Roommate *Hay-lin*

Eve pulled Leo back to her side. He was overly excited about being outside. She admitted that she wasn't walking him as often as she should've, but the only reason was she had put a flyer up for a roommate and some people were often scared of the large dog. She had a couple of offers from some people, mostly men, but she turned them down. When they found out about the Scottish Deerhound or that she was a Meta, they walked away, making up some kind of excuse.

"Are you Eve?" Another man.

"Yes, I am," she said, making sure that Leo was beside her. The man's eyes flickered to the huge hunting dog.

"I'm here about the roommate flyer," he said, his voice a little louder than usual. What? Did he expect her to sic her dog on him? Some people were just so freakin arrogant.

"Yes?" Eve waved her hand impatiently.

"I...uh... You know what, I think I could go somewhere...else. I'll...uh...yeah..." He backed away. Eve laughed harshly. People were so freakin stupid. She sat down in the bench behind her, hoping that someone would come to her soon about the roommate flyer.

Hay-lin walked along the lake with Olive, her German Sheppard at her side. Olive was on a leash, she was only out here to walk him. Even then, him guiding her wasn’t hard with a regular leash. And with the leash, it didn’t draw people’s attention to her. Not that she minded attention, but she didn’t like it because of the fact she was blind. Just because she couldn’t see them staring, didn’t mean she couldn’t feel it, or hear the whispering as she walked by.

As she kept walking she overheard two people talking about a roommate flyer. She stopped to listen, it might not have been the moral thing to do; but she really didn’t care. She had to do what she had to do. Hay-lin pretended to stop and look at the lake, just so it wouldn’t look like the blind woman was eavesdropping. An eyebrow raised, she was curious as to why the man all of a sudden changed his mind. But from what it sounded like, the person looking for a roommate was a woman, which was good for Hay-lin. She herself didn’t want to live with a guy.

Hay-lin activated her power, her iris and pupil turning a deep blue, however no one could tell since she was wearing sunglasses. She started to tap her foot, with the bird’s eye view and knowing where the sound came from, she was able to stop the woman. “Come on, boy. This way.” With the help of her power, and Olive, she was soon standing in front of Eve. “Excuse me. I’m sorry to bother you. But I couldn’t help but over hear that you’re looking for a roommate.” Okay, maybe she could have helped it. “And I’m looking for a place to live. Maybe we could help each other out?”

Eve stopped short. She gripped Leo's leash. More than once, he tore the leash from her hands to go check out another dog he saw. This woman was not tall, but she was fashionable, if that's what you called fashion. She supposed it wasn't that bad. "Yes, I am looking for a roommate. And that depends, I'd be willing to help you out, but you have to be willing to follow the rules I set down."

They were very simple rules, nothing too difficult. She did have a job to uphold at the school, so the curfew was no later than two on the weekdays. She didn't want to wake up to Leo barking his head off, or whatever the German Shepard's name was. "Come, sit. We can discuss it, I suppose."

Hay-lin knew she couldn’t be very fashionable, it wasn’t like she could actually see what she was wearing. So, in that sense, she was not shallow, no not at all. What’s the point of being shallow, and judgmental when she couldn’t see? The fact that she was look over her, and sizing her up made this woman shallow herself. “I also have a rule or two.” All roommates had to have to make some kind of compromise, right? And just because it was Eve’s place didn’t mean that Hay-lin didn’t have her own rules for a roommate.

Though Eve’s rules would probably be on the more simple side, didn’t mean Hay-lin’s were; but that really depended on the person. Hay-lin for certain reasons couldn’t have a slob as a roommate. She sat down on the bench and then turned off her power. She didn’t need it anymore, and if she used if longer than she had she would have started to get a headache. Olive on the other hand, hadn’t sat down, he went to sniff and say ‘hello’ to the other dog. She took a deep breath, she couldn’t help but think of how stuck up this girl was. Eve was acting like it was just her time Hay-lin was possibly wasting. This girl should really be grateful Hay-lin even came over in the first place. Maybe that just showed how desperate she was. “Fine. My name is Hay-lin Mae.” Figure it would help to know each other’s names.

