Idalia stood at the shoreline of the lake and watched it like it would come up to bite her. Ever since that vision she’d been unable to get the lake out of her mind. It had been raging and it had been spitting like fire. And someone was caught in its depths by the sudden onset of a storm. It had to be a weather manipulator, Idalia had decided. Which meant in the future something bad was going to happen to that weather manipulator and in turn something bad was going to happen to the swimmer. That also meant that it was the future and whatever happened might never happen because whatever happened to the weather manipulator might not ever happen and the swimmer may be fine. She stretched and looked over at where Ike was sitting nicely next to her.
If she had to guess, he was worried. Normally they were in the park and he was completely unmanageable, but when he had run off initially he had quickly caught onto her heading for the lake and had not left her side for a moment since. She reached down and patted his head affectionately. She wasn’t going to hop in the water again but something strange was happening. Ike would come very close and whine right before she had a vision. He must remember and he must sense something. People always said that dogs had a sixth sense and it seemed as if Ike had started to notice when she was going to have a vision. Right now he was calm and panting his tongue lolling out of his mouth in a very silly manner. “You’re my hero,” Idalia told him and the dog panted and looked up at her with his big eyes and seemed to smile.
She knew he was a smart dog but sometime he looked so silly it was hard to see. "I know, I know, too much lingering but you've gotta give an old woman a break, you're like three decades younger than me!" She laughed and shook out her legs and as she turned Ike stood and she grabbed up his leash and they started running. She hated running, but her crew was starting to get on her about it and they wanted to run a 5k in a few weeks. And at this point Idalia was running one mile, maybe a mile and a half and dying. She got no more than three steps than she felt Ike pulling at the leash and whining. She blinked and she was running in the bright sunshine the pleasant warmth heating her skin and making her smile. She blinked again and it was still sunny and hot but now the sun was lower to the east. She shook her head disoriented. She hated it when her visions showed her the same weather she was currently experiencing. She pulled to a stop and hung over her knees panting. Oh god! she was dying! How did people do this running thing?
The next thing she knew her arm was nearly pulled out of its socket as Ike when plunging off after what appeared to be a squirrel. "No! Ike! Stop!" She couldn't keep up and tripped, the leash slipping out of her hand and her dog went racing off after the poor squirrel. She met pavement. Her hands stung from where she hit the ground and her knee was smarting quite a bit. She gritted her teeth against the pain and just lay there for a moment hoping no one saw that.
