Common Interests (attn Hinata!)

She's been here several times during her time in Vermont, she's grown to love it here, the scenery is gorgeous, especially in Winter. She loved it, sure sometimes it was difficult to take pictures in the wintertime, but Shinko was smart when it came to that, she waited until the days she knew there wasn't a chance of snow, (or a very slim one) and take pictures then. She doesn't like getting her camera lens all wet and screw up the pictures.

Sure the water was frozen over, but there was something about the trees, the landscape, the feel of the area that she went, she just liked it. It made her feel like she was in a sense home. Sure, it wasn't Japan, and she really wouldn't mind going there, it's the place of her obsession, the place she always wanted to go back to since she didn't grow up there, she just always wanted to photograph it since she got her camera.

She started snapping pictures, she came to places like this all the time, she also liked going to town when she had time to snap pictures, most times she didn't mind if people were in the pictures either, as long as it didn't mess up her pictures. Most people find it weird that she still goes through the trouble of buying film, people have even asked her if real film still existed because the fact digital was in.

She was almost done with the roll of film that she had at the moment, and she had to get some more out of her bag. She went over to her bag, which wasn't all that far away, but far enough away that she had to walk a couple feet to get to it, she honestly didn't even notice that someone else showed up there too. It was a first for her to have someone show up when she was there. It was sort of a solitary thing that she did taking the pictures.

She then looked what she was doing, she had a camera, she couldn't help but smile a little bit. She didn't want to interrupt, and normally she wouldn't start a conversation first, maybe she actually could this time. She picked up her bag after putting her camera back in it for a minute. It wasn't every day that something like this would happen. "Umm, hello..." she said kind of a little bit quietly. She was nervous but she continued on, "I just noticed you were here, I come here to take pictures, it's such a beautiful landscape." she said.

Hinata walked through the forest that lead from Hammel to the lake. People said it was faster this way, she had to agree but there was still just something scary about the woods. She always felt like she was in a bad horror movie, where someone was stalking her, waiting for her to be all alone and then probably chance her, play with her mind a bit and then kill her. A shudder went through her body at the thought. She hated horror movies, and she hated creepy places like the woods. She liked fluffy movies, like Disney and dream works, and liked public places like the town. She had to remind herself never to go through the woods to get anywhere again. At least not when she was alone.

Hina arrived at the lake and took a deep breath as came out of the woods. She was glad to be out of there, and even more glad that she hadn’t gotten lost. She grabbed the camera the was strapped around her neck and started taking pictures of the lake. This was the first time she had been able to come to the lake when it was frozen; and she wanted to take pictures of it before it thawed out.

After taking a few pictures of the lake, she switched to taking picture of the other scenery, there were a few people around the lake. It seemed like they were eating lunch or something; it didn’t bother Hinata at all. She took one picture with a girl who had been taking pictures too. Hina blushed when she realized she wasn’t the only one taking pictures. Hina had to give the girl props for using a film camera. She moved to take another picture of the girl, zooming in on her but before Hina could take a picture the girl turned toward her and she quickly looked away. Going back to taking pictures of the lake.

Someone started talking to her and she realized it was the girl she had started taking pictures of. Hinata smiled sheepishly “Oh, yes, it’s very beautiful! This is the first time I have gotten a chance to take pictures of the lake when it’s frozen.”

Shinko couldn't help but smile a little. She was also still a little nervous, but now that she at least started a conversation there's a chance she could get a friend out of this endeavor. Add to the fact that this girl is also all kinds of adorable. "I'm sorry I forgot to introduce myself. I kind of broke into your filming session. My name is Shinko Matsumoto."

She put her hand out in order to shake the girl's hand. She put her camerabag back down and stood watching everything happening on the lake, the fact that people came from the time that she got there, and that moment. "I used to come out here all the time when I was in school at Hammel, mind you that was only a year ago but still."

She couldn't believe that she was just randomly going back in time, explaining her school life to this person that she knew for literally three seconds, she seriously didn't even know her name yet, but she started a conversation, it made her both nervous, and kind of happy that she managed it. "I'm assuming that you're a student at the school, either that or you just miraculously showed up here in moments...I can't believe I just noticed..." She then realized that she was rambling now, and she immediately shut up after realizing that she was.

When the girl introduced herself, it made Hina freeze and tense up a little. Before she had forgotten that, she had been talking to an actual person, because she had been caught up in the scenery. The fact that this girl was also the one she had just been taking a picture of made it more nervous for Hinata. She blushed “Oh, I… I’m Hinata… Hinata Kagome” She dipped her head a bit and gave a little smile. She has now hundred and ten percent shy and embarrassed.

Hinata shook Shinko’s hand slightly, she wasn’t really used to shaking people’s hand, more used to bowing to them which had become a habit when she was little, before she moved to the states. “Oh.. I.. I like… coming here… During the summer….” She blinked at the girl, it took her a minute to register that Shinko had said she had went to Hammel. “Oh.. You went to Hammel?” Finding it completely awkward to say something about it a few minutes after the girl stated so. Then again Hina was just awkward in general.

Hinata didn’t mind, then again she didn’t mind a lot of things, well she did mind them she just never said anything about it. She was too shy to speak up for herself or anything she had a problem with, but Shinko was totally fine. She didn’t mind people rambling to her, and she listened whole heartily when they did so. She nodded to the girl’s question “Uh.. Yes! I do.. actually.”

