Cole strode out of the water of the lake as the sun was beginning to fall from the sky. It was so hot outside that the lake was still quite populated this late in the afternoon. It was something he was used to at the club, but not here. The lake was his place of solace, his place of personal escape. It was where he always went to clear his head. Much like the World's Highest Hill back in his hometown. Somewhere Cole could go to just get away and listen. Listening, something Cole really felt like doing right now. Not to another person, but rather to the world and nature around him: Something Cole had always found relaxing.
He sat up onto the hood of his car and leaned back against the windshield. He laid his head back and closed his eyes. He took in one deep, slow breath after another and attempted to tune out the noisiness of the other lake-goers. It worked to a point and Cole relaxed as much as he could. It was a good relaxation up until a large truck full of highschoolers rode up with their radio cranked up playing some rap. Cole's eyes shot open and he sat up to see them. Four or five kids of each gender, the oldest of them no more than possibly a High School Sophomore. Cole stood from his rested position and went to his door.
One of the high school boys stepped over and Cole looked up, "Can I help you?" Cole asked quietly.
The boy looked at him, "You got a fuckin' problem?"
Cole stood erect, "You're the one who approached me, kid. Run along."
The boy looked back at his friends and smirked, "And what if I don't?" When he turned back around, he saw Cole now standing right in front of him.
"So what's the deal, punk?" Cole said as he leaned closer, "Trying to prove you're cool enough to hang with the gang? Or maybe you're trying to impress your little girlfriend over there?" Cole asked, but the boy looked down, "Oh, I see it...... You ARE trying to impress her. You're trying to get laid, huh?" Cole smirked widely, "Well, here, you're gonna need this." Cole said as he handed him a condom and stepped away. As he stepped back around the door of his car, the man stopped, "Oh, and if you really wanna impress her? Show her that you're willing to wait and always be yourself."
With those parting words, Cole left the lake and drove back down the road. About halfway back to the highway, Cole took a left turn and tore through some shorter grass. No one had been out here in his absence, and show the hay was left to grow again. Cole pulled through the grass until his tires met dirt. The old dirt track he used to practice on looked as if untouched by nature. Cole killed the engine and lit a cigarette. Perhaps here he could finally be alone for a bit.
