The Basics
Name: Spencer Victoria Ellis
Nicknames: Spence
Age: 17
Orientation: Heterosexual (loosely)
Desired Rank/Job: Student
Powers: Adaptation - Spencer is able to adapt her body to different environments and situations. For example, if submerged in water she can acquire to ability to siphon oxygen from the water. It's not quite breathing underwater, but she can acquire enough oxygen that she can remain underwater for much longer than a normal human. She can also regulate her body temperature so she doesn't overheat on hot days or freeze during cold ones.
Spencer's changes are not instantaneous. It takes upwards of 10 minutes before the adaptations to complete, depending on what change is being made. Her immune system is also rather weak due to this ability and she often catches colds, but if she attempts to adapt to too many things in a short period of time, her body will turn against itself and her immune system will start attacking healthy cells.

The Details
Hair Color: Blonde
Eye Color: Blue
Any Piercings? Ears
Any Tattoos? She wants one
Any Scars? None
General Appearance: Spencer would say she's an average girl, nothing spectacular. If asked, she'd tell you she's 5' 3", 114 lbs, and has blonde hair and blue eyes. She'd also tell you that she thinks her thighs are chubby but her ankles are too bony. She'll say her eyes aren't even, that one is higher than the other by just a little bit and it bothers her every time she looks in a mirror. Spencer would tell you that her smile is crooked and that her teeth don't line up just right, but she's afraid of braces so she'll never get them fixed. She'd also complain about the dimples the form in her cheeks when she smiles and how they make her look like a little girl.
She'd say her chin is too small and too pointy and that the rest of her face is too round. She wishes she had larger breasts and a smaller waist and more definition in her stomach. She'd grab the layer of skin over her hips and say she's too lumpy or that she wishes she could lose just five more pounds. Spencer would tell you that her shoulders are too square and her arms are too long, but what she can't stand the most is the fact that she's not exactly symmetrical.
Personality: Spencer is just a little bit off.
Socially awkward might be the best way to put it. Though she's quite capable of holding an engaging conversation, she struggles immensely with making eye contact. It makes her feel vulnerable, so she'll stare at your mouth instead. Spencer also doesn't have a sense for limits and will discuss anything with anyone, no matter how inappropriate the topic.
Spencer can find humor in most anything. She's nearly constantly smiling and in a good mood, her voice bubbly and bright. It's a rare occurrence to find her upset, though that's not to say the girl doesn't have her problems. She's a bottler to the extreme, every sad thought or feeling that arises quickly gets tucked away inside, away from anyone's prying eyes. Every once in a blue moon, the cork will pop and Spencer will let everything spill out, though only when barricaded in her room when no one will hear.
Due to her struggle with anorexia, Spencer is very self conscious. She's constantly worrying about the way she looks and her weight and she'd say exercising is her favorite pastime. Her perception of her body is extremely flawed (what she sees and what everyone else sees are two completely different things) and she can always find something she doesn't like about herself when she looks in the mirror.

History
The life of a teenage girl is never easy.
Growing up in a world where image is everything can have quite disastrous effects on the impressionable mind of a young girl. Spencer was another casualty of a society where success is based on beauty. It all started as she entered into her teenage years, when it seemed everything was over her head and everyone was telling her that she didn't know what she wanted or she didn't understand her own feelings. In a life where she could control nothing, the disorder festered and grew before it ripped free and tempted Spencer with something she couldn't have anywhere else.
At first, she had just wanted to be skinny. She'd see the models in the magazines and the actresses on TV and wanted to be just like them. That's what started the dieting. When that wasn't enough, she began the obsessive exercising. It didn't take long for Spencer to be consumed by anorexia. It started out as concern over her weight, led to skewed body image, and then it was the only thing that Spencer had reins on - the only thing that she could control.
For two years, Spencer suffered from the ravages of her disorder, reaching a disturbing low of only 86lbs before her family finally stepped in and got the girl professional help. It took nearly a year before Spencer was able to be called rehabilitated, though she still has tendencies and habits that she's been unable to successfully break. Her flawed body perception and exercising being two of them, though they are nowhere near as bad as they were when she was still deep into her anorexic days.
Her body was thoroughly taxed by the time she started her road to recovery and because of it, the manifestation of her meta-human ability was delayed. It wasn't until she was 16 that it finally showed itself. It wasn't a spectacular occurrence, but nothing about Spencer's ability is truly miraculous (at least not to look at.) It happened in the middle of winter when she fell through thin ice on the nearby pond that she was skating on. The immediate shock of the icy water had temporarily paralyzed her, but the worst part of it all was her struggle to pull herself out of the water. The ice was hard to get a grip on and more than once she found herself slipping back into the freezing water.
She was in the water far longer than necessary to result in both hypothermia and frostbite, but her body had adjusted just in the nick of time to keep both from happened. Her temperature, though it dropped at first, rose back up to a normal level, and by the time that Spencer finally pulled herself free from the icy mess, it was almost as if it hadn't happened at all. And it wasn't long after that before the recruiters found her.
