Tanner Larson didn't normally go to a bar that wasn't La Maison Magnifique. Then again, Tanner Larson also didn't usually go out on a Tuesday night, when the Pilot Ridge House of Burlesque was closed. But the young blonde had been feeling antsy that evening, so as soon as he had finished up with rehearsals and dinner, he had decided to go out and see what he would find in downtown Pilot Ridge.
That was a feeling he had been having a lot lately: antsiness. Having graduated from Hammel the previous month and having decided - after a lot of back and forth with his parents, Cynthia, and his own conscience - to stay in Pilot Ridge and continue working at the House rather than leaving Vermont to pursue his education, the boy had started feeling like the walls were closing in. A lot of his friends (not that he was Mr. Popular, but he knew a lot of people at the school) were moving away, and those that weren't already had their noses buried in college textbooks as they got ready for classes that fall at the University of Vermont. So Tanner often found himself with little to do in the way of socialization. It was nights like these, when he was feeling particularly anxious, when he worked up the courage to go out alone. Hell, it wasn't like he was the only one who ever did that. And if you couldn't have a good time by yourself...
Heading inside a rather dim establishment, the pyrokinetic made his way straight to the bar, plopping himself down on one of the high stools. Once your eyes adjusted to the low lights, it wasn't a bad place: it certainly didn't have the joie de vivre that the House had - then again, it also likely didn't have the high-energy owner - but he supposed it would serve his purposes that evening.
"Rum and coke," he asked the bartender - a young woman who appeared to be about his age give or take a few years - as soon as he got her attention. Though Tanner wasn't actually old enough to drink (at least, not anywhere other than the House), he did have a fake ID that helped him in these situations should one be asked for. It was funny to think that the kid who five years ago would never think he would even taste alcohol would later be breaking the law just to do so, but time and Hammel could sure change a guy.