Whoa, attitude and they hadn't even had time to get to know each other's names. "My name is Eve. It's nice to meet you Hay-lin." She sighed as she leaned into the bench's wood. It wasn't exactly comfortable, but it worked since she had been walking around for hours on end. That guy had finally met her and it was just... The whole roommate thing wasn't working out. Her bills got worse and more expensive, so why didn't she just move? She happened to like her apartment, the view was nice and everything was in place. She didn't need to move around her furniture until it satsified her.

The second bedroom sat empty and it stayed empty until now. If they could compromise on things, this Asian girl would probably become her roommate, but could she stand the fact that she was slightly stand-offish? "Alright. Well, rent and utility bills will be split in half, which come out to the total of $400. It will be of our jobs to keep the apartment clean and I expect your bedroom to be clean. I do not like living with slobs. I have a job and I work five days a week. That's basically it. If you bring someone over, I don't care, as long as they don't make a mess." The rules were simple.

Eve pet Leo on the head. She wasn't worried about the German Shepard. Her landlord didn't care about the pets as long they were house trained. If they chewed on anything, it would be the tenants things and not hers. "Do you have any rules?" To be fair, she would be, but compromise was the key and she wouldn't give up things she had been doing since she moved in and Hay-lin would have to deal with it.

Hay-lin wasn’t the only one with an attitude, Eve had one way before she even walked over. Eve had nothing to say about her attitude and if she did than she needed to fix hers first. It would be an understatement to say she was nervous, she was more than just nervous. She really wasn’t sure what else she could do to find a roommate. She really didn’t have to do all that work, and it would be even more work for her. Right now, she was staying at a hotel, but that wasn’t going to cut it.

“Okay, I can do that. I have a job too.” Of course, Eve had a job, why wouldn’t the girl had a job? Really, was there a reason for her to say that? “I am a very clean person. I cannot live with slobs, or a messy place.” She just wouldn’t be able to do it, she wouldn’t be able to get around her own home, that didn’t work for her. Least to say, she was relieved to hear that this girl was also a clean person.


“I have two dogs, Olive, who’s right next to me, and an Alaskan malamute puppy, who’s female. So, I guess I just want to start off asking that if your dog is male, is he fixed? And if not, would you be willing to get him fixed?” If not then, she was already planning on getting Luna spayed, but she didn’t want anything else to possibly happen to the dog. Nor did Hay-lin need a dog trying to hump her. “The other thing is, I’m blind. So, I need everything to stay in the same place. Chairs, table, trash cans, even things in the fridge need to stay in the same place.” If Eve wouldn’t give up things she had been doing, then where was the compromise that was apparently key to this roommate agreement?

Eve looked down at Oliver. Three dogs in an apartment? One of them a puppy? "Yes, Leo is fixed. You don't have to worry about things getting moved around, I hate it when they are moved anyway. Everything will stay the same, trust me." She laughed while petting her dog's head. Maybe she wasn't such a bitch, maybe this could work out for the better. "Hey, would you like to get some coffee with me? Maybe we could get to know each other?"

“Alright, that was it. I guess we are on the same page then?” That was good, really good; she was really glad about that. At least now, finding a place was one less thing she had to worry about. “I would love that, actually.” She wouldn’t mind if they got to know each other more, it would actually be very helpful.

Eve stood there for a moment unsure of where to go. It would obviously have to be somewhere outside, but would her dog follow them? She opened her mouth to say something, but pointing out someone's obvious disabilities was wrong. "Would your dog follow me?"

Hay-lin stood up, not knowing if Eve had done the same or not. However, that didn’t matter, they were going to get coffee right? Hay-lin sighed when the other woman asked the question, it wasn’t wrong for her to ask. However, it made her realize that she would be a bother to the woman, “No, but I will manage.” She activated her powers once more, she was going to be worn out by the end but she rather be that then be a bother to people.
