared try to steal her cup of coffee. Yes, she already claimed it. “Sorry, did you want that?” She questioned, her tone clearly saying not to touch it.

Honor didn't like coffee. On any given day, the smell of coffee would have been frowned upon and would have been discarded for something like tea or hot chocolate.

But after having had the past two weeks of strenuous training with four telepaths, three hydrokinetics, about seven shapeshifters and an invisible little girl, Honor was at her wit's end and coffee seemed to be calling her name.

In the staff lounge, she didn't bother with the other occupants in the room, knowing where they all were by the smell of their unmistakable cologne and perfume. And as she reached for the coffee pot, her eyebrows raised when someone spoke up in a tone Honor didn't appreciate.

"Yes. I did want that." She said in a strained and raspy voice. After all the yelling and grunting she had been doing the past weeks, her voice had taken on a very guttural tone.

She was quite tempted to just reach her hand over to the person who had spoken and 'asked' her to shove off, but having had to deal with a seventeen year old girl with ESP, Honor felt too drained to use her abilities. So all she did was turn to the person and gave her the sweetest smile, making certain that her walking apparatus and shades were in clear view. "I need a pick me up, if you don't mind. I've just had a horrible, horrible day."

In any other situation, Estelle would have fought for that last cup of coffee… but the poor woman just looked drained. Her expression softened as she explained that she needed a pick me up. “Alright, but just this once.” Estelle pulled her hand away from the precious pot of coffee, feeling her own tiredness starting to kick in, but she felt like the other needed that cup more than she did. “What’s wrong, if you don’t mind my asking?” Estelle often was one to try and listen to others, and try to help when she can. It was just her motherly instinct, although she never had children.

“You’re a trainer, right? That must be rough.” She gave the blonde a warm smile, and reached for the ground coffee to make herself a pot. She could wait the few minutes for a cup of coffee. As she opened the lid, she frowned once again, finding the can empty. Who the hell doesn’t throw away an empty container? Jeez. Well, it was too late now. No coffee for Estelle today. She might just have to go out to a coffee shop or something before the day was over. She tossed the can into the recycling and let out a small sigh before turning her attention back to the other woman.

Hearing the relenting in the woman's voice, Honor gave a victorious smirk to her mug as she grabbed the pot of coffee to pour into her mug. But then the woman actually asked what was wrong with her and Honor wished for that one moment that she could roll her eyes at the woman. But that would mean she would have to find where the woman was and physically exert a motion she wasn't sure would actually be effective. Being blind hinders someone so very greatly from being sarcastic.

Honor almost opted to leave with her mug of coffee but the woman asked her a direct question and Honor suddenly felt obligated to answer. Augh, humanity...it always got in the way of her personality.

"Teenagers always think they can just get away with being brats. They forget that one day they're going to have to deal with the same shit." Honor took a sip of the coffee and blanched a little. Gawd that tasted awful. But she was already slowly waking up.
