She hated first days. She supposed it didn't help that this place was HUGE! Like Chicago huge, with tons of people each more intimidating than the last. Some of them had warm smiles, others had grimaces but each one was frightening! But the one bonus this place had over downtown Chicago was it had beautiful green grass, and a great front and back lawn.. and this courtyard she'd just sort of found was so peaceful and relaxing. Heck, she was really starting to calm a bit down. There were several other people in the courtyard, but she just tried minding her own business and took a seat on a smooth wooden bench placed along the main path.
Emmalynn bit her bottom lip gently as her grey eyes scanned the pretty scenery. There was a bird bath a little adjacent from her and as she waited quietly she watched a few colorful birds bathe and drink from the fountain. The birds were startled by a few loud teenagers coming along the path and flew off. Absently, she played with her hair while humming a tune softly to herself, she wasn't even aware she was singing a song from The Labyrinth (Magic Dance) until her humming turned to light singing. She wasn't the greatest singer, but she could hold a tune.
If muppets hadn't been so creepy she might have liked that movie more, but the songs were considerably catchy. Honestly, she knew muppets, dolls, even those vantriliquest dolls that you stuffed your hand in and made talk weren't real. But someone had once made her watch the movie Chucky, and she's been freaked of them ever since. She visibly shivered at the thought, and stopped singing altogether. Good going, she was freaking herself over impossible living dolls and it was only her first day here. Gosh she hoped no one could turn inanimate things to life. That would be some freaky stuff, like pinnochio.. and stuff.
"Okay, okay stop," she scowled herself out loud shaking her head a little violently to clear such thoughts from her mind. Focus on something else.. Anything else! Oh.. that's a pretty butterfly! Her eyes caught the yellowish gold butterfly that had landed on the other end of her bench, resting there for a moment before taking to the air again. She followed it with her eyes for awhile until eventually getting up and following it, slowly stalking it through the courtyard.