Shinko smiled but also felt a bit embarrassed herself. She very seldom takes the initiative like this. "It's very nice to meet you Hinata." she said face slightly red (not because of the chilly weather in the least, it was more because of the fact she was nervous.) She had to look down to lose the color in her face before she started the conversation back up.

"Oh yeah, my twin sister and my brother did too, I never actually figured out what Misaki's ability was, Anri's is teleportation though....It took me forever to get a hold of my ability." she couldn't help but smile at the girl's awkwardness, because she was sort of feeling the same way, a wee bit of awkwardness didn't hurt anyone, especially when this is the first conversation she's had with one of the students in a long time...(that certainly didn't sound creepy in any way!)

"Yep, I liked coming out here at any time really, I had a couple friends, but nobody really understood my love for pictures...they always just shook their heads, they seriously didn't understand me, so it's kinda nice to see someone at the school who has an at least like, of photography." she said with a bit of a smile. "Did you take the shortcut to get here...the creepy woods that makes you feel like you're in one of those corny scary movies? I used to take that way all the time getting here, my sister always volunteered to take me because she's scared of people dying in pointless ways, but I said I was fine." she added.

Hinata smiled sheepishly “It’s.. Very nice to meet you too.”

“Oh, what is your ability?” She wondered if she should even ask. Would the girl ask in return? “No… No one.. Likes my ability…” She looked down at the ground, than again they had a right not to like her power.

Hinata brightened up “No.. No one gets my love for pictures either. It’s a passion of mine.. My family doesn’t get it either… I’m.. I’m kind of obsessed with photography.” She loved it because, pictures were worth a thousand words, right? So they could speak for themselves and she wouldn’t have to. That’s at least how she got into it. Hinata gave her another small smile “Y-yes. I did. I’m… Glad I’m not the only one who thinks it’s creepy. Oh, I would want someone there with me… I would… Feel safer.”

Shinko smirked, "Well, I can phase, walk through solid objects, not exactly the most ideal, considering the first time I did it I almost lost a finger, but after a few years here, I got the hang of it, still feel the aches and pains and stuff after the whole materialization on the other side of said object that I walked through, but I'm not losing digits anymore!" she couldn't help but let out a little laugh. "What do you do then? There are only a few that I know of that people don't like...."

She was telling the story of how she became obsessed with photography. "My father got me my camera when I was old enough to hold a camera, it was sort of a birthday present because I enjoyed watching the people taking pictures. They also seemed to notice that I was interested. This is actually the camera that dad got me, I never really had the heart to get a new one. I have a digital one for school, but otherwise this is the one I use."

She really liked it here, she also liked having a conversation with someone with common interests, sure she was younger, but not many people understood her love, the whole "Each Photograph is worth a thousand words" thing...she got it, and apparently so did Hinata, which made her kind of excited. "I sort of always liked walking through those woods, sometimes it did have it's epic scary-like moments though, took me a couple weeks of taking the long way here."

Hinata nodded “Oh.. That must be scary…” She couldn’t imagine almost losing a finger. She held her hands out in front of her, looking at her fingers like she was going to lose any of them. “So, wait… Your.. Like Kitty.. Pride. Right?” Hinata looked at the ground and sighed “Telepathy..” Did the girl know what that was?

She smiled at the girl’s story. “Well… I started.. Taking a punch of pictures with my phone… and my regular digital camera. I think.. My whole family started getting annoyed with me because of how much I would take pictures and then print them and never get rid of them.. Though, My grandma seemed to understand, she gave me this camera for my birthday.” She held the camera out, it was her first professional camera.

Hinata wasn’t sure how older the other girl was, but it didn’t matter to Hina. She found someone she could easily relate to. “My… Best friend made me go through the woods… So.. Now it’s… like.. a Habit..”

"That's right! I am indeed much like Kitty Pryde, I had some problems with it to start and the like, but I learned how to control it, much more than my sister learned how to control hers, she's still doing exercises so that she doesn't end up disappearing in the middle of classes and such." she said with a bit of a grin.

She heard what her ability was she couldn't help but feel sorry for her. She read enough comics and stuff to know what Telepathy is. "So how hard is it for you? I mean hearing the thoughts of others, I can understand how it would be annoying hearing what other people think. Sorry I'm a bit of a comic book geek, when I have time, or not taking pictures, I go and buy the most recent Marvel Comics."

Shinko looked over at her camera, she sort of thought it was cute that nobody but her grandmother understood, she had times like that, her family didn't understand something that she did, she went and talked to her grandma about it. "I think that's nice that you grandma understands what's going on with you, buying a camera for you because they don't understand, I think it's cute...also I've taken pictures of that forest AFTER I leave it, not half as menacing as walking through it." she said looking down with a blush.

Her power was one of the reasons why she was so shy and didn’t like being around people. “Everyone always say ‘I wish I could read minds’… But it’s not as great as people think… You know what they’re really thinking, you know when they’re lying and what they really think of you. But… It’s… Hard… When people find out about my power they’re freaked out and think I’m reading their minds. But I guess I do… Just because I want to know if I can trust that person or not, and what I hear isn’t always good.” She wasn’t sure how to really explain it. But no one can really lie to her but even then it all still hurt. “Oh… I’m sorry… I didn’t mean to dump all of that on you…”

Hinata nodded, “Yeah, I love my grandma” She was the only person in her family who seemed to really understand her; at least that is what it seems like. “I like taking pictures of the forest. But it has to be in the day…. I’m too scared to take pictures of the woods and lake at night…”
